How many we got?

Meh. They're all at a single site and they ain't going anywhere. They might as well paint bull's eyes on them.

If we don't turn the facility into a pile of rubble, Israel will.

2007-01-27 04:31:18 PM
Relax. The electric bill alone will ruin them.

This isn't a repeat. The aforementioned link you posted was "planning" and this link explains that they are actually in the process of doing it.

old article

Iranian officials have said repeatedly that work would start soon on the uranium enrichment facility at its Natanz underground plant. There had been speculation the leadership might launch the project next month to celebrate the 28th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution that brought the clerical leadership to power.

TFA

TEHRAN, Iran -
Iran is currently installing 3,000 centrifuges, a top lawmaker said Saturday in an announcement underlining that the country will continue to develop its nuclear program despite U.N. sanctions.

Ok, that looks right, first article is saying "were going to do it" the second is saying "ok were doing it."

Please let some other country take care of this one... we can't even coordinate an occupation of another country properly.

This is giving me a tingly run-up-to-Iraq war kinda deja vu feeling.

Quick! Fire up the coalition of the willing mobile.

Who's going to step up and blow this site to bits? I hope it doesn't have to be the US alone, but I have a bad feeling no one else in the world will do shiat about it.

Maybe Israel.

2007-01-27 04:57:23 PM
of course having an extremely unpopular president that is a lame duck and facing for the first time a hostile congress shouldn't embolden other countries to challenge the current administration.

2007-01-27 04:59:40 PM
OH NOES!!1!

Yawn. Wake me when they test a nuke. Then I'll consider caring.

2007-01-27 04:59:48 PM
why would Iran announce this when they know Israel is triggy happy for things like this?

Can someone who doesn't really know anything aboutnooclear technology but claims to explain to me whether or not this is a significant threat?

Codyl,

Who's going to step up and blow this site to bits? I hope it doesn't have to be the US alone, but I have a bad feeling no one else in the world will do shiat about it.

Why, exactly, do you feel we should bomb another country for developing nuclear technology?

you ever get the feeling that in the 1930's Germany felt responsible for leading the world and that their population didn't quite stand up to their leadership enough?

skinink: I'm so glad that the execution of Saddam has destroyed the Axis of Evil so completely.

Look, I know you think the Iraq war is a mistake, you think Bush is an evil chimp etc. Got it. But think about what you just said, would you rather have Iran AND Saddam AND N Korea pursuing nukes?

kb7rky: Dear President Bush:

Our blood is on your hands.

and the same can be said of every single president who ever waged war. Look, so it was a big mistake in your view, ok, but the way our system works is that the leadership makes those decisions and then we make the best of the situation.

Really you people need to put aside this BDS before it eats a hole in you.

2007-01-27 05:02:35 PM
kb7rky :

More people die in workplace related deaths per year than have died in Iraq. These people did not sign papers voluntarily to be a soldier. A soldier knows he/she may be called to fight in a warzone.

Where's all the tragic oh noes for people whom die pushing pencils, o ye mighty farkers?

2007-01-27 05:02:41 PM
patssle3,

why would Iran announce this when they know Israel is triggy happy for things like this?

The same reason Bush told the insurgents in Iraq to "bring it on".

Leaders can generally act like cowboys and not have to worry about actually feeling any serious repercussions from their actions.

Hello, Fark Admin? Yeah, hi, it's KB7RKY...yeah, that guy. How's everything? Really? Cool. Hey...just wanted to let you know that someone greenlit a repeat article...you know? Well, why did you...hm? Yeah...I'll remember that! Okay, talk to ya later...bye!

Relax, the US just had another successful test of the THAAD anti-missile system, so by the time Achmadinutjob has his ballistic fleet ready, we're going to be covered. You Europeans, on the other hand, well, you're screwed. Maybe you can buy your lives from Iran with enough money and servility.

they were all pretty much contained until Bush directly threatened them and broke off all talks.

judan,

Can someone who doesn't really know anything aboutnooclear technology but claims to explain to me whether or not this is a significant threat?

I know a little bit, and it's only significant in that the same enrichment process used to produce fuel for nuclear energy can be expanded to produce fuel for nuclear weapons.

2007-01-27 05:04:59 PM
Starting a nuclear war to stop nuclear war.... Dr. Strangelove would be proud.

Do you think we can talk Abadinejad to put tracking beacons on them like our test targets do?

Zaphodius: of course having an extremely unpopular president that is a lame duck and facing for the first time a hostile congress shouldn't embolden other countries to challenge the current administration.

Yea, but what does Bush have to lose now? He's out of office in 2 years, and the possibility of getting impeached is about the same as me winning the lottery. At this point, he can kick over the proverbial ant hill and then walk away from the mess. Sure the world will be left cleaning up his mess for decades, but I really don't think he cares.

Time to order up a Nuclear Winter. It's just the thing for those Inconvenient Truths.

If the death rate per 150k workers in the USA matched last month in Iraq, you'd see some people get upset.

This will help explain this (pops)

he may not care, but Congress still has to pass two more budgets.

jjorsett,

Must be pleasant inhabiting an alternate reality where the facts can be whatever you want them to be.

It can be argued that, if we had never invaded Iraq, the hardliners never would have had the fear-mongering material necessary to get elected in Iran.

Don't worry when they tell you what they're doing.

Start worrying when they stop.
