A Superbowl halftime show featuring GWAR would totally kick ass. The silhouette of Oderus's giant tool would really bring down the house.

bedspread,

my question is why did they choose Prince for the half time show.

Possibly because he's farking awesome.

Pouring down rain, and he's out there just wailing on guitar.

choice and consequence: Not that there's anything wrong with that, but at our place we called this the "gayest superbowl ever". First the Snickers "kiss" commercial, then shortly after the one with about 200 guys stripping to their underwear in the middle of the street, then Prince at halftime? Damn.

We were saying the same thing, it was pretty much confirmed as gayest Superbowl with the stripping guys ad. (I don't even remember what it was for anyway.)

I'm not a Prince fan, I prefer straight rock.

Still, he rocked hard. In the rain. At the fricking Super Bowl. I was in awe.

Prince is not gay, but good try.

I thought the Prince show was pretty good, and said as much to my husband.

It's what the halftime show should be, something rockin' and cool and classic. Britney Spears with a sock on her arm trying to sing Aerosmith is not rockin' or cool or classic.

Prince rocks. The FAMU Marching Band all trimmed out in neon was great. BTW- FAMU has the best marching band in the country. He had to do Let's Go Crazy and Purple Rain, those are songs that most non-prince fans can recognize. But how cool was it to see him do Purple Rain, in the rain.
Anyone who says they were expecting him to be sexual or somehow dirty, does not know the new Prince. He has stopped that act and cleaned it up, the man is like 45 now, and he can still kill, he does not need to be sexual anymore, if you were expecting Darling Nikki or Sexy M.F then you are an ingnorant fool. Listen to his newer stuff (post-Warner Brothers) like Musicology or 3121, even Emancipation and Crystal Ball, he his a brilliant song writer. The man can play ANY instrument and sings with a 3 or 4 octive range. He is a showman and better then ANYTHING the SuperBowl has put on in resent memory. As far as the pen-nis, not so much. He has not had a sexual stage show in over a decade, so get a clue you haters.

How is it that nobody got electrocuted during the halftime show?

Wireless.

I think he got a 9 volt shock when he was behind that curtain, other than that not much of a risk.

More like slipping in his high heels on a slick wet stage.

HEY! Why didn't his suit get wet? Does *symbol* wear polyester?

Yeah.

The guy not only plays, but has mastered over 20 different musical instruments.

But, that's right, he sucks.

I don't know how anyone could think that show was good. I like Prince, a lot, but half-time show medleys are just corny, especially when you include "Proud Mary", something The Simpsons parodied a decade ago.

Prince? Prince performed at the half-time show?

Truthfully I didn't notice with those go-go dancers in their short skirts, knee high boots and stockings. Unexpectedly, I was asked if they were twins and had to pretend that I hadn't even noticed them.

/kidding about not noticing Prince. He did a fine jorb.

Hey, farktards, Prince is far from gay.

prince is not gay, but watching him is... remember the ass pants thing? one of the gayest stunts ever. he is talented, but he "rocks" about as much as herpes on a toilet seat.

My husband and I noticed the guitar shadow and commented on it. I thought it would've been in the press by now, some people can't get over thier own obsession with phallices (sp?).

The covers sucked. I thought Purple Rain was awsome. One of the few Prince songs I like, and the purple neon onstage during the song made the rain glow. It was like he planned it.....

FTA: I can't wait for the religious right to flip out on this one.

It seems to me that it's the secular left that's flipping put.

I see the horn of a custom made guitar, not a penis. That guy and room fill of "straight freinds" just saw what they wanted to see.

THAT was absolutely the greatest halftime show. To actually have some talent up there who's not over the hill or overrated made just added to a great superbowl. The game was also outstanding, being a Colts fan myself, and I'm glad it was the blowout we all predicted - I don't think I could have handled another AFC Championship gut wrencher.

Steve Vai was at my brother's house a couple of of weeks ago.

Yeah, he mentioned he was over there. Me and David Lee Roth were hanging out at Ghandi's crib just the other day when Frank Sinatra comes in (methed up, as usual) and starts talking about how M. Night Shamalayan and Scarlett Johansen need to 'put the damn lid back on the toothpaste when they're done' and Edward James Olmos had to calm him down with a Charles Mahatma the Norris roundhouse kick to the grille just like he did to Prince on spaghetti day.

And the two dancers were annoying. They had hair flying everywhere, it was difficult to see anything else. That sort of thing can cause neck injury.

I told Scarlett while she was resting in bed with my wife and I that she needs to clean up her act otherwise she's gonna get kicked out.

And as much as we love her as a FB... we ain't letting her shack up at our place.

People hate on the Ex-Mr. Britney Spears because he is a no-talent gravy training loser hack.

People hate on Prince because THEY are no-talent losers.

Notice the two do not appear in the same sentence. As it should be.
Please, never compare the two ever again. Thank you.

In Minneapolis, Prince once joined a pick-up football game in the early 1980s or late 70s in a public park. He was wearing a "rude boy" button, and seemed kind of heavyset, compared with the waif he later became. This was after his first album, but long before he became hugely famous...

Anyway, this girl I knew had a brother who was playing in the game. And I heard the story from her, and the telling description is also from her. So Prince + Football is not that strange...sadly, I don;t know how well he played, only that he joined in...

My understanding was that Prince was a pretty good basketball player in high school.. although that may just be urban legend. I did see the tour he did when he had a basketball court onstage, and he could J a little bit from what I remember ('89 I think).

Loved that he also included a cover of Foo Fighter's Best Of You. (unless Foo Fighter's version is also a cover, then I'll go about looking like an idiot).
