I bet he could pull all kinds of chicks with this thing.

2002-07-25 04:32:35 PM
that is one of the coolest things i've ever seen

2002-07-25 04:32:40 PM

This was at DragonCon a few years ago. Kicks but. Sorry about the size.

2002-07-25 04:33:35 PM
Sllllloooooowwwww.

Farking in prgress?

2002-07-25 04:33:49 PM

2002-07-25 04:33:56 PM
Poor tree....

2002-07-25 04:34:03 PM
A MADCAT. In your back yard.
Farking cool.

2002-07-25 04:34:24 PM
2 Ls and 2 Ns.

You'd think with all the millennium nonsense we had, people would've learned that by now.

2002-07-25 04:34:42 PM
What a cool Dad! Makes up for the whole clan thing.
Time to join a Sims clan.

2002-07-25 04:34:42 PM
NNNNNNEEEERRRRRRDDDDDD..... but it is really cool.

2002-07-25 04:35:00 PM
one word : dorks.

2002-07-25 04:36:50 PM
Wow, a Timberwolf. Wish I could build one, but I wouldn't be satisfied unless it was life size, had the default weapons loadout, and a star of trueborns from my sibko. I realize I've probably overemphasized my nerd-dom, but I've loved Battletech for the last fifteen years.

2002-07-25 04:38:20 PM

That Kicks Ass!

Much better than the oversized, under-cool Millenium Falcon project (although, I must say I could do neither of them)

2002-07-25 04:38:24 PM
I really don't know what it is but it looks really cool.

2002-07-25 04:38:29 PM
whatever, any 5-10 year old kid would LOVE to have this in the back yard. they would be the envy of all the kids on the block. DORK??? the guy spent a ton of time to build something that would make his kids happy, how is that dorky?

2002-07-25 04:38:40 PM
I take back what I said, there really are Sims clans...

2002-07-25 04:38:47 PM
Cool beans, dudes.

When I was a lad the equivalant of this was just a printed carboard submaring with tubes to fire plastic torpedos.

Rock-on, dads.

2002-07-25 04:38:48 PM
damn thing crashes my browser. can't see it

2002-07-25 04:38:53 PM
Farked.

And anything Battletech related kicks @ss.

2002-07-25 04:39:07 PM
Wow... what a dork. If there's a woman who will marry that guy and bear his children, there's hope for me yet.

2002-07-25 04:41:19 PM
Thats cool. I dunno were they found the time and money to do that though.

2002-07-25 04:41:55 PM
Some HTML guy post some pics for the peeps.

2002-07-25 04:41:55 PM
Bringing my dork factor more to light from this, but Kwix, that's a picture of a robot from Heavy Gear, a mechwarrior spin-off of sorts.
Either an Iguana or Black Mamba, I think...

2002-07-25 04:42:31 PM
A Timber Wolf, of course. There are so few truly cool-looking Battlemech designs. Atlases are awe-inspiring, as well as some of the other Heavy and Assault Mechs. Most of the rest look severely deformed, with mis-matched limbs or anemic waists (don't get me started on the UrbanMech). Most of the Clan designs look like chickens.

2002-07-25 04:42:53 PM
You know what would be cool?
A life sized Death Star! Fun for all.

2002-07-25 04:44:00 PM
Nobody thought the backyard Millennium Falcon was cool; we ripped on that P.O.S. for days.

I have no comment on the mech for obvious reasons.

2002-07-25 04:44:16 PM
I sure outgrew that kind of stuff, but I know I would have LOVE it when I was a kid. As far as I remember, those kind of stuff were you climb and pretend it was a boat/spaceship/whatever were the best toys for me.
There was a park not far from where I grew up, where they had an almost-life-size pirate ship made of tree logs. You could climb the mast and shiat. Boy, those were the days!

2002-07-25 04:44:40 PM
Am I the only farker who thinks this isn't the coolest thing? Anyone? Anyone? Buehler?

2002-07-25 04:46:28 PM
I agree with Ash216.

