I wonder if this product will be as successful as the Flowbee.

//Laughed ass off when the inventor said that he's working on version for Negro hair.
///Flowbee slashies

Those shoes suck.

It has a tiny rechargeable vacuum inside the base.
And there is a laser movement sensor which switches the suction on and off automatically to save energy. It's all made of green nylon with a flexible rubber sole and elastic sock to fit any foot making it comfortable to wear.

I guess someone had to say it... This Thread is Useless Without Pics.

I think 1870-1920 would have been a good time to live. Now? Only modestly so.

2006-12-29 10:32:52 AM
Research found that only 28 per cent Hoover daily - down six per cent in the last two years.

And just 37 per cent do it every three days - down from 32 per cent.

Huh? Isn't that overkill? What is wrong with walking around barefoot? That seems to pick up the dust well.

2006-12-29 10:33:55 AM
This is a TERRIBLE mistake. Mark my words.

I disagree. Cholera and Spanish Flu and WWI were bummers. Narrow it to 1890-1910 and I'm there with you.

Meh. I started to 'shop a cannister vacuum onto someone feet as they were walking around a house....kinda like a huge cannister vacuum shoe.

Then I decided the joke wasn't worth the effort. You've got the mental image now anyway. Good enough for a days work.

/just image June Cleaver wearing a dress with the vac's on her foots.

A great time to be alive? I'll go for 2090-2130. It seems like chicks keep getting hotter over the years and I'd like to see the progression forward. Of course, we'll all be speaking Chinese by then.

Help! I'm stuck to the floor! Turn them off! Turn them off!

On the plus side, we'll be able to order from the menu and not rely on the buffet.

This concept is not new. These were first invented by ex-president Sherbert Shoover.

Make them dog shaped and sized. Let my dogs chase each other all over the house and pick up the fuzz balls they're shedding!

All well and good, except the majority of dust and dirt is not where you walk, it's next to walls and in corners.

I figure the future is Roomba-type vacuums, but powered by ethanol fuel cells and with "quiet" technology. Having a much more potent power supply, it will be able to cruise all over a house or apartment, and only stop when it needs to dump its load or every 4 or 5 hours for an ethanol recharge, both of which it can do at a 'station'.

Then, its robotic brain will use IR light to map every room it visits, like with radar, so it can make a floor plan for every room, know when it has covered the entire floor, and move to the next room.

It might even have WIFI with a PC to give it more complex programming, perhaps different settings for different surfaces; show a floor plan status update; run diagnostics; etc. Maybe it will even be able to notify its owner of problems, like unusual objects or liquids on the floor.

Once the power and noise problems are solved, oh yeah.

28% Vacuum EVERY DAY???? WTF??? that's crazy..

I run the Roomba once a week. Works fine. Hands off.

The problem with the shoes is that...I don't want to wear shoes inside the house....

Man--foot fetishists are gonna love them.

I'd link to a pic of Al Bundy's ShoeLights(tm)(r)(c) but nothing came up on GIS so you'll just have to remember what they looked like.

Sure. I'll believe that when phones also take pictures.

2006-12-29 11:49:55 AM
too bad humans don't cover the area that needs to be cleaned, naturally. We walk in paths.

Roomba FTW.

2006-12-29 12:00:02 PM
whammer - good call. There's actually already a commercial level version of something like the Roomba (Electrolux Trillobite?) that supposedly maps rooms and is programable. But it costs close to $2k as opposed to Roomba's $200ish. And I don't know how quiet it is.

/Ah well. Someday when I win the lottery. *snark!*

When subby said "vacuum shoes that suck up the dust as you walk around", does subby mean that I have to walk around?

'cause, man, that's too much work.

That Dyson guy will get ahold of the shoes, and they will then be capable of limited low level flight as well.

Why does "foot powered vaccuum" make me think of an audio-animatronic worlds fair display transplanted to DisneyWorld showing technological progress in the home?

Or of an illustration of a woman with bellows on each foot connected to a backpack connected to a vaccuum cleaner nozzel?
