Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!

wait, please don't

I seem to remember Saddam trying this one, and I also recall it ended kinda badly for him. Wonder if the same stupidity applies here - you know, if Iran doesn't have a covert nuclear weapons program, then this is just a dumb, dumb move.

I am now seriously leaning towards the "both sides are provoking each other in an insane fashion" side.

there is an iaea report on iran due in february. people should wait for that, rather than comment on matters where the context is unknown (such as tfa)

brazil, paulseta

With what troops, exactly? Iran can do this. No matter how much some people want war, the US just won't be able to add another war to its docket. Iran knows this.

And, no. The US will not use nukes to make up for lack of manpower.

So... no. No war for you.

Ahmedinejad to UN: Fark off
Bush to UN: You gonna let him dis you like that
UN: We are a peaceful organization that...
Bush: Pussies! Hey, Ahmadumbassnutjob! U had a look 'round your hood lately?
Ahmed: Yeah, so? What you gonna do?
Bush: What do you think?
Ahmed: Don't even go there!
Bush: Don't think I would? What do I have to lose? Public opinion!? HAHAHA. Check yourself before I wreck yourself.
Ahmed: I call bullshiat.
Bush: Autobots, roll out!

Is this the Iran War pool? Might as well go by day. If you have the date or are closest you win the pot. I'll take July 7th for $100.

With folks like brazil calling the shots it's the Al Bundy syndrome. Amurka isn't going out $10 Trillion in debt... we'll go out $20 Trillion in debt if that's what it takes for bragging rights.

We'll just blame the stupid Libs later on when someone actually has to pay for all this farking BS.

Great, now we can get our asses kicked on two Middle Eastern fronts.

W00t! Another war!

FarkinNortherner: We need land troops to exercise an assault(p) on alleged military facilities(p) ?

Libya != Iran or Sudan. Different terrain, different amount of intel, etc.

I just can't see it happening.

yes... but a dead surrender monkey has no economy. so, better to run up a little debt.

Ahhh_Ennui: And, no. The US will not use nukes to make up for lack of manpower.

we conveniently have a lot of troops next door. i'm pretty sure the Iraqis can continue to fight amongst themselves for the few weeks we'd need to go, squish iran and return. not like we have to occupy them. hell, they're more likely to have a rational government after a good thumping than iraq.

A bankrupt and pissed off surrender monkey has no economy either.

There won't be any invasion, just a few bombs in the right places and a few that that they say "went off target" in the right places.

All right, as long as we both agree that it is a stupid idea that only breeds sarcasm, then it's all good.

(I hope that's what you meant.)

Not going to happen...The most the US can do at this point is launch some cruise missles at suspected sites, and even the military says this will only delay the Iranian's developement by several months or so.

Honestly, I don't even think they'll launch cruise missles since a strike against Iran will unify them against us and give them they excuse they need to become an even bigger pain in the ass in Iraq.

We may have to realize that Iran will become a nuclear state whether we like it or not, unfortunately. That's what happens when you opt for "cowboy diplomacy"...

keylock71: We may have to realize that Iran will become a nuclear state whether we like it or not, unfortunately. That's what happens when you opt for "cowboy diplomacy"...

Strangely enough, the established power base in Iran was crumbling before we invaded Iraq. Few of their youth wanted to be part of the extreme muslim movement anymore. Iran's leaders needed something to stave off the impending cultural revolution that they were on the brink of having. Thank Allah that Bush invaded Iraq. Religion has nothing to do with our occupation over there, but it makes a *great* saber rattle to band the youth of Iran together and get the country more or less unified.

Developing nukes is the next logical step for Iran. They have their bogeyman, their equivalent to our communism, and it's us. They just need something that we consider so dangerous that we will stay in the thick of it indefinitely. They build up nukes or nuclear technology, and suddenly we're farking with them for the next 20-50 years and they have a long term "enemy" to stand off against and maintain cultural and thus political control over the entire country.

How many of the 38 were U.S. and\or Israeli spies?

Of course, we can't. That's why 80% attention will be shifted into Iran. Some will call it a third unneccesary war, I'll call it "exit strategy". Two fronts in two different countries becomes two fronts on the same country, get it? Pincher maneuver, baby!

I'll put five dollars on my birthday, April 4th.

Are we taking bets for the place/time the first mushroom cloud pops up, also?

Ahhh_Ennui: And, no. The US will not use nukes to make up for lack of manpower.

That would be the PRAGMATIC thing to do, which means we won't do it.

Seriously, I have no problem nuking all of Iran if it prevents London/Paris/Tokyo/New York from getting a surprise nuke originally created in Iran.

The problem lies in getting the IAEA involved in the first place.
Instead they should have brought in IKEA. Ingemar could have gone over there, assembled some inexpensive pine furniture, wowed them with a cheap meatball lunch, and peace would have reigned supreme!

They are probably upset that one of their "Build a Home Nuke" kits got loose in Iran, and want it back. I would too, have you seen that lovely blond wood exterior? Scrumptilioucious!

air strikes at the most. not an invasion.

2007-01-22 10:37:01 AM
Iran is a sovereignty with as much right to pursue a nuclear program as America.

Any country with Bush on the payroll really shouldn't get upset about anything that any other country does.

Right, because 100% of the American public fully supports Bush's actions and can be held accountable for them.

Oh wait, you're an idiot.

Aren't they technically white guys? We can commit genocide on white dudes, right?

"Why do you think her life is less important then another in Britain?"

Because she's a dirty stinking liberal Muslim terrorist baby raper. And, she's got brown skin.

Why not just nuke the entire planet? That will protect us from every future attack that crackpots can dream up.

Iran,
Do not make me stop this Aircraft Carrier.

Israel:
Time to kick the tires & lite the fires. Using a coupla old F-15s from the original mission would be a nice historical touch. Call Russia 1st & they'll email a map of the new SAMs sites. You'll want to avoid those.

Fark:
The US & Coalition has plently of capacity to take on another front. Ground troops are in short supply but doubt we'll fall for that one again.

Except the US has no political clout anymore. We have military clout, but if we attack Iran we will be going completely alone. No friends, no allies, just us. We can do it, but I think the American public is sick of our soldiers dieing in the Middle East.
