Everson Walls is a good man. I got the chance to meet him when he was a player for the Giants in the early 90's.

Normally, I despise football, but this makes me ashamed to say:

I HATE FOOTBALL!

Uh, that's great and all, but don't you think you should quit farking so as to not hinder the surgery?

The 'Sappy' tag would probably be more appropriate.

Is this what they mean by Cover 1?

Oh, man, am I glad I caught you, Mr. Walls. I made a terrible mistake. You're not adopted.

I'd like to tell you about a guy I know, a friend of mine. His name is Brian Piccolo. And he has the heart of a giant, and that rare form of courage that allows him to kid himself and his opponent, cancer. He has a mental attitude that makes me proud to have a friend who spells out the world 'courage,' 24 hours a day, every day of his life. Now you honor me by giving me this award. But I say to you here now Brian Piccolo is the man who deserves the George S. Halas award. It is mine tonight... and Brian Piccolo's tomorrow. I love Brian Piccolo. And I'd like all of you to love him too. And so tonight, when you hit your knees, please ask God to love him.

/Hero indeed

You would never see an Eagle do this. F Philly.

Now to teach his son how to make an open-field tackle, instead of flying past his man in a failed attempt to make "Jacked Up".

He should give the junior Springs his hands.

Everson Walls was a hero of mine as a child. I met him once at a weekly Cowboys broadcast that Brad Sham hosted at El Chico in Dallas in the early 80's. I got his autograph during one of the commercial breaks, but I also distinctly remember that he stayed a good half-hour after the broadcast was over until all the kids who wanted an autograph got one.

A hero then, and an even bigger hero now.

Godspeed to both Mssr. Walls and Springs.

There is an NFL player with kidneys healthy enough to donate?

So I was having a conversation over thanksgiving with my de-facto brother in law(engaged, but they arent really in a huge hurry to get married). We were trying to figure out what it is about running backs that makes them so consistently the major drama queens of football teams. I figured it was all those heavy hits rattling their brains around and making them deranged...

Wide receivers are the drama queens. See the post under yours.

Darn, I was looking for all those cynics out there saying what an idiot Everson Walls is. Where are all the selfish trolls?

2006-12-12 07:30:05 PM
I never heard of him, cause I like baseball and rugby and tennis, but that is pretty cool, even though that don't play together anymore he's willing to give a piece of himself to save a friend, a hero tag is not need but a cool tag is.. thus I am the motherfarking voice of reason for.. let's see carry the 9.. screw it alot of times.

lurch_E_bean While leaving our little MExican restaurant tonight, ESPN had a banner running that said "Happy Ann'y, Gale Sayers". I told Mrs. R that that was one movie ("Brian's Song") where men were allowed... nay, required... to cry. And now you post this... and I'm just blubbering like an old fool. I love you, Emerson. I love you, dirtybird408. I love you, Johnny Walker.

Tungsten--Rail-,

a hero tag is not need but a cool tag is..

If you save somebody's life then you are a hero in my book.

Everson Walls, I salute you.

But the thing you must look for is if you rushed out and said yeah I'm gonna save that guy or: hmm I think about it a couple days while he's dying then spin it in the news to fit my style and everyone will love me.

so were you two rattled by several heavy hits? name a drama queen RB. really, one. MAYBE clinton portis. if not him, then who?

The source for the story is Shawn Springs, the son of the recipient, not Everson Walls, the donor.
