Nope, just on two separate pages. And you linked to the second one, smart guy.

Submitter...Why did you link to the second page instead of the first?

BTW, there is more than one haunted lighthouse in Oregon. Oregon Haunted Lighthouses

Yeah, but none in the OBX. We use our obnoxious seasonal tourists to scare away any would-be boooo-dlums. Ha.. get it.... I need to sleep.

Maybe because the first page was redlighted?

Someone should call Sylvia Browne. Her predictions are about as "real" as ghosts in a lighthouse.

Which was the one they investigated on Ghost Hunters? That episode creeped me out big time.

St. Augustine and it is listed.

I like the haunted lighthouse that has the piano playing in it. Guess the husband got tired of the wife playing it constantly and axed her not so nicely to stop.

I recently moved out of Dublin and was looking for a place to rent, I found a wing of this place was available to rent. I was all set to rent it when a friend who lives nearby told me it was haunted. Thank fark I found out before I signed a one year lease!

It's all fine and dandy saying "Yeh, I live in a haunted castle" but actually doing it is another matter.

what makes one lighthouse MORE haunted than the next? (ignoring the fact that ghosts don't exist, of course)

i would like to see the scoring system.

Mobro4000: what makes one lighthouse MORE haunted than the next? (ignoring the fact that ghosts don't exist, of course)

Egon has equipment that precisely measures the level of ecto-something activity.

I really wish I believed in ghosts.

Point lookout is creepy. School made us camp at the park and go seining in the adjacent swamp waters near the lighthouse. Where they tossed the confederate dead when the prison camp was open. That's nice. Take a bunch of 8th graders seining in a place that has a legitimate chance to pull up a civil war corpse.

I'd be fired if that was my job, after killing jason off, and countless screaming argonauts.

Next time you're in Southern Utah, cruise by Cedar City. Some dork built a lighthouse there.

There was an episode of Ghost Hunters that had some good footage of activity in a light house. I think it was in Florida. There was a woman's voice who whispered help me and an apparition that peeked over the balcony then launched off. That was some good footage.

The Lighthouse at Ft. Barancas in Pensacola supposedly has a few spooks as well. Looks pretty creepy and is right next to a humongous military cemetary.

Point Sur just looks creepy...beautiful but creepy. Sort of like all of Big Sur...don't drive it at night...no cell service, no guard rail, hairpin turns, and a watery grave ten feet to the right of you...welcome to flavor country! Absolutely beautiful though.

I find it very intriguing that all the haunted lighthouses in USA find themselves near water. Hmmmm......

How do they determine how much more one lighthouse is haunted over another?

No personal offense, guinnessfanatic, but I demand fatwah against that abbreviation. Those oval stickers on the backs of cars are atrocious.

2007-01-10 11:30:22 AM
So these ghosts must have been confused when they were told to "go towards the light" because they thought it meant "the lightHOUSE".

Where are the top ten most haunted brothels?

2007-01-10 12:20:21 PM
from tfa:
Point Lookout Light, Scotland, Maryland
Aficionados of the paranormal consider this the most haunted lighthouse in America. Male and female apparitions materialize and then vanish. Doors open and close without visible reason. People hear voices, footsteps, even snoring, but no one is there. So why does it rank only ninth? Because the beam at this modest, house-style structure went dark more than 40 years ago. A lighthouse without its light appears so forlorn. Then again, a hospital and a prison camp for Confederate soldiers existed here during the Civil War, so perhaps an unlit lighthouse represents an appropriate memorial to such a mournful heritage.

okay waitaminute. back up jack.

you rate the professed "the most haunted lighthouse in America" complete with an all singing and dancing cast of male and female ghosts next to the bottom because it looks forlorn?! stay with me here. a forlorn location increases the cache of a building's percieved hauntedness, not decreases it. get it? creepy, dark, forlorn lighthouse built over prison graveyard = NUMBER farkING ONE!

Point Lookout is very creepy. My institution, St. Mary's College of Maryland, is located on Point Lookout Road, about a dozen miles from the site. I don't consider myself easy to spook; our college is a bit renowned for ghost stories and a history of death / misfortune, and I've never been even a touch unsettled because of it. Nevertheless, I would probably not venture alone into the lighthouse at night. We both received a bit of publicity with the release of White Noise; a handful of the samples in the movie were recorded from the lighthouse. I don't even know if you can walk into the lighthouse at night (anymore?), I believe the park closes at sunset and you have to schedule a night tour ahead of time... about six months ahead of time.

St. Simons Island's lighthouse is considered one of the top ten most haunted in the country?

I've been in that thing more times than I can remember, haven't heard a damn thing. Ever.

And I believe in ghosts (while I don't really believe the lighthouse is haunted, the movie theater on the mainland is entirely haunted).

I grew up in a haunted house, so I'm really getting a kick...

Oh he11.

No, I really did grow up in a haunted house. It's in fabulous Norco, CA.

You'd get months of peace & quiet, followed by bursts of activity. Or there would be lots of little things happening, tools moving around, doors opening & closing, the TV and lights going on & off. Stuff like that.

We heard more than we saw, although we did see the occasional figure on the stairs (the original owner had a heart attack & died there) or sometimes in the living room. It ranged from 'no big deal' to 'goddamn scary'.

I love that house. Wish I could move it somewhere out of the smog.

I'm a member at their forums and I've been nagging for vid evidence updates and they never seem to get around to it.

Just watch ghost hunters when it returns to Sci Fi, chances are they'll post a marathon for the season start.
