It's really early in the year, but I think we have a very strong contender for douchebag of the year. Does he hate women, or do you think he found a really easy way to make money. The same thing happened in San Diego a few years ago and killed the whole scene for men and women alike.

2007-01-06 12:45:50 PM
What a douche, indeed. Leave this nitpicky, shiat to the matronly nags who invented it

2007-01-06 12:56:26 PM
While the dude is indeed an utter puddle of enema drippings, he's right on this issue.
Of course the bars can probably get around it by offering a "Dudes night" on Tuesdays or something.

59-year-old corporate speaker, who says he's been on an anti-feminist crusade since his wife left him

"Waah! My ex is a scumbag!"

Welcome to life you tragic, little vagina.

2007-01-06 12:58:21 PM
Fair enough. Charge everyone 50 bucks at the door (with IOU's to "qualified" persons) and hand out cash to "patrons" to pay for their drinks.

He is inviting an asswhooping from every local man.

1) Drunk women are more likely to find ugly men attractive -
not anymore...thanks douchebag!

2) Drunk women are just more likely to put out - not
anymore...thanks douchebag.

3) Paying for a woman's drink is a good way to break the ice
- thanks for raising the rate...douchebag.

and that guy is way too old, way too bald, and looks way too
much like Les Nessman to be hanging out at clubs in the first
place.

"Ladies night is now illegal," said Horner, a 59-year-old corporate speaker

Well, he's a scam artist for a living. No shock that he would get his kicks this way, too. Despicable.

He is right.

But it's like the kid in class who reminds the teacher she forgot to assign homework.

Ladies night is for guys. Idiot. Ladies night exists so you have a better chance of getting laid. Ladies night is made so you don't have to go into a bar and complain that it is a sausage fest.

The guy must be gay.

Next up, banning lifeguard night.

One in the stink and one in the pink?

2007-01-06 01:25:11 PM
If you don't like the policy stay away from the business.

/He's never gonna get laid again.

2007-01-06 01:26:21 PM
Ladies Night benefits all. Ladies pay less, and men have more ladies in the club, win win in my opinion.

2007-01-06 01:26:34 PM

his newest 'book', from his own site:

stevehornerbooks.com

After outrageous Minneapolis talk-show host, Frank Metz, is murdered, he's shocked to find himself working as a talk-show host in Purgatory. He experiences a full awakening on the air and returns to mortality to lead his revolutionary crusade against enemies of humanity. Unfortunately, Frank has underestimated the evil forces that wait to oppose him and his popular movement.

The Unusual Frank White Man tackles today's social issues. Important social issues are dissected, torn into shreds, and laid out in full view for all to see and inspect.

Why wasn't a book like this written twenty or thirty years ago? Apparently, we were all wearing blinders.

2007-01-06 01:29:06 PM
Definitely a moran, but I do agree that offering a ladies night is discriminatory.

The really moranish thing is that he thinks what he is doing is anti-feminist, that he's hurting women. Ladies nights are designed to help men pick up, so really, he's just scoring a win for the feminists who don't want to be treated like call girls after they've had two beers.

2007-01-06 01:29:18 PM
Have fun at the sausage-fest you cockbag.

2007-01-06 01:29:41 PM
the chorus: He's right.

He's not right. A private business should be able to discriminate in this way.

"Ladies nights" are a great example of where discrimination is positive for all parties involved. The business attracts more male and female customers, the females get a good deal, and the male customers get access to more females. Everybody wins.

Anti-discrimination absolutism is mindless and harmful to a free society.

Why can't men join the gym at Curves?
(aside from not wanting to)

2007-01-06 01:31:36 PM
anti-feminist

Pssst. Most feminists would be against the concept of ladies' night. Unless of course they're only against equality when things are unequal in their favor.

He's not "anti-feminist," he's "misogynist."

Now I wait for the FARK MISOGYNY SQUAD... come on guys, where are you? You're making Baby Reddie cry D:

If this is the "Steve Horner" I'm thinking of, I remember him.

backstory: 10 years ago I hacked into the Fox 29 voice mail, and heard numerous complaints from people. One was "Big" Steve Horner who complained about the glowing superimposed puck on hockey coverage. If you heard the voice mails, you would have sworn he was legally insane. I had them up on a web page until a Fox 29 employee kindly asked me to remove them.

About 3 years later, he was written up on City Pages, where I think he was harassing his parole officer.

And he looks just like his picture featured in City Pages.

Wow. Full circle.

2007-01-06 01:34:57 PM
Oh by the way. I don't consider myself a feminist. Want to stop being stereotyped by dumb frat boys as a dumb, warm hole who frets about her nails and her hairstyle (and if I don't do these things, I'm clearly a lesbian*)? Yes. Think that every farking thing on the planet is an affront against women, or that the actions of a single douchebag woman somewhere reflects somehow on my character? Not so much.

/although when I was little, I wanted to be a boy, because the girlz on tv sucked.

onomatopoetic: He's not right. A private business should be able to discriminate in this way.

So a Country Club can choose it's members, or at a minimum charge them different rates for the same service? Based on any arbitrary criteria?

And I'd bet dollars to donuts that those of you who claim it's easier to get laid on ladies night couldn't get laid in a women's prison with a fistfull of pardons.

2007-01-06 01:38:12 PM
Nerdlinger: Except for men who aren't looking to pick up a drunk girl.

A. Not all women at ladies nights are drunk.
B. Guys who don't want to pay a cover charge are free to spend their time elsewhere.

Women get to be awesome feminists, who are fighting to remove the oppression of evil men.

Men who want to make things fairer for men are misogynists who hate women.

Yeah, that's fair!

Absolutely. But they're also free to go to that club, and charging them a different price for the same service is discriminatory.

ThereBeNoShelterHere: So a Country Club can choose it's members, or at a minimum charge them different rates for the same service? Based on any arbitrary criteria?

Ideally, yes. And I see where this is going so I might as well address the race issue now.

IMO, racist assholes should be allowed to have their exclusive racist asshole clubs. However, since race issues are so emotionally charged and historically important I understand wanting to stick it to the man in that case. Discrimination against males by charging them a few bucks at the door of a bar doesn't carry the same weight.

Maybe you don't understand my position. I know its discriminatory and I don't care. It's hardly a crime against humanity. If you want to go to a bar but don't want to pay the cover charge because it's discriminatory, tough shiat. Find something else to do.

Wow, I just got all kinds of irrationally angry at this guy. I don't go out much anymore, but.... I just.... I think I'd actually cause physical harm to this idiot. The more I think about it, the angrier I get. Gotta go and run some laps or something.... Man....

From the page for his 'book'
"In a world of benign, ambiguous statements of mutual understanding and agreement, Horner's 'White Man' is a refreshing declaration of passion and consequence rather than the much too common caution and compliance."
