Sounds like someone is due some sensitivity training.

He probably lost the Boulder vote too, but then he probably never had it.

Penn and Teller have a show, shows on Showtime. Look for Bullsh_t! All episodes (at one time) were streamed on their site... they have an interesting opinion on PETA.

A politician who speaks truth? That truly is heroic.

"Peterson added that wild animals caught in the blizzard's wake -- the same animals PETA routinely criticizes hunters for bagging -- also weren't worth spending PETA's money to save."

Uhhh

I'm thinking the wild animals in Colorado are capable of dealing with snow. They've been doing it for quite some time now.

If this is the best critique of PETA this guy can come up with, I suggest he find a new group to pester.

Replace PETA with anyone who stages outrageous stunts like they do.

I had a pet hot pocket once. That confused the hell out of PETA.

2007-01-05 10:41:33 AM
I can't disagree with him. My daughter refused to drink milk after PETA sent her letters saying that it was all full of pus. Thanks for the nutritional tip, asshats.

I'm a vegan hippie and PETA still annoys the hell out of me. They're as bad, if not worse, as their 'criminals'

Myrdinn: Penn and Teller have a show, shows on Showtime. Look for Bullsh_t! All episodes (at one time) were streamed on their site... they have an interesting opinion on PETA.

Hate to tell you this, but if your opinions are based on TV shows, you're in some serious trouble.

Here's a hint: P & T, though entertaining, don't often do complete research and tend to push their particular agenda.

Several of there shows can be correctly described as Bullshiat in themselves.

PETA are a bunch of harpies who make up what they "believe" as they go along.

So, who's responsible for the deaths of more kittens? Senator Bill Frist, PETA, or the legions of Star Wars nerds who can't get the sight of Carrie Fisher in a metal bikini out of their heads?

2007-01-05 10:43:12 AM
I'm an animal lover. But I hate PETA.

Hey PETA, let's review what P.E.T.A. stands for again, shall we? Or do you think allowing farm animals to freeze to death is ethical?

2007-01-05 10:43:15 AM
PETA is most probably a straw man organization set up by the meat industry.

That is all.

2007-01-05 10:44:22 AM
so it's more ethical to ignore a freezing, hungry animal, just because it's going to be slaughtered to feed people later? Even with all sympathy for animals aside, this is food product that is going to eventually feed people...PETA cares more about animals than it does people, and while that seems warm and fuzzy, it's insane to put anything else higer in importance than humans.

Ethical? Maybe. Sometimes you deal with what nature throws at you and ethics isn't involved much. Those blizzards are biatches

2007-01-05 10:45:11 AM
Well, as a Coloradoan who's been stuck with this dickwad governor for the past eight years, I can definitively say Owens is no better that PETA as far as his stupid stances and hypocritical statements.

I had a pet hot pocket once. That confused the hell out of PETA.

Is that you, Jim Gaffigan?

2007-01-05 10:45:29 AM
Wait now PETA has to save some cattle so that some herder doesn't lose money?

PETA spokeswoman Reannon Peterson took the call, and bluntly replied: "You're going to save them, and then in six months they're going to be killed and end up on someone's plate. So I don't know that it's really the most noble cause."

Sounds like a way to make PETA waste resources. How about we call NASCAR when Chrysler needs another bailout.

"Peterson added that wild animals caught in the blizzard's wake -- the same animals PETA routinely criticizes hunters for bagging -- also weren't worth spending PETA's money to save."

"It's an act of God," she said. "There's really nothing to be done"

Hey Peterson. I have an opening for a PR person. You seem very qualified. Great job with the whole Colorado blizzard thing.

I'm thinking the wild animals in Colorado are capable of dealing with snow. They've been doing it for quite some time now.

If by "dealing with it" you mean "starving to death" . . . you're right, they can handle it. Minnesota had a LOT of deer starving in heavy snow a few years ago.

And I'm fine with that -- the herds can recover. But I'm not staging stunts to publicize the plight of the poor animals, then ignoring them when they are in trouble.

And if the state of Minnesota had half a brain, the homeless in Minneapolis could have been eating Bambi burgers all weekend.

I belonged to PETA in my college days. Then I snapped out of that phase and regained common sense. While the spirit of the cause is noble, most of what they do is staged, phony and so theatrical that it scares and angers people.

Nah, just being honest.

He probably lost the Boulder vote too, but then he probably never had it.

Boulder is just Boulder.

Besides, this guy is leaving office next week....why not make a couple of enemies.

And for the record, he didn't run this most recent election, as term limits prevented him.

The current gov is R, the governor-elect is D.

PETA consists of nothing but spoiled little rich kids and stupid people that are just needing something to grasp onto.
