Science!

2007-01-18 10:01:21 PM
People in this country are still afraid of food irradiation. Who got the crazy idea that the public would go for virus batteries?

2007-01-18 10:02:21 PM
Doesn't a virus need a host organism/cell to grow in? How do they just "clone" thousands of virus particles?

2007-01-18 10:02:54 PM
Somewhere... there is a Yuri's Revenge joke waiting to strike...

2007-01-18 10:03:16 PM
So then what will the mad gynecologists create?

2007-01-18 10:03:36 PM
Nano-penii? Who would want one of those?

2007-01-18 10:03:56 PM
So in the future if I catch a cold I'll be able to shoot lightning bolts when I sneeze?

2007-01-18 10:04:17 PM
The result? A dense, virus-loaded film that serves as an anode.

A anode? An node? An anode? Ann Ode? Whatever. I just know that I'm going to get one in my eye someday...

2007-01-18 10:04:48 PM
I am confused. Do I put these nano batteries in my ipod Nano?

2007-01-18 10:09:06 PM
wil? Have you been messing around with nanites again? What have I told you about creating sentient life-forms?

That headline made me snort, then chuckle.

Just what we need. Forget to charge your battery and it eats you!

Immensely satisfied by the headline.

poorjon

People in this country are still afraid of food irradiation. Who got the crazy idea that the public would go for virus batteries?

Well, some people inject botulism into their forehead, so this shouldn't be that big of a deal.

2007-01-18 10:43:23 PM
Nanoviruses?

You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile.

/slightly disturbed by the easy number of references I've been able to make in recent days.

Funny headline but you lose style points for using dog latin.

2007-01-18 10:46:40 PM
I haven't read the article to see what this is all about, but I understand enough to know that I'm opposed to this and I have a dirty baker's dozen of lawyers standing by to fight this terror.

hey, the viruses only work as nano-wires, but some bacteria are being used to power batteries. hmm, if those two team up, they could take over the world!

2007-01-18 10:58:05 PM
"Electrified nano-virii?"

Hm. My first thought was "why not just call it 'grey goo?'" Then I had to remind myself that it's more along the lines of molecular engineering.

Our race is hundreds of years beyond yours. Some would say that the Earth is our moon. But that would belittle the name of our moon, which is: The Moon.

I'm happy for the mad biologists. It's about time the glory was spread. The mad chemists and mad physicists really were taking far too much of the mad scientist limelight. When's the last time a mad biologist was the big man on the mad campus? Dr. Frankenstein?

Maybe Dr. Jekyll...but I think he was a mad chemist. Mad historians should feel free to correct me on that.

hahahaha...

2007-01-19 01:15:19 AM
virii = not a word. It's "Viruses".

2007-01-19 01:27:47 AM
Holy shiat! Me and one of my friends like to think of words that the plural usually ends with "s" and change it to "i" (ex.: matresses=matrii, etc.) it just so happens that "virii" is one of those words and this is the forst time I have seen it in use. Awesome. Subby, you just made my (and my friend's) Friday.

By the way, if I'm an idiot and virii is grammatically acceptable, please don't tell me. I don't want to live in a world where virii is an acceptable plural for virus. Thank you.

Electric gonorrhea, the noisy killer.

aevert: I don't want to live in a world where virii is an acceptable plural for virus. Thank you.

You don't.

And even if virus were actually Latin, the plural would be viri, not virii.
