Nice one, subby

/Can remember when "gaylord" was a common insult

2007-01-09 12:18:20 PM
I have to admit I chuckled at the headline. I guess I never really progressed much beyond junior high after all.

2007-01-09 12:24:11 PM
Ugh... it's bad, but I smiled. A little. It was a PBF smile (i.e. Lord Gloom), for those that get the reference. For those that don't, uhm... nevermind. But google "perry bible fellowship".

2007-01-09 01:08:46 PM
Will this be all of the rooms, or just the rooms with kids in them?

2007-01-09 01:15:36 PM
Sigh...

"You can no longer have a fag while staying at a Gaylord hotel."

It's not that hard, people.

Every time I see the word "Gaylord" I think of the family that pretty much owns the journalism industry in Oklahoma.

They're also slowly buying OU, piece by piece. Right they only have the Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium and the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication, but it's only a matter of time.

/Was a student in the Gaylord College
//Shame hangs on me to this day.
///Hehehe, butt pirates.

2007-01-09 02:10:38 PM
...to follow closely behind?

2007-01-09 02:40:30 PM
I for one find the term "Butt Pirate" to be offensive.

The politically correct term is "rump ranger" or "ass bandit".

2007-01-09 02:41:54 PM
Jill_off and SherKhan's contributions would've helped this headline by a factor of ten, at least.

....Thats the same family here buying up all of Nashville. If they banned smoking, it's only because they couldn't buy the tobacco companies.

Kudos, submitter.

/wipes tears from cheek

2007-01-09 02:44:39 PM
Was it really that funny?

2007-01-09 02:45:17 PM
Soon, the only time you'll be able to smoke on the road is if you stay in a Twatbomb Inn.

2007-01-09 02:45:19 PM
Their main hotel, the Opryland Hotel, here in Nashville is really nice. They have everything from fast food to $100 steaks. BTW, the steakhouse did have a cigar room; I guess that's gone.

It's the largest non-casino hotel in the country. It has several THOUSAND employees. However, I don't know if I'll ever forgive them for tearing down the Opryland theme park. They turned it into a MALL!

Sad, sad, sad. Fark subby and the other haters.

2007-01-09 02:53:20 PM
Sorry to threadjack away from the gay jokes (and onto the article)...

But, IMHO, this is the way it's supposed to be. I'm a smoker and I say: Good on you Gaylord Hotels. I think that the businesses should be able to choose whether they want to allow smoking or not, and the customers should be able to approve or disapprove of this decision with their $$$.

Free Market, FTW.

/Tee-Hee, "Gaylord."

Gaylord Focker? Don't violate the circle of trust.

I believe I laid this to rest already. The PC term is "tailgater."

If their motto is "like a homo way from home" I will personally do a spit-take in their lobby, using real splooge.

2007-01-09 02:55:55 PM
I work for the hotel industry and personally think every hotel should be smokeless.

2007-01-09 02:56:29 PM
The one in Kissimmee was originally to be named the "Opryland Hotel". Amazing, cuz it's a classy place.

/went to their spa the other day

In Jersey, you can't smoke anywhere at all except the casinos and they're gonna take that away soon too. I quit smoking almost a year ago and don't really care anymore, but they should let people smoke in SOME places.

I don't understand why an American would be so fussed about nightlife on the Channel Islands anyway....

/ Yeah, I know.

My boss walked in to work one day to find a $450 "overcharge" on a hotel bill from a convention. After researching, she found that a manager was smoking in a room. I don't do that anymore.

Of all the states that start with "New," New Jersey is the only one that has superceded its "Sans New" counterpart to the point where you can say it without saying "New" and people still know what you're talking about. Try it with another state. Hampshire? York? Mexico? That being said, the grammar Nazi in me applauds your quip Guy Necologist.

That was only a product of the citizenry and common use. The official name ("New Jersey") is three syllables long, and that's just asking too much of most Jerseyites. Shoot, "Jersey" is two syllables, and even *that* is pushing it.

Businesses that discriminate against people who use tobacco products should go DIAF.

/Lives in Nashville
//Should go in there with a big wad of smokeless tobacco and spit all over their expensive carpets

A Traveling Man: //Should go in there with a big wad of smokeless tobacco and spit all over their expensive carpets

When they inevitably charge you extra for the staining (and they will), tell them you have a genetic "anal leakage problem" and can't help it. I'd be willing to bet you'll get treated better than a smoker.

The Gaylord in Dallas, TX was an amazing hotel. I went for my first and only QuakeCon. That place was very very cool. The indoor atrium was huge.

/Guess he doesn't have any horns on him

I don't know what this surprises anyone - smoking bans have always been totally gay.
