I guess me and my wife were two of the twenty. We really liked the show.

2006-12-18 02:42:06 PM
My gf and I were another two. I need to stop watching new shows until they finish at least one season.

2006-12-18 02:44:08 PM
I liked it as well. I've been watching online, though, so this probably won't change my viewing habits if they continue to release the show online.

2006-12-18 02:44:14 PM
"Please make the words come back!!!!!"

2006-12-18 03:01:20 PM
I refuse to watch any show in that time slot. My wife and I loved Invasion. ABC just up and cancelled it. Now they did it to fans of "Day Break".

Fark ABC.

2006-12-18 04:20:58 PM
The show was good but I only saw the episodes online.
If I am going to watch the rest then they had better wrap up the day it would stink not to have a finish

2006-12-18 04:33:13 PM
So they cancel this and replace it with quality programs like George Lopez and According to Jim?!

Oh ABC, will you ever win?

2006-12-18 04:36:00 PM
Who needed an ethnic version of Groundhog's Day?

2006-12-18 04:37:19 PM
Can anyone really explain how removing a show that's been shot, paid-for and had so-so ratings, and replacing it with repeats of an older show that will end up with worse ratings, is a good idea?

2006-12-18 04:39:46 PM
Shouldn't networks have a rule of "we should have something better in the pipeline before we cancel an existing show"? What are they going to replace it with? Something more crappy?

I'm not even sure why we have "networks" now anyway. I don't watch a "network" or even "television" I watch television shows. And wth Tivo I rarely watch them live either. I'm surprised that the networks haven't caught on to this and just start airing stuff at 2AM for people to Tivo and perhaps work out a deal with Tivo so that ads are shown.

2006-12-18 04:41:25 PM
And what point did Taye Diggs tell the groundhog "Don't drive angry"?

2006-12-18 04:46:03 PM
That Show sucked ass.

2006-12-18 05:02:48 PM
Day Break was awesome!

ABC is a bunch of idiots. They should have just let it run until Lost came back, and then summed it all up and ended it.

If ANY show had the potential to be that great 1 season show that ran its course did it's thing without being dragged and drained of all freshness, it was Day Break.

ABC is rotting themselves from the inside out.

2006-12-18 05:11:13 PM
Daybreak was decent. There is much worse out there.

2006-12-18 05:14:47 PM
That stinks - I was really enjoying Groundhog Taye.

2006-12-18 05:15:39 PM
They probably should have just shown Groundhog Day instead.
(repeat ad nauseum)

/obligatory

They really need to come up with a new ratings system, since relying on Neilson numbers has resulted in the cancellation of some fantastic, critically acclaimed shows.

I'm thinking at the end of episodes, have a number you can call or text to let them know that you watched it (like american idol)

And (shoot me if this was covered already, I don't backread threads) does anyone see the logic of cancelling a decent mini-series, mid season replacement with only two episodes left to air and replacing it with reruns of George Lopez? That just doesn't make sense to me, unless it was out of spite.

2006-12-18 05:35:04 PM
Networks won't be happy until there's only one channel that every single person in America watches 24/7. They don't care if people like their shows or not, they just want to be #1 All The Time, Period, and they will cancel anything that prevents them from being #1!!

/still pissed about Space, Above & Beyond
//I'm a sad, sad woman

There were only 2 episodes left and they cancelled it? We've been watching too and I can see where this had a limited life. One day he'll have it all solved and wake up to the next day. But to cancel it when you have the shows in the can only to show reruns? Makes no sense to me. Guess that's why I'm not a network programmer.

Now we get reruns of George Lopez? Guess we won't be watching ABC on Wednesday nights.

And Studio 60 is one of the most expensive shows ever made, has abysmal ratings and got renewed. I know it's a different network but they all work with the same hive mind.

2006-12-18 05:58:19 PM
I had little interest in this show until today when perusing Foobies I saw Victoria Pratt's link and find she's on the show. Having looked into it, the portentously named Moon Bloodgood is pretty damn easy on the yes too.

