Once they get rid of the parts of it that make most people vomit it might work.

I'm going to search for articles about snooker cues, public loos, penny chews or church pews.

I want to get me another greenlight, and this new meme looks like the quickest way.

I have had Philipino food before... my old baby sitter was philipino. It wasn't too bad, I would prefer eating thai, but I don't mind those goofy philips either.

2006-12-11 01:20:46 PM
I'm Filipino, and I rarely eat FIlipino food. In fact, I found out that some of my favorite Filipino dishes are actually Chinese.

Give me lumpia and some cantaloupe juice and I'm good.

That's not what balut is. It's a fertilized duck egg, with a nearly developed embryo within it, that is boiled. It's popular all over south-east Asia. Different SE Asian cultures let the embryo develop to different stages.

And don't knock it till you've tried it (with chilli sauce).

Growing up in Florida, my stepmother was Filipino, and good gawd damn the food was fantastic(well the stuff that wasn't just a fish head in a pot anyway). Oddly spiced chicken, some kind of noodles with tons of crap, meat chunks in a pot over sweet rice. Rice cake thing..

Hell, I don't remember what a single farking thing was called, but damn do I miss her cooking.

Top 10 Reasons Filipino-American will not be President By David Letterman

10. The White House is not big enough for in-laws and extended relatives.

9. There are not enough parking spaces at the White House for 2 Honda Civics, 2 Toyota Land Cruisers, 3 Toyota Corollas, Mercedes Benz, BMW (Big Mean Wife), and MPV (My Pinoy Van).

8. Dignitaries generally are intimidated by eating with fingers at State dinners.

7. There are too many dining rooms in the White House - where will they put the Last Supper picture?

6. The White House walls are not big enough to hold a set of giant wooden spoon and fork.

5. Secret Service staff won't respond to "pssst...pssst".

4. Secret Service staff are uncomfortable driving the Presidential car with a Holy Rosary hanging on the rear view mirror or having the statue of the Santo Nino on the dashboard.

3. No budget allocation to purchase karaoke machines in every White House room.

2. State dinners do not allow "Take Home".

AND THE NUMBER 1 REASON WHY THERE COULDN'T BE A
FILIPINO-AMERICAN US PRESIDENT IS....

1. Air Force One does not allow overweight Balikbayan boxes!

///More lumpia please!

I love Philipino food. The best is "lechon kawali". Essentially, it's deep-fried pork bellies (bacon). It really is fantastic!!!

Filipino Cuisine? What Boiled Dog on a stick?

2006-12-11 01:28:53 PM
Pig's blood is a sauce that works in a dish called denuguan (spelling?). When this dish has tripe in it, it is vomit-inducing. When it has pork, it truly rises to the level of the name "chocolate meat."

It's great when even Filipinos admit their cuisine sucks.

That was the first Filipino food my filipina g/f gave me to eat (the pork variety). Wasn't too bad.

Sorry, but it is crap- especially in the Philippines. Bad water, bad produce, bad livestock. It's tolerable here in the states (ponsit ftw), but cripes- in the philippines they put thousand island dressing on everything- and it doesn't taste remotely like the stuff we're used to here. And they really don't know what cheese is, but they still serve their interpretation of it- which is some kind of yellow-ish gelatinous goo.

/had a filipina gf for 7 years

Here's a tip: Don't eat at a Filipino restaurant located next to a pound.

/I loves me some filipino food.

Adobo, lumpia, pinakbet...all very yummy.

However, this one sounds not so yummy:

Betamax - common street food, roasted dried chicken blood, served in little cubes, the origin of the name is quite funny because of its squared shape and black color, identical to a minitiurized Electronic Betamax tape.
