the ear rings serve one purpose, to make her semi resemble a woman. she not only look like a man, she looks like a very masculine man. she is on steroids, no question.

Yeah Tiger looks totally Thai. He also looks totally black. I just don't agree with the racial construction that if your mom is white and your dad is black, then you are half-black. I don't know what the term really means, because it really does not get at the heart of what people mean or feel when they talk about 'that black guy'.

I'm not going to debate this point because you are talking about something completely different. I'm not saying you are wrong, but you are talking about the social construction of black whereas I am talking about biology.

Basically, when people, like the original poster I was responding to, claim that blacks dominate sports they normally believe that blacks have inherent physical superiority to whites. This is a total myth. In pointing out Tiger is mostly non-black I'm only saying that using him as proof that black people are phsyically superior or dominate sports is stupid. He isn't even black.

Now does Woods get treated as if he was "all black" as you say in social situations in America? Probably, but that is a whole nother question. (Personally I think that is stupid. When I see someone who is mixed race I view them as mixed race, not as whatever default race I want to choose. But I realize most do what you say).

The original photo posted of Serena was taken by a NY Times photojournalist.

They do some very, very meager testing on a "random" basis for steroids on the pro tour through out the year, but not at each event. It doesn't seem they are very serious about about catching cheats or they would test all the semi-finalists and some random players at every tournament, much like Olympic sports or bicycling events.

It sure seems like Serena is the Barry Bonds of women's tennis. One of the other photos posted shows an in shape but not a grossly bulked up Serena taken during her most successful run on the tour. Maybe, and I repeat, maybe she is using the juice to make up for all the practice and tournaments she's missed out on over the last few years.

While it's great to have a powerful serve, don't forget that one of the greatest men's players of all time, Jimmy Connors, had a first serve in the 80 mph range. That's even slower than a lot of Sharapova's serves.

Man, I could stay on this thread all day, but it is 1 in the morning here.

Serena ain't that bad looking. Not my cup of tea, but she's allright. The guys that are so hung up on one ideal that they can't see that, they are the ones who are teh ghey.

I put it at about 3:1 against that she is on steroids. . . but its possible.

Also trakstar, while I understand how a lot of mixed race people decide to "choose" one race and disregard their biological heritage, the thing that gets me with Tiger is that he has always defined himself as multi-racial. He has always wanted to be known by his multi-ethnic background and NOT as merely black or asian or whatever.

So I think you are doing him a bit of a diservice to "claim" him for black people when he doesn't want to be claimed as such.

I'm pretty sure that me and you have the same goal here. To not claim any race as inherently superior over another and to not judge people by their race.

I probably should have ignored the race baiting of the original poster, but oh well, i'm bored today.

I always thought it was a matter of picking one side of your cultural heritage, rather than your racial one. It just doesn't seem likely that you pick what race you want to be known as, even though you may look like the other.

Bill Frist

I keep getting sucked back in.

I am less interested in claiming him for black people than I am in the notion that others are interested in claiming he is not black. More simply put, I am suspicious of their motives.

I think people are heavily invested in perpetuating racist stereotypes, and when somebody breaks the stereotype, I think many will latch onto whatever they can to separate the standout from the group he would normally be associated with. To be quite frank, this behaviour bothers me.

Obviously, Tiger has a very diverse heritage. So do most African-Americans truthfully. If I was Tiger, I wouldn't want to be reduced to the most facile interpretation of my race. In most situations though, the most facile interpretation of race is the one that wins out.

Serena's in perfectly good health. Her muscles don't look like a bodybuilder's? That's because she's not bodybuilding, she's training for what she actually does.

And do none of the guys notice how you get all pumped up when you exercise...? Reference the bathing suit pics again -- they're in great shape, nothing more and nothing less.

That said, I'm 5'11" and will never weigh less than 160 -- and when I'm fit and muscular, 165 is perfectly healthy. Maybe they have a light frame beneath all that muscle, who knows.

Holly_Wight

I've noticed that basketball, football, baseball, golf (Tiger Woods ring a bell?), soccer, boxing, weightlifting, body building, track & field, and several Olympic events have been dominated by black athletes for a while now.

Basketball? Yes
Football? 50/50
Baseball? No
Boxing? No
Weightlifting? No
Body building? No
Track & Field? Track maybe, field no
What other Olympic events?

It's cool to have an opinion on something, but be prepared for people to call you out on it.

