Because I'm saving my $15K (once I have it) to make a functioning replica TARDIS console room...

Which can only be accessed via a door hidden behind a full-sized Police Box replica, of course.

I guess if I had $15K to spend on it I would want my home theatre to be, you know, cool, tasteful and comfortable.

2007-01-16 10:20:24 PM
I dunno, that's damn cool. And the chairs look comfy. Some of the others on the other pages are neat too.

2007-01-16 10:28:40 PM
I'm also considering building a robot into one of the Dalek replicas available from here (same place I'd get the Police Box).

Just need some money... donations accepted.

i would but i spent 30k on my dvd collection

that guys collection sucks

I like the TARDIS idea better too.

RobertBruce: I like the TARDIS idea better too.

Thank you. I'll be posting a YouTube video walkthrough once I'm done.

/I'll begin once I start making lots of money

Saving up for a functional holodeck, thanks.

My home theater cost me $6,000 and it gets me laid.
This guy spends $15,000 and all he gets is a bunch of smelly losers.

I Win!

Hmm...I've already got the projector and the screen.
Honest to God...if you want a great home theater and haven't already blown your dough on a plasma...get a projector and a screen!
Just make sure your room is big enough to position the projector far enough away from the projector to get a full size picture.

2007-01-17 04:28:53 AM
More importantly does the door go "Shhh" when it opens and closes.

If I had an extra 15K.... I'd invest it.

2007-01-17 04:32:52 AM
Subby's idea of "cool" is wildly divergent from that of the rest of humanity, apparently.

2007-01-17 04:36:01 AM
Meh... Doesn't really look right. Kind of 1/2 way between Kirk and Picard.

2007-01-17 04:37:20 AM
$15,000!! Are you crazy?!?!

I could buy 10 stormtrooper outfits for that!

2007-01-17 04:38:14 AM
Ill admit, once i get a house and put in a dedicated home theatre room, im considering a star trek bridge theme. Currently in the living room of our apt i just have random movie posters. When i get paid next week though, im getting the Time magazine cover mirror from Big Lebowski and a Hal 9000 wall plaque if i can find one.

And let me just out-nerd everyone in this thread, i'm currently watching all of Star Trek. All of it. In chronological order by episode. So far im done with ENT, TOS, finished TAS last week, watched VI yesterday and i'm watching Encounter at Farpoint right now.

/fiancee wont let me give one of our kids the middle name tiberius though...
//after seeing some of TOS though, she thinks shatner used to be dead sexy

I'm honestly curious about what quality of woman will put out simply because you dropped a few grand at Best Buy. Are they homeless? 'Cause that would make a little sense...

2007-01-17 04:43:22 AM
That looks hideous.

2007-01-17 04:45:13 AM
I'm sorry... an extra 15k would buy me *two girls at the same time* many times over... Two high-grade DC call girls at the same time.

Not that I'd do that...

Deece: I'm honestly curious about what quality of woman will put out simply because you dropped a few grand at Best Buy. Are they homeless? 'Cause that would make a little sense...

Dude it's way less than six grand for a homeless chick.

Not that I speak from experience.

By "cool" the submitter means deeply, disturbingly sad.

2007-01-17 04:59:57 AM
Id do somthign different with my 15k, but that dude sure got alot of bang for his buck. Just looking at it I would have thought that it cost at about 5 grand more than 15k, and wouldnt have been suprised if it cost around 30.

If you have a $6K home theater system, then a woman (incorrectly) assumes you have a great job, great credit, and will take care of her for the rest of her life.

BWA HA HA HA HA! Women.

lol Ivor, that's hilarious.

2007-01-17 05:03:48 AM
I don't think you'd want to see the women that would get reeled in by a room in someone's house built to look like the inside of the Enterprise. They'd probably make most of the aliens in the show look appealing.

2007-01-17 05:04:14 AM
Classic is good (if outdated), Deep Space Nine owns. The other series just aren't up to the same level, imho, even if they do have some good characters. Picard and Riker together don't equal one Captain Kirk.

I'm hoping for a new Classic with a reasonably well-cast crew. Christian Bale would do well as Spock, for instance, especially if there was lots of hand-to-hand combat.

2007-01-17 05:10:04 AM
I'm not obsessed enough to build one of these myself, but if I were to buy a house that *happened* to have a ST themed home cinema in the basement, I would consider that extremely fecking cool.

/would pay asking price if it also came with Seven of Fine.

Tardis or Enterpise Bridge... actually, its a tough choice. I like the idea of making a large room hidden and accessed through an inconspicuous door. That way, women won't find it.

Be a lot cheaper and a lot cooler to just put a stripper pole in your living room.

Man, I just drank a large thermos of Siamese ganja tea. And that room still looks nasty to me.

15 Grand would buy me another Yamaha cruiser and all the wenches who wanted to go biking/camping with me.

Deece, actually it's the invariable comments of "wow, nice setup" women give when they come over that I was alluding to. Of course the "Want to help me pick out some wine?" and walking her over to a nicely stocked wine fridge doesn't hurt either. Believe it or not, women like nice toys too. Its just that they don't like it when you spend more time playing with your toys instead of them. But, judging from your comment, you're too busy playing with your "wii" to notice.

2007-01-17 05:36:21 AM
That is sweet! But for 15 thousand clams I could probably get Leonard Nimoy to hang out with me for a week, which would be way better.

I have rums, both spiced and regular.

Save the $$ spent on the decorations and drop it into some quality equipment. Could easily spend $30k on the video equipment, and another $15k on the audio equipment.

2007-01-17 05:40:53 AM
That is pretty cool , but it's missing on thing , ever since high school me and my buddies always wanted a borg in it's energy port, and yes during christmas we would put a santa hat on it

Jesus, why are Star Trek dorks still out there nerding out? Isn't it time to move on?

$15 grand can buy a lot of good things... a tacky home theater isn't one of them. The only people who will enjoy that room are geeks and, um, more geeks.

2007-01-17 06:00:54 AM
cankersnore

What else should Star Trek dorks nerd out about? Think about what you're saying. If they stop nerding out then who will supply the furry trek fan fic/ porn? Why don't you think before you just start spouting off insane rhetoric.

2007-01-17 06:01:54 AM
Personally... I would have gone with the Serenity bridge or the Galactica CIC, but hey, every geek has his favorite starship.

2007-01-17 06:06:16 AM
Galactica CIC might work, Bat_Freak, but Serenity bridge was cramped and angular. Wouldn't work well for more than like two people, at most.
