Kind of scary. This could save the life of many kittens.

2007-01-21 10:25:32 AM
Check out this one.

2007-01-21 11:08:02 AM
biffman: Check out this one.

With or without photoshop, it's still scary.

2007-01-21 11:08:08 AM
That's pretty interesting, actually. I knew they did stuff with skin textures and all that, I didn't realize that they actually changed body figures.

2007-01-21 11:20:32 AM
Yeah, like this will stop me from wanting to have hot dirty monkey sex with them

2007-01-21 11:26:40 AM
I show this one to my digital imaging class: Linky

It blows their fragile little minds to see that people don't really look like that.

2007-01-21 11:35:00 AM
Many of them look better before the PSing. At least in my humble opinion *shrug*

2007-01-21 11:38:59 AM
I like how he's all proud of how he upped the brightness and added a drop shadow to the cast of Toy Story 2.

2007-01-21 12:06:46 PM
Eh ... some "professional". Didn't see a single Akbar in the entire collection.

2007-01-21 12:07:09 PM
Try the close up of the one that biffman linked to:

Yikes!

That's going to show up in a nightmare.

2007-01-21 12:07:28 PM
Amateur. He didn't unsharpen the knees.

2007-01-21 12:08:31 PM
that is sick

2007-01-21 12:10:36 PM
wacking off to women in playboy, maxim, fhm, etc... is exactly like wacking off to anime cartoons - its not real

2007-01-21 12:10:52 PM
eh... I'd hit it

2007-01-21 12:11:19 PM
this is despicable an ugly man like me could become a magazine model, those people have more blemishes in their faces than a chemical warfare survivor.

I always wanted to see the before images because I knew they airbrushed but not to this extent, then ive seen the pics of the hollywood actors/tresses and they all look busted makes me beleive that it doesnt matter how you look.

2007-01-21 12:11:40 PM
And we wonder why we women have such farked up ideals of what are bodies are "supposed" to look like? The ones we're constantly being compared to are completely man-made images! Sad to say we've done it to ourselves, though, because we're the ones that continue to buy the fashion whore magazines.

2007-01-21 12:13:01 PM
he upped the brightness and added a drop shadow to the cast of Toy

Ha!
I noticed that too.

2007-01-21 12:15:46 PM
Sad thing is that a lot of young guys will get shocked that most of the women they admire in the Boobies links are shopped out of reality. The shopping is to best manipulate your brain for focusing/viewing, to make the photographed women look like stacked 15-year-old girls. That's the sick part--your expectations are being manipulated. suckerpunch has a good link...young men are going to have rude awakenings always trying to compare real women to manipulated pictures.

2007-01-21 12:16:06 PM
Not a dramatic change imo, I've seen much more astonishing airbrushing.

Allow me to add I'm not against this kind of polishing of reality.

2007-01-21 12:16:57 PM
repeat

2007-01-21 12:17:42 PM
Nothing a 12 pack of beer can't fix.

2007-01-21 12:18:44 PM
Simone?

2007-01-21 12:19:16 PM
suckerpunch...wow, that's really cool. who knew vida guerra's ass wasn't as freakishly bubbly as portrayed?

2007-01-21 12:20:19 PM
Makes me wonder why they even bother to hire actual models, then. Especially since some of the "before" pictures, in the collection Suckerpunch linked to, are downright homely.

2007-01-21 12:20:56 PM
"wacking off to women in playboy, maxim, fhm, etc... is exactly like wacking off to anime cartoons - its not real"

Seriously, if you're going to fantasize about a girl, she should be real. Wait, what?

2007-01-21 12:21:10 PM
Creepy how beer goggles act like your brain's personal PS system....

2007-01-21 12:21:53 PM
Wow, fark. It only took you four years to stumble upon this!

2007-01-21 12:23:26 PM
It's obvious from the photoshop contests that some of you farkers are pretty darn good w/photoshop. Could someone point me to a site that shows how to touch up photos like this.

/if i sound like a complete photoshop n00b, that's probably because i am..

2007-01-21 12:24:07 PM

2007-01-21 12:25:13 PM
Well duh. In all of these pictures, the skin is so heavily airbrushed that it has no texture.

2007-01-21 12:27:03 PM
Talk about a buzz kill!

Meh, this one looks pretty much the same "after" as it was "before"

If you read the description that's not exactly what's going on, he's converting the rendered frames from the animation to ink colors for poster printing. It may seem mundane, but try taking a frame from an original animation frame, even a video frame, and converting it to professional quality posters. This is his portfolio, people may want him to make posters from their movies/animations, it's not that he's so proud, but rather he's showing his works abilities. I mean after all this is basically part of his resume for advertising work.

After my first Photoshop class in graphic arts school I learned to never trust a photo again. It really kinda sucks. Sometimes I think labeling a photo that has been altered is a good thing.

/Greg Apodaca does have some mad skillz.

2007-01-21 12:27:54 PM
While this is old, I still show it to people all the time, since so many don't know just how bad the retouching is in all commercial images.

2007-01-21 12:28:02 PM
Wow, thanks, Fark. This link was actually great for my self-esteem.

I went through an issue of Penthouse once and 10 of the 12 girls wore negative clothing sizes. That's pretty friggin' thin and a very high expectation.

/I'm not anti-porn, I got the subscription for my boyfriend. I'm not hatin', I'm just sayin'.

2007-01-21 12:28:28 PM
Whenever I want to scare myself, I think I'll bring up the blond chick's photo, put on Aphex Twin's "Come to Daddy," and toggle back and forth between the two pics in time to the music.

Oddly enough, I attended a Halloween party last year where the theme was "Your Future Self." A lot of people cheesed out and said "I'm myself five minutes from now." Personally, I went as a pornographer, printed up business cards, etc. Each of the cards had a different catchphrase on it. One of them was "Because Photoshop Makes Everyone A Pro!!!"

I didn't really realize how true that was until I RTFA. Wow. Why should anyone pay for the Cindy Crawford / "it" girl of the moment when they can rent a streetwalker and 'shop till they drop? Revlon will have a ball.

You mean...it's all fake?

Cue the YA RLY Owl in 3...2...

2007-01-21 12:32:10 PM
Does anyone have any good Photoshop tutorials on how to do this correctly?

2007-01-21 12:33:49 PM
thornhill: Well duh. In all of these pictures, the skin is so heavily airbrushed that it has no texture.

Skin, those models are still made of skin? You nailed the reason I can't stand magazines like Maxim. I might as well be browsing the Realdoll catalogue.

2007-01-21 12:33:56 PM
Some of them looked better before he got his blur all over them

I find it weird that anatomically important things like the bumps of collarbones get removed. How are collarbone bumps unattractive (as long as they're not protruding starvation-style)? It looks weird when Halle Berry's chest is just a smooth slope.

2007-01-21 12:34:26 PM
robeph: thanks for the advice, sure seems to be easy