All I will say is for me any woman that could likely pick me and carry me is not a turn on. Thus sharapova is hotter

2007-01-27 06:30:52 PM
Personally I'll have to consider Tiger black because when people look at him treat him like a black guy. Isn't that the point anyway? Who cares what mix you are when people will prejudge you on simply what you look like the most.

If Tiger was kicked out of a country club for being black and he correct them by saying he was mostly Thai/Asian, would they let him back in?

/but yeah, you can tell he's Asian. Also just like an Asian or Black guy that once they make the dough they marry white.

(Not you specifically, but others).

I think people are heavily invested in perpetuating racist stereotypes,

Agreed, and the stereotype that black people are inherently biologically superior at sports is idiotic. When people have to support this claim by citing people who aren't even mostly black, biologically, it makes them hard to take seriously. (again, not you, but the original poster I was responding to.)

Ugh, where have YOU been.
Boxing hasn't been "dominated" by blacks for a long time.

If you follow boxing you know there are five big organizations which give out titles. Currently 4 out of the 5 heavey weight titles (ie the biggest most important title) are held by white dudes (I believe they are all eastern european). Only one is held by a black guy.

Offhand I don't now the ethnic make ups of the lower weight catagories, but suffice to say that black people don't dominate boxing (olympic or otherwise) by any stretch.

Bill Frist, I am not calling you racist for not liking Serena. It is th eposters w/gorilla, etc comments who I am talking about. You are getting too sensitive to my comments.

As I have said before, it is racial, not racist. but (I left out generally) white guys prefer flatter/less rotund derriers and black guys like the rounder versions. Each race/social group has differing standards of beauty. If you ask 10 black guys who the perfect/ideal woman is vs 10 white guys vs. 10 Mexicans vs. chinese vs Japanese, etc you will get each group that answers based upon their cultural norms/standards

As for sports, these things are relative. People speak of what they know. And most people know the US. It is nature v nurture. Black kids don't really play much baseball, but do play basketball and foootball. White kids generally play more soccer, hockey and football. Even in football, the posiitons where they are directed to is different.

wegro froestu: Why is this getting voted down?

My guess because it has gone off topic (typical for TF) and has become a ridiculous discussion about ridiculous "racial theories" rather than a discussion about tennis players and steroids, IMHO.

You have to admit, white women look a little bit like gorillas.

2007-01-27 08:28:21 PM
Note to those among us crying racism in this thread. Nobody's comparing Williams to a gorilla because she's black. That's just your own imagination and insecurity talking.

No, folks are comparing Williams to a gorilla because she looks like a gorilla. Same as how Camilla looks like a horse and Mann Coulter looks like an ass. Er... the donkey-like critter. Not the buttcheeks. Although there is somewhat of a resemblance there too. I'm sorry, what was I saying? *scrolls up*

Ah yes. Yes. Sorry, but Williams just isn't on the same hotness level as Sharapova. In any color.

She plays a mean game of tennis, though. Probably eats her racquet (lightly sprinkled with puppies, ball boys, and rusty nails) after the game.

Re: Muscle Mass

Both these gals have very low bodyfat - notnoocommon for an athlete whose specialty is an aerobic sport.

With really low bodyfat, the muscles leap out and seem huge. There's no adipose tissue smoothing em out. None of the pics at the start of this thread seem excessive for a world-class athlete, and don't require steroids.

2007-01-27 09:11:54 PM
First off. The tab on the sub reads "unlikely," so take it as such, please.

Second, both of the pictures at the top of the post are athletes who are swinging at the ball with their entire bodies, not just arms like most of you club players do.

Third, Serena has a natural build that shows more muscle. AND she is at the end of a long tournament in the middle of summer in a very hot climate. Every player probably lost a great amount of body fluid.

/and yes, i thinks she is HAWT
//so is Maria
///to all of the in denial racists......acceptance of your feelings is the first step to enlightenment

trakstar: Anybody calling Serena a gorilla is basically racist.

It's not the least bit racist if they're comparing her features to those of a gorilla. If they're calling her a gorilla because she's black that's a different story.

I Can't Find My Pants: I'm pretty confident the Williams sisters are juicers. They've got the man shoulders, the manly voices, the acne...

AND they have had huge body shape changes recently. They have always been physically superior to their competition, but they have the same before and afters as Barry Bonds of late
(Serena more than Venus). Which everyone uses as a predictor of steroid use. If you apply that standard to male athletes it needs to also be relevant for females. But they are not the only players juicing by any stretch of the imagination. Funny that the only major violations have come from Olympic competition for tennis players.

That wasn't Serena. That was Clinton Portis. He needed something to do in the offseason.
