I can't believe a place of higher learning would be interested in housing a library for a dunce who has no regard for science, and doesn't even read the newspaper. tells you a lot about smu.

Cewley

you said what I was gonna say. Can one "politely decline" to host a Presidential library?

Oh, and anyway, shouldn't it be at Yale?

Ditch the whole idea and give the money to Katrina victims.

Much better idea.

Clinton's isn't even at a college, it's just overlooking the Arkansas river next to the River Market in Little Rock. It's actually pretty nice, architecturally. I've never been inside it, though.

Let's build a $500 million dollar library to honor the worst President in history! Brilliant!

There's only one spot appropriate for Bush's presidential library.

Yucca Mountain.

Come on you guys are not being unfair. He loves books. He loves them so much that the US can have one of it's worst attacks on it's soil and he will still sit there reading a book after he is told about it. No other president would show that dedication to reading a book.

I just love how religious universities stepped up for a chance to host Dubya's library. I guess UNT or UT or UH or even Rice didn't want to touch it, eh?

/go farkin figure.

Stop me if your boss told you this one too:

There was a flood at the Bush presidential library.

(Audience: Awwwwww.)

Both books were destroyed.

(Rim shot.)

(Audience: Ha ha ha.)

And the saddest thing is, he had only finished coloring in one of them.

(Rim shot.)

(Audience: Groan.)

The end.

If they are filling it with books he hasn't read and maybe should have, than I can see where it would be a huge library indeed

It's fitting for Bush that his presidential archive will be the one that is most off-limits to historians thanks to all the executive orders he signed about sealing off the records for unprecedented periods of time. (it was one of the first things he did when taking office).

It's a great metaphor for the kind of obscurantism that we've come to expect from this puke.

Hmmm... SMU, a school with a football program so corrupt that it was the only one in the history of the NCAA to receive the death penality.

Seems like a great fit!

Carter's is the most aesthetically pleasing of the presidential libraries I've seen, but Truman's will always be #1 to me.

True story about SMU -

I considered going there when I graduated highschool in 1991, but wanted to study environmental civil engineering. They shut down their civil engineering department that year because engineers do not make enough money to send their kids to SMU.

You need to have and spend more money than God to go there and get the same education as I got from going to a public college and paying attention.

Contacts and networking are another matter. For that you need to pay up and mingle with the high populorum (sp?) of society and not just podunk state university.

Another issue about other nearby schools not taking this on -
Texas A&M College Station already has Bush I's library, or liberry as we call it.

UT Austin has LBJ's library.

I am guessing a school will not grab at 2 presidential libraries. LBJ owned Austin and ran it like Richard Daley ran Chicago back in the day. He kept TV stations other than the 1 he owned or controled out of town for years in the 60's.

No mention on how they plan to fill an entire library with children's books

Well, they can start with everything Ann Coulter has written, and then proceed to Bill O'Reilley, and, well, you get the idea.

These books, still unsold, fill several warehouses. I am sure they can fill a library or two.

/Throw in any left-wing screeds you like, but I doubt they would be appropriate for the Bush Library.

//On the other hand, they would certainly like my latest book: "Number 1...The Larch"

///It started out as a Bush.

Can anyone count the number of critical government activities (Difficulty: don't mention Katrina) that were cut by $10M by Bush? Line of 50 of those, and you have one Bush glorificaiton library.
