Luckily this will go nowhere....

All the right reasons to impeach him are listed in that article but the biggest reason NOT to is absent..... President Cheney (shudder)

The Real Damien

The dems know that, they just aren't talking about it in public.

That may very well be true, but in this she also happens to be right.

2006-12-08 08:04:56 PM
I don't think she was the primary choice to champion the impeachment cause... it sorta makes it go limp. She's the Santorum of the Democratic Reps for crying out loud.

RobertBruce, that term is usually reserved for ring-wing idiots. I think the proper epitet for Ms. McKinney would be:

I'd rather she just walk up and punch him.

It's only fair. There are so many threads where the "conservatives" can't even dare to show their faces that McKinney gives them one of the only openings they can get anymore.

what are the rules in congress regarding how many times a particular bill can be submitted to the floor for consideration?

pilto: what are the rules in congress regarding how many times a particular bill can be submitted to the floor for consideration?

Every bill is unique.

Apply the question to the abortion debate.

McKinney is irrelevant.

2006-12-08 08:29:40 PM
President Cheney? No tanks.

2006-12-08 08:47:04 PM
The Cheney deterrent is irrelevant as it would take most of the remaining time W's got in office to actually get an impeachment done. This would be symbolic more than anything else and is something I completely agree with.

And yet, she is closer to being right...and right in the head...than Bush will ever be. Sad, ain't it?

I don't think "impeach" means "remove from office," does it?

Actually, no.
The coiner of the term, Libertarian Perry de Havilland of Samizdata says a moonbat is "someone on the extreme edge of whatever their -ism happens to be".

Kiribub: I don't think "impeach" means "remove from office," does it?

Correct. Clinton was impeached, but it was voted down.

Frankly, I don't think we need to impeach Bush to make him look any stupider. Just stand around and wait. He'll shoot himself in the foot again and again. The man is a about a month away from lame-duckitude anyway.

On the one hand, I don't like Bush because of his terrible leadership, incompetent administration, and criminal drive to war.

On the other hand, I don't like McKinney because she's batshiat crazy.

I'm so conflicted.

Remember people, simple rules for impeachment. You need to have 1/2 of the reps for impeachment. Then it goes to the senate. You need 2/3 of them for removal/sensure/beheading.

/Todays civics lesson
//be kind, drunk

2006-12-08 11:23:04 PM
Saiga410: You need 2/3 of them

Which is why it will never happen. Better to actually do something that they can point at in 2 years and not waste time and political capitol on a witch hunt that in the end will do nothing.

right, wrong or indifferent...it's too little, too late.

2006-12-09 12:18:53 AM
Two things:

1) Moving for impeachment now is a bad move. Much better to investigate in the coming months and see what pops up (other than what we already know) to get the public outraged. Impeachment must come from the people (we saw what happens in the 90s when that's not the case).

2) For all you scared of President Cheney: so what? You know he runs the show anyway. The point of impeaching Bush is that it makes it clear that future president can't get away with what he's done. If impeachment doesn't go forth, the next president will just try pushing the envelope even further. It needs to clear that the people will not accept these shenanigans.

2006-12-09 01:29:13 AM
Look, the Republicans had to impeach Clinton to discredit him, or at least try to.

There's no need to do anything to discredit Bush, he's already there and it's going to get worse and worse.

Two years from now, we are still going to be in Iraq and things will be no better. Bush is already at 30% approval, he'll be in the teens by then.

2006-12-09 01:39:52 AM
I await with bated breath the screaming headlines on Fox News about the "Democrat* Party Trying to Impeach Bush" over the weekend.

You know it is coming.

There's the rub, she's not going to be around for the coming months. She was defeated in the Democratic primary

Bush is already at 30% approval, he'll be in the teens by then.

You are forgetting Lincoln's maxim, updated with statistical evidence: You can fool 25-30%, plus or minus 2.5%, of the people all of the time.

So Bush's ratings will NEVAR be in the teens.

2006-12-09 02:55:26 AM
To all the Farkers saying "She's crazy but she's right"....

Did you ever stop to consider WHY the only Dem willing to submit
a bill for impeachment happens to be the same only Dem willing to
publicly claim all the Jews in the Twin Towers called in sick on 9/11?
(They didn't, BTW, FYI if you also believe tTHAT nonsense.....)

Could it possibly be because all the sane Dems have better things
to do with their time than.... this?

2006-12-09 06:30:50 AM
What about suing them for war crimes and high treason? For the things they've done since they are there? For Katrina? For 9/11? For the patriot act, for the military comission act, for the iraq war, ect...?

2006-12-09 07:11:32 AM
I would like to see Bush impeached, removed from office, and then forced to give a public apology for being stupid.

/Would settle for any one of the three.

2006-12-09 07:25:55 AM
why not go for Cheney as opposed to Bush? Make him nervous.

2006-12-09 08:15:03 AM
Why do (some of you) people not know that we can impeach anyone in the presidential cabinet: Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, Rove...

What about suing them for war crimes and high treason? For the things they've done since they are there? For Katrina? For 9/11? For the patriot act, for the military comission act, for the iraq war, ect...?

I second that notion.

/someone needs to post that pic of that nazi germany guy explaining how to incite the public into fear and call anyone who questions your actions unpatriotic

Good to see that she stopped looking for Tupac's killer long enough to author this ESSENTIAL bill.

What's really troubling to me is why with all the educated, sensible, rationale and influencial black women around, the two that get the most headlines are this idiot and Julia Carson from Indy who I don't has shown up to vote in D.C. in the last 7 years.
