Was Clinton Portis involved?

Saw this video a few days ago. I'm assuming it has the guy that painted himself orange on it without watching it again?

That just goes to show you how dumb they are if they'd take a picture of a guy that painted himself orange. Should have a sad tag. LOL

"The DMV in none to thrilled when 3 men go to the DMV in different disguises and get 6 licenses made in their different disguises."

??? Is "None Too Thrilled" a movie or something?

I didn't RTFA but I'm sure there's a stiff penalty for getting fake ids with forged documents.

/yes, I said stiff

Now I understand why NC gave me such a fit when I wanted to trade a VA license for a NC.

"The DMV is none to thrilled". Fix that "to" please, or I'll kick sand in your face.

mialynneb: I didn't RTFA but I'm sure there's a stiff penalty for getting fake ids with forged documents.

IDs are genuine, and they did not use any falsified docs to get them. They merely wore fake beards and the like. Not against DMV rules, which is why the DMV is pissed. If the guys had broken DMV rules / the law, the DMV would just have them arrested. Since they can't, and just look stupid, they are incensed.

Congrats to these two losers for blowing half a day in the DMV so they could have fun-nay pictures on their ID's. Hilarious.

FTFA: Posted last week, the nearly two-minute clip has already prompted the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles to revisit policies regarding how the state agency reissues driver's li- censes and how photographs appear on IDs.

This hyphenation of licenses -- is this a new grammar rule I should be following?

This thread is useless without pics of the licenses. The small one in the article just doesn't cut it for me.

TFA: "Clearly these individuals abused the system," Foy said.

Well, it's a good thing criminals don't abuse the system; otherwise, this would be indicative of a gaping security hole in your system.

What's that? They what? Oh... nevermind, then.

2006-12-20 04:22:33 PM
See, what's really funny about this, is that these guys are just going to be punished, rather than the state examining its own problems that lead to them being able to do what they did. Cos that's the way it works around here. If you take advantage of the glaring problems with the system - then you're the dick, not the morons who made the system.

i feel very safe.

2006-12-20 04:23:25 PM
"It is not the role of the customer-service representative to tell an individual how they should or should not look in a driver's license photo," Foy said, so long as the picture gives an accurate portrayal of the person. "Would it be appropriate for us to ask a cancer patient why her wig doesn't look right? Or an accident victim why their teeth are misaligned?"

Ok...the guy painted his face red...

2006-12-20 04:23:55 PM
In Texas you don't even have to get a new photo for a license reissue. Mine's been sporting the same photo for the last 7 years, and this one doesn't expire until 2011. I don't think I'd even have to get a photo made then, just renew online.

Probably should get a new photo made at some point -- otherwise my license is going to start looking like a Realtor's business card.

2006-12-20 04:24:10 PM
How the heck did one person get 3 licenses reissued in a day? Shouldn't the computers red flag such an obvious request?

All I read was a plug for some vidiots.
Attention whoring: Hey, what can we do to get some free publicity? I know, let's "eff" with the DMV!

ffacker: This hyphenation of licenses -- is this a new grammar rule I should be following?

It is indeed a new gra- mmatical rule, involving not only a hyphen but a gratuitous space following said hyphen, and the rule is to be used in a ca- pricious manner.

While I was renewing my license a few months ago, I watched some older black woman get her license picture while wearing a bleach-blonde wig. I thought the picture was supposed to be for identification purposes?

When my youngest brother was 18 he went to the DMV, said he was my older brother who was over 21. He got a license with the older age and name, but with his actual picture.

Voila!

framed on my wall at home is a real driver's license i got when i was 18. at the time all one had to do is send mail to a PO box (but include some fake address on the envelope as well), pick up that mail, bring to any voter's registration site, use sent mail as proof of address and apply for a voter's reg card, then when voters reg card shows up take to DMV and use as proof of residence.
took 3 voters reg bureaus to get one to give me a voters reg card, then worked on first DMV i went to.

nothing like using a real "fake ID" to buy beer in college.

license long since expired. that loophole is too now.

This from the state that issued IDs to a number of the 9/11 hijackers. Good ole VA, way to clean up your act.

This isn't slashdot. Read TFA, Noob.

They weren't fake. They got reissued licenses by claiming theirs was lost and managed to get a reissue twice (for each person) each time being in a different disguise.

It's to verify that you are who you say you are. If you take a picture of yourself with a rediculous wig or mustache or something, you're only screwing yourself. It just gives people more reason not to believe you.

Jeebus, doesn't anyone RTFA anymore. They are not being punished, unless you count this:

Letters were sent yesterday from the DMV to the pair, requiring them to appear within 15 days to reapply for a license because the photos were not accurate portrayals of their faces

You don't view having to spend more time in the DMV as punishment? Did you have a stroke or something?

Okay...looks like the headline was changed. I should learn to read before post. Bad me! And ffacker, the hyphenation is likely a copy-over from the publishing software the newspaper used. They needed the hyphenation for a piece that was running in a column. It was mistakenly transferred over to the online version.

/Never worked in a newsroom or anything...just an educated guess since I've read a newspaper and know people are lazy/inattentive.
