I've always wondered how many of these people got into it because of their names, and how many change their names to fit in.

"she replaces Rick DiMaio, 43, a 12-year veteran, who was fired Thursday after he asked his bosses about a published report that Freeze was joining the station"

That's just messed up...

Him: I heard a rumor you were hiring another weather guy?
Boss: Actually, it's a woman, and did the rumor include the fact that you're fired?

2007-02-08 01:36:47 AM
God have mercy. My hair is going to grow in white. Like Dallas Rains and Johnny Mountain weren't enough?!

Big Brother
i'd forecast it!

That fair weather is sure to be followed by a low pressure cell of the heebies and a precipitation zone full of the jeebies.

"Rick DiMaio, 43, a 12-year veteran, who was fired Thursday after he asked his bosses about a published report that Freeze was joining the station"

That's the best.

"hey, what's this I hear about a new meteorologist?"

"oh yeah, you're fired"

/Although the chick has a couple degrees (ahem), I didn't see meteorology in the pedigree. the Doocy also has no formal education in the climate. hmmm

BAD subby! BBBaaaaddd!!! Weatherbabe?!! At least be entertaining, like Dallas Raines one-time rival, KNBC-4's self-described "weatherdude" Christopher Nance, who is already on the books as one of the oldest survivors of sickle-cell anemia, then there's this;(no skilz)

Toshiro Mifune's Letter Opener: Yoah noht sending me to da coolah!

Whelp, that's it. I was expecting the thread-ender after about 50 posts or so, but there it is. Right at the beginning. I salute you, sir.

From www.amyfreeze.com :
Amy's educational background includes a B.A. in Broadcast Communications from Brigham Young University and a B.S. in Meteorology from Mississippi State University. She is also finishing her Masters Degree at University of Pennsylvania in Environmental Science. Amy also studied abroad in both South Africa and Germany.

I am pleased to see she walked the walk despite the strange way she got into the field.

We have JC Monahan on WCVB-Boston. She's more cute than hot, but she's definitely easy on the eyes. There's also Jodie Frazee who pops up every once in a while on NECN, but she's just a fillin.

Jackie Guerrido -- my gawd. the only disappointment: forecasters never turn around. i'd love to see that caboose.

the subject of this article is not a 'babe,' but i wouldn't kick her out of bed.

2007-02-08 02:07:30 AM
I can't tell what that blue thing is she's blowing out of her ass, but her two warm fronts are fair sailing.

2007-02-08 02:10:19 AM
Best weatherbabe ever: Jodi Saeland from The Weather Channel (in the early '90s). Last spotted in Salt Lake City...

Still there, apparently:
http://www.myfoxutah.com/myfox/pages/Weather/Detail?contentId=1128189&version= 5&locale=EN-US&layoutCode=TSTY&pageId=9.1.1

Oh well.

(And my tastes are skewed. Kennedy and Martha Quinn were my two favorite VJs...)

Spike wants to quit? Aw, hell. I can't exactly say I blame him; I know that he kinda wanted the job, but he got it in the worst way possible, and now that he's got it, he's finding out that the hours really suck ass, so I guess he wants out of mornings now. I do hope they can work something out so that he stays around, though... he's a goof, but I like him.

/ Oh, this is a thread about the weather chick?
// Eh, I been shot down by better
/// And worse

2007-02-08 02:13:10 AM
This has nothing to do with the thread, I just like it.

METUL KITTI!

I'd wager she got that degree via distance learning (in other words, no classroom meteorology training at all). MS State is infamous for that.

2007-02-08 02:14:43 AM
She's no Allison Williams.

/vague, vague reference for the pervs.

2007-02-08 02:17:06 AM
Damn, picture was too large to post.

2007-02-08 02:18:25 AM
Why does Body For Life list her as Amy Arbuckle? Freeze is NOT her real name!

/Doesn't really care.

2007-02-08 02:18:44 AM
Ive been watching Amy for years here in Philly. I prefer the Fox traffic girl. It is probably the mole

2007-02-08 02:24:36 AM
Too bad. I kind of liked Rick DiMaio. That said, can local news please not devote half of their broadcast to the damn weather? Give me the forecast and get back to the shootings.

2007-02-08 02:30:26 AM
Some higher power is probably watching these replies to check our reaction, so hey there.

2007-02-08 02:45:16 AM
"Freeze was born in Provo, Utah."

"As a native of Indiana, I have many fond memories of Chicago from my childhood."

I have two questions:

1. How does being born in Utah make one "a native of Indiana"?
2. Why would being a native of Indiana (especially southern Indiana) lead to an affinity for Chicago anyway?

2007-02-08 02:56:59 AM
Alveolar_Stop:

"...Joey Chicago fought under the name of Kid Minneapolis."

"Hey, I saw Kid Minneapolis fight once, in Cincinnati."

"No, you're thinking of Kid New York, he fought out of Philly; killed in the ring in Houston, by Tex Colorado, the Arizona Assassin."

This thread is a lot less arousing than I'd initially hoped.
