What, no love for TimmyBigHands.com, the Internet equivalent of suicide booths?

2007-01-25 06:27:47 PM
I dig Mike Nelson's Rifftrax. I've gotten them all so far.
Very entertaining.

Ah Manos, will there ever be a movie so moving and poignant? Nay...

God I miss MST3K, are there any cable channels that run it? EVER?

Farts, you can find anything on the internet. Mystery Science Theater, your own cheesy movies... even porn!

Porn?!?! WHERE!!!! I hate watching shows at the computer. I want to lay on my couch in my boxers eating cheetos and drinking mr.pibb with the clicker in my hand.. scratching, farting. Enjoying myself, not sitting up watching what should be a masterpiece on my 36" screen reduced to 6x6 as it jumps and stops and stutters. And dammit, get off my lawn!!

You can stream downloaded stuff on your HDD to a xbox360 wirelessly. It's pretty nifty once you get it all set up

No, but the three actors from the show do Rifftrax, which are MP3s that you synch up to your own DVD copy of a movie. They have several notable movies, including Star Wars: Episode 1.

Much, if not all of MST3K is out on DVD. I haven't caught it on any cable channels lately.

2007-01-25 07:04:21 PM
I love the RiffTrax; my favorites so far are Top Gun and The Matrix. Myself and the roommates still haven't gotten halfway through The Fellowship of the Ring, but what we heard was pretty funny.
Definitely worth the $2 to download.

For those of you a bit behind synergizing in this new Information Age, Netflix has a fair assortment of MST3K DVDs.

Hey, if you've run out of real movies to watch, why not?

God I miss MST. The best show of the 90's BAR NONE. You Tube has a bunch of eps. Joel, Mike? Who cares. Both turned out some classic eps. Manos, Mitchell, The day the earth Froze, Warewolf, and so many others may it live forever. Too bad that with all the crap on so many cable stations that no one has picked it up..

amishjihad: "Much, if not all of MST3K is out on DVD. I haven't caught it on any cable channels lately."

Actually, they aren't even close to having them all available on DVD yet. They have somewhere in the neighborhood of 40 episodes out I think. They've got a ways to go.

Thankfully, many episodes are available for your viewing pleasure various places on the Internet...

"Everybody knows that the best monkey movie is Dunston Checks In."

I saw Mike Nelson at the U of M last year - he 'opened' for the Sklar brothers. After reading an excerpt from his book, he confessed that he wasn't as funny without puppets, so he brought out a sock puppet.
Buy his books.

I'm still annoyed that they haven't released my favorite MST3Ks: the day the earth froze and fugitive alien 1 & 2. I want those damn movies.

2007-01-26 05:51:53 AM
There are plenty of places online to get bootlegs.

They forgot to list Frank worked on some episodes of Invader Zim.

How did this get the "SAD" tag?

2007-01-26 06:24:48 AM
Why why why can't they bring this show back?

2007-01-26 07:24:14 AM
This seems like a really old page, doesn't it?

The problem with showing repeats involves the rights to the actual movies being riffed upon. By the end of the run on Sci Fi, they were down to about 4-5 episodes they were allowed to air, as the rights expired.

Some deep pocketed channel could fork over some cash and but the rights I suppose, but no takers so far. Thank God for YouTube, which has allowed me to see many episodes from early seasons taht are unavailable on DVD.

I still can't get enough of Manos, Mitchell, Hobgoblins, and Girl in Gold Boots. These movies will make me laugh silly any day.

"Mitchell, I don't like you. I wonder why that is?"
"Perhaps our brief but bitter affair?"

"Mittens! He's a cop!"

I still laugh everytime I think about "Kill-a-guy 2: Into the Maelstrom."

There's a Shoutcast video channel (you can see it in Winamp) that streams MST3K shows all day. Fun times :)

I think I have all the Sci-Fi Channel ones memorized. How much could that show have possibly cost to produce that they had to cancel it? A season's worth wouldn't come near the budget of their weekly "Salamander vs Marmot" movies.

Comedy Central is sitting on all their episodes. I guess Mind of Mencia is a better show.

Mugato: How much could that show have possibly cost to produce that they had to cancel it?

I dunno how they were doing for viewers, but I know I no longer had a reason to watch after Mike and TV's Frank left the show. I tried, but it just wasn't the same. Mike was a decent replacement for Joel (who was the best), but they just didn't have anyone left who was close to Mike's caliber.

I guess the Sad tag fits when you consider all good things must come to an end...

I didn't know Mike left, I just remember the last episode and figured it was canceled.

I would have to say "Mitchell" is my all-time favorite, followed closely by "It Conquered the World" because it pokes fun of Peter Graves the whole way through. And the "Gila Monster" was a great episode as well. "And leg...up!"

I actually liked the shorts as well. My favorite was "Truck Farmer"...an all-time classic.

/Used to do the Sci-Fi "Caption This!" when they showed MST3K

2007-01-26 12:48:07 PM
I don't know exactly why, but my favorite has always been "The Cave Dwellers." Maybe because I actually watched it on the late show in college pre-MST. Maybe because everyone has the same reaction as the Joel and the bots the first time they see Ator single handedly storm the castle.

"Wha... A HANG-GLIDER?!?"

Anyone remember 'Alien from LA'? With Kathy Ireland? THAT was great! Of course, there's not a bad episode out there, IMO.

TorgoSev: Huh? Mike was on till the end. At first I thought you just mixed the names, but...

He was?? I coulda sworn he left when Frank and Trace left...but I guess that makes sense - who else would be the main guy? I do remember watching an episode or two after that and just not enjoying it nearly as much.

TV's Frank went on to get some good cartoon writing gigs and does stand-up in L.A. Terrific guy - just incredibly sweet and funny.

I'm sorry, I was getting TV's Frank confused with Dr. Laurence Erhardt, who left early in the Comedy Central run. Shenanigans! Are you maybe getting Joel and Mike confused? Joel was the original host, who left in the oft quoted and much loved movie "Mitchell" (Gypsy thought that Dr. F was planning on killing Joel, so she facilitated his escape. Dr. F then shot Mike, who was working as a temp cleaning Deep 13 for an audit to the Satellite of Love, starting one of the best flamewars in the history of geekdom).

With all that said, I kind of hate Pearl.

mofomisfit: And didn't TV's Frank leave after the first season?

That was Dr. Laurence Erhardt, who was declared missing. TV's Frank filled in until the end of season 6, when he was assumed into Second Banana Heaven and later took up soultaking.

The DAP is the best thing ever. A little patience and a paid newsgroup account netted me every single episode over a few months, including the ones they did as a little local show in MN.

Sadly, my delivery service has never been the same since MST3K left the air...

Am I the only one who remembers The Comedy Channel (now Commedy Central) running 30 straight hours of MST3K every Thanksgiving? I used to look forward to that every year.

Santa Conquers the Martians is the best episode evar, followed closely by Gamerra ("A robot just sang a love song to a turtle.")

2007-01-26 04:50:32 PM
mofomisfit: Shenanigans! Are you maybe getting Joel and Mike confused?

No, just for some reason had a brain fart and thought that Mike had left the show before the end of its run, when in fact it was Trace's and Frank's departures that led me to stop watching the show.

Mike was OK, Joel was the best.