Studio 60 got renewed?!

You've got to be kidding me. Maybe a lot of those Neilson families were just to lazy to switch to something else after "Heroes."

2006-12-18 06:00:36 PM
I miss Heist. 5 episodes of Elmore Leonard-style goodness. Started out after Lost. Got moved to compete against it and cancelled immediately.

So sad.

2006-12-18 06:23:14 PM
Why do they need to cancel the show? They could just continue to replay all the episodes they've already shot, and freak out the potheads that watch the show. Dude I swear I've seen this one before.

2006-12-18 06:23:26 PM
was this show written by the same guy who wrote firefly?

if so, its obvious to see why it got canned

/liked SOME episodes of fire fly
//hated most the characters
///didnt mind the movie

2006-12-18 06:29:52 PM
That show was great!!! What a shame.. I only watch four or five shows each week and that was one of them.

That's the thing, it got shiatty ratings. Although Heroes is the perfect lead in for Studio 60. One is about the most important people on the planet doing work that will decide the fate of the entire world. The other has a funny Japanese guy.

Nicely put.

Man, thank god NBC renewed Studio 60

that show is one of the best on network tv, it's good to see well written, character driven shows given a chance to shine.

I really don't understand the Studio 60 haters...I got hooked when I watched the leaked pilot a couple months before it went on the air...I don't think I've ever actually cared about characters straight out of the pilot

2006-12-18 06:57:45 PM
My father liked this show for some odd reason. Although he picked a winner with Lost three or four years ago, he hasn't been hot since then. I guess that can be also said about Invasion, which he though was hot too, but was pretty bad.

DWT Samus: I really don't understand the Studio 60 haters...I got hooked when I watched the leaked pilot a couple months before it went on the air...I don't think I've ever actually cared about characters straight out of the pilot

It's just so pretentious and self important. Everyone's a genius and their comedy show is the on the front lines in this made up culture war between the enlightened people and the religious right in the flyover states. And the "sketches" within the show aren't funny.

I just wanted to say that "Smith" was awesome. One of the three shows I actually watched. They cancelled that after three weeks. Farkers.

/The one with Ray Liotta.

2006-12-18 10:34:33 PM
Damn it! I really liked that show too. And i dont watch much television. Farking ABC would rather show garbage like George Lopez and According to Jim??

If it wasnt for Lost i would avoid that network like the plague.

2006-12-18 11:38:19 PM
two more weeks?

i thought it was going to run (without reruns) until lost started back up, like on feb 7.

so that's like 6 more wednesdays or something.

the daybreak "my guess is, they should just run groundhog day instead" thread was one of my favorites of the year.

DVD sales? Drop the show then offer the "complete series" on DVD - you gotta buy the box set to find out how it ends.

My wife and I enjoyed watching this until LOST started back up.

ABC sucks.

This was a good show. What's the point of cancelling a limited-run (12 episode) stand-alone drama? Now what are us non-USAers going to do? We can't watch the shows on the ABC Web site for some reason. I guess that means getting them through some other, er, means. Networks are really shooting themselves in the foot. How can they expect us to latch on to great shows (Invasion, Smith, The Nine) when they don't even give them a chance to develop a loyal audience? We might as well not watch network TV and instead just wait for the DVDs.

2006-12-19 11:33:34 AM
I really liked Day Break, and this news pisses me off. It was something different. and I think i had parts of it figured out. So now I have to wait for it to come out on DVD, and ABC gets some of my money....bastards.

2006-12-19 02:52:16 PM
This doesn't sounds all that dumb to me. The news media has been saying for months: "In the future, some shows will be available ONLY ONLINE." But it seems that networks have been too affraid to try it out on a really good show for fear of losing potential advertisers. This is a perfect oportunity: a fantastic show that was poorly marketed (IMHO) and has poor ratings.

Now, I can only hope they're smart enough to make all the old episodes available too, for those who didn't get into it from the pilot. This is one show you really have to keep up with.