Any father who would spend 7 months making a tree house for his kids deserves an award. Seriously this is the coolest thing. I mean, my dad was pretty cool, but this just takes the cake.

2002-07-25 04:46:43 PM
what if he moves....is that considered a home improvement project ?

2002-07-25 04:47:15 PM
Jeez, when I was a kid my dad painted a piece of plywood bright orange, leaned it up against a ladder, and told me to go pretend I was a Matchbox car. Then he threw empty Bud cans at me while I was lying on the ground.

2002-07-25 04:47:16 PM
"They love watching Daddy play the game with his team the ComStar Guard as part of the Free Universe Mechwarriors League..."

Yeah. If there's one thing I do know, it's that kids LOVE to watch their dads play video games.

2002-07-25 04:48:17 PM
I admit it... I love playing MechWarrior 4. This guy sounds like one cool dad. That's the coolest thing I've seen in a while. Helluva job.

I'm sorry I've not read the FArQ or I'd post a pic... (it took over 5 minutes for this page to load on my T100 connection at work...)

2002-07-25 04:49:35 PM
Can anyone send me a link to a site that features the guy who made the transformer costume that ACTUALLY transforms?

2002-07-25 04:49:41 PM
I'd hit it.

2002-07-25 04:49:54 PM
"Unfortunately, by the time the project was finished the children were off to college. 'But Jim gets to play in it still...'"

Ok so the article didnt say that...

2002-07-25 04:50:38 PM
Fark-ed.....I did, it was me!!!!!, shouldn't have reloaded.

2002-07-25 04:50:38 PM
Are you kidding, Logweasel? This is exactly the kind of man a sensible woman wants to marry. Somebody who has talent, motivation, and dedication to the children.

2002-07-25 04:51:02 PM
Bondith - You dare decry the mighty Urban Mech? Back in college we had an Urban Mech player. He refered to his mech as Meridith Baxter-Birney. We suspect it had something to do with her hairstyle.

2002-07-25 04:51:04 PM
Pretty slick design, but I would watch those reverse knee joints pretty closely for stress fractures. Especially if the kids take to jumping up and down inside the thing.

2002-07-25 04:51:06 PM
No, I didn't think the backyard Millenium Falcon was cool.

2002-07-25 04:52:59 PM
MetaPhyzix
Danged if I remeber. All I know is the sucker was approx 22 feet high. Not too bad for a freestanding fiberglass replica of something that doesn't exactly exist. I have a few really good photos elsewhere, but they are not digital.

2002-07-25 04:53:12 PM
Andonbray: Neither do I. And the page didn't load. And I really didn't care.

2002-07-25 04:53:16 PM
very cool, of course the vulture and shadow cat are much cooler looking, but hey 75 tonner = more guns, da?

shame they never made the dual guass loadout for the madcat, that would have been a nice machine.

And to all you clanners... fark you its a madcat not a timberwolf... earth is in the inner sphere. we call 'em madcats.

2002-07-25 04:54:54 PM
If dad really cared to please the kids, he would've built the girls a Barbie house. Dork (and not the good kind).

2002-07-25 04:57:04 PM
Ok, nay-sayers aside, I think that's pretty damn cool. Impressive job.. most ppl who attempt something like this end up producing total crap. That's all quality.

2002-07-25 04:57:15 PM

geez that thing is HUGE

2002-07-25 04:57:24 PM
Yes, I do deride the UrbanMech. The thing looks like a garbage can with legs.

If it makes you happy, I'll rag on the Locust instead. Now that *does* look like a chicken.

2002-07-25 04:57:25 PM
You know, funny thing is, I was just over at the wizkids site, when it started acting funny, loading real slow, then not loading at all, and I was like WTF?!
So I came over to Fark to continue avoiding work, and lo and behold, I see Wizkids is Farked. Quite a coincidence...

2002-07-25 04:57:42 PM
hmm how to get farked; a good start is having the page take over 2 farking megabytes in images to load. page 1 of 10, compressed .jpg's, things like that helps. maybe even thumbnails.
