2007-01-14 10:19:50 PM
um, could those drafts have any more foam?

2007-01-14 10:20:20 PM
I want my 59 seconds back. That was a not very interesting comercial for a not very interesting beer.

2007-01-14 10:20:55 PM
I love that song... I really do.....

2007-01-14 10:24:52 PM
Those beers were more than half head. That's just terrible.

2007-01-14 10:25:32 PM
Beer commercials are no less ridiculous today.
This has been a serious social commentary by mistervague.

Great commercial, terrible beer.

Drink the original Bud, the one that the American Budweiser tried to keep out of America.

2007-01-14 10:26:26 PM
Some of those pours brought me back to my high school days.
/not a good place to be

The mere mention of a macro-brew brings out the Fark Beer snob crew.

FriarReb98: I love that song... I really do.....

Yeah, I remember this commercial from when I was a kid. Brings back memories... hazy, drunken memories, but memories, nonetheless. Good times, man, good times.

2007-01-14 10:30:16 PM
Wasn't there an update of that song in a newer commercial? That tune is familiar, even though I was still inside Mommy in 71.

2007-01-14 10:30:25 PM
Sorry -- I got carried away with my commas. I used up my alotment for the day.

2007-01-14 10:31:20 PM
Did they pay half-price for those half-beers?

2007-01-14 10:33:45 PM
Feh on all you haters. Love the commercial and love the beer.

2007-01-14 10:34:44 PM
S'okay Ariluto...I'm sure there's an unused stockpile somewhere.

/comma, comma...who's got the comma?

2007-01-14 10:35:32 PM
^ That's not a comma there...it's an apostrophe that fell...

2007-01-14 10:35:55 PM
Back then, beer cans and bottles said "shake well before opening".

mathmatix

um, could those drafts have any more foam?

That's what I was wondering. Was that "in style" at the time? (Help us, older farkers.) To me there's nothing words than the head on watery mass-produced American pilseners. It's not like Guinness, where you want the head.

2007-01-14 10:39:07 PM
Sometimes, it's nice to just sit back and chill with a bud... hell, i'll even admit to the occassional bud lite. I don't always need to drink more expensive stuff. All the macros are fine with me.

2007-01-14 10:39:12 PM
And I love the part where the "cowboy" picks up an open can off the fencepost. Because there is nothing more refreshing than an open can of cheap beer that's been sitting in the desert sun for more than 90 seconds.

2007-01-14 10:39:12 PM
Come to Canada and have some of our Labatt-brewed Bud, which is not made for pre-pubescent school girls who collect stickers.

words=worse

2007-01-14 10:41:05 PM
A good stout beer should have a nice head. Budweiser is not any of that.

84Charlie: Feh on all you haters. Love the commercial and love the beer.

This is the famous Budweiser beer. We know of no brand produced by any other brewer which costs so much to brew and age. Our exclusive Beechwood Aging produces a taste, a smoothness and drinkability you will find in no other beer at any price.

I had a Bud longneck tonight with dinner -- it's still good beer. I dig it.

2007-01-14 10:46:24 PM
did anyone else get a male orgasm vibe from that first clip with the dart board and the opening of the bottles? I thought it was kinda disturbing.

2007-01-14 10:53:11 PM
Drinking one right now.

That's always cracked me up. How on earth have they not been sued for false advertising over that one? Go into a brew pub in any city and you'll find SEVERAL that cost more to brew. For that matter, go to your local grocery store. There are very few beers that cost LESS to brew.

I'm not too snobby to have crappy beer now and then, just like I'm not too snobby for an ocassional fast food burger, but let's not pretend it's a quality product.

So beer has not, in fact, been helping white people to dance since 1971.

2007-01-14 11:00:33 PM
What do sex in a canoe and Budweiser have in common?

They're both farking close to water.

2007-01-14 11:02:49 PM
That's a song the band plays during every Georgia Tech football game. They aren't allowed to sing the lyrics anymore because of NCAA/Alcohol rules but the fans still sing along.

2007-01-14 11:04:09 PM
I'm under 30 and I know "When You Say Bud!" I went to BU in the late '90s and the band would play it at hockey games. And while it was playing, people would stand up and sit down to the beat.

Then at the end we'd all yell out, "Anheuser Busch, St. Louis, Missouri!"

2007-01-14 11:04:24 PM
I think there is some type of prohibition on showing alcoholic beverages being consumed. Instead they show patrons holding it, pouring it, etc... Nothing being drunk.

It is interesting that in 1971 this prohibition was in effect, apparently.

Bhh

I just barely remember that commercial. So they were implanting "Bud" into my consciousness before kindergarten. Worked to because I drank it a fair amount in my early drinking career (high school and the like).

Kinda dopey but not any worse than the commercials they play between the viagra ads which seem aimed at emasculated dorks.

2007-01-14 11:04:58 PM
Wasn't there an update of that song in a newer commercial?

I kept expecting them to sing "For all you doooooo, this Bud's for you."

2007-01-14 11:06:19 PM
laotzu beat me to it. But I should add that I don't recall the band ever singing the song. The last time I went to see a BU hockey game was in October, and they were still yelling the end tag.

2007-01-14 11:08:21 PM
Every time I see some vintage commercial from the late 60s or early 70s I think "Man, if anyone bought a single one of these... people were stupid back then."

Think about it, Bud had a whole team of bright-for-the-time go-getters working on that campaign an that's what they came up with. A goblet of half beer-half head delivered up in a dive bar to some jackasses. Man, it would have sucked to have been an adult in the 70s.

I'm not sure about the U.S., but up here we can't show the consumption of alcohol at all in advertisements. Nazis.

I remember Paul Hogan mentioning that during a beer commercial in the late 1980's. He was staring at a glass of whatever beer he was selling and counting down until the fade to black at the end of the commercial when he could drink it.

Holy ass. I also remember that Ty-D-Bol commercial. With the little dude in the boat.

There is still nothing better than the Jim Mora Coors Light commercial

"Playoffs?!"

Here's a better one:

VD is for Everybody. (pops)

It's like a cross between "The Sound of Music" and high school health class.
