Logweasel--Ed Norton. Not that he'd be right for either role, but damn the boy can act.

2002-07-23 02:06:05 PM
"....Cocksucker Matt Damon..."
Oh, it didn't say that, whoops

2002-07-23 02:10:36 PM
They should get M. Night Shama-lama-ding-dong to direct it. It would hella cool.

M. Night is our generation's Alfred Hitchcock.

Marlas_Cancer,

Freakin' beautiful, 'cept David Carradine
looks like Keith Richards these days. Maybe
they could CGI him from old Kung Fu episodes. :-)

2002-07-23 02:15:57 PM
AburKadabur--Hitch would have never written or directed that bastardized version of Stuart Little...though I'll give M. props for the Sixth Sense.

2002-07-23 02:16:28 PM
Except Hitchcock never directed a turd like "Unwatchable"

2002-07-23 02:18:20 PM
Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels

Cormee -
Batman - Stephen Hawking
Superman - Christopher Reeve

CRIPPLE FIGHT!

2002-07-23 02:24:59 PM
Denzel Washington could play Superboy.

2002-07-23 02:25:48 PM
NOGODS, THEPUCK: Nice images from the comic. I think that whole scene of Batman pummelling the snot out of Superman would be worth the price of admission alone. Provided of course they didn't alter the original dialogue. Miller was on fire for that one.

Handi-Man

vs

Tiny Avenger

Cormee-

Who would play robin? How about that kid in the wheelchair from 'malcolm in the middle'? or maybe the wheelchair kid from the burger king kid's club?

2002-07-23 02:39:10 PM
how sad that they actually let people dumb enough to not like Unbreakable interract with the rest of the world. Best movie to come out that summer, hands down. Don't believe me? watch it a second time then try to stay awake through Gladheateher or Braveheart, i mean The Patriot.

The only modern director on par with Shyalaman is Cristopher Nolan. Pretty much everyone else is a hack (Wachowski brothers) or a washed-up has been (Spewberg).

Oh wait, I forgot about Lucas. Yeah, he's good. (there's just no way to communicate that level of sarcasm)

2002-07-23 02:47:15 PM
Hubiestubert, you are absolutely right. I stand corrected.

2002-07-23 02:55:31 PM
DiaBt: it would definately have to be that kid corky...

2002-07-23 03:14:48 PM
Paul Walker???? I thought the article said they were looking for real actors...

JoeyJoeJoe,
Ever see Tigerland? Colin Farrell was pretty damned good in that flick...

2002-07-23 03:36:07 PM
bruce campbell should play every role

2002-07-23 03:36:13 PM
"This thread has made me realize that there really aren't many good actors in the 20's/30's age range."

Good thing Johnny Depp is in his 40's...

So's Matthew Broderick.

How's that for a trip?

Heeey... Broderick could be Bruce if he beefed up a bit. Though he'd be better as a villain, methinks. He and Johnny would both be great as villains.

"07-23-02 03:36:07 PM Monkeyface

Indeed, Monkeyface, indeed.

re: the Darknight thing...
who was jason, and what happened to him

Batman replies, "I will never forget Jason. He was a good soldier. He honored me. But the war goes on

2002-07-23 03:48:54 PM
also, it would be fnuny to see Adam West in a big screen Batman role aain.

2002-07-23 03:49:29 PM
There has NEVER been a good comic book hero movie made.

The hollyweird "directors" have fukked up every attempt.

This will be the same.

2002-07-23 03:49:40 PM
ok, peterson sucked up perfect storm big time but what can you do with george clooney. the guy is an idiot. andrew walker is an awesome, awesome screenwriter. there's a chance here. they need to get frank miller to advise on the script. dark knight returns style and gawdammit, i wanna see a giant penny in the batcave this time or else.

2002-07-23 03:53:10 PM
I would be a better "Batman" or "Superman" because I'm an unknown.

Down with casting a "ringer"!

as long as they keep freddie prinze jr and chris klein far far away from this, it can't suck THAT much.

oh, and scifi, unbreakable sucked raw dick. no, really.

2002-07-23 04:01:19 PM
Puckhead: Jason was Jason Todd. He was the second Robin. He was killed by the joker.

I remember when I first heard about a "Batman" movie years ago....as soon as I found out that "burton" was "in charge"
i proceded to retch.

GEEK POWERS ACTIVATE!
"it's a superhero film so in the end they join forces"?
in 'the dark knight returns' batman practically kills superman and never forgives him.
I believe the graphic novel you're thinking of is "The Dark Knight Strikes Again," the sequel to "The Dark Knight Returns."
If you read back what I just wrote in a Comic Book Guy voice, it works even better.

Doing my part to up the geek ante (cue Comic Book Store Guy):

"The comic you are referring to was released as a series of regular comic books, then reprinted as one graphic novel entitled 'Batman: the Dark Night Returns.' Best. Graphic. Novel. Ever."

It's also worth pointing out that the entire "fight" mostly consists of Superman trying to talk Bruce into turning himself in, and Batman taking advantage of Superman's unwillingness to fight back by beating the crap out of him.

Miller made it pretty clear that Supes was a lot more worried about hurting Bruce than winning the fight.

-anyone who pays money to watch the fodder of "hollyweird super hero" flicks, is just as idiotic as the people who have directed them.

-wait for the dvd...if you must...my geeky friends.

-We have the power! ...sorry He-man.

You magnificant bastard - I will be forwarding my dry cleaning bill directly to you.

Thanks, after the day I had, I needed the laugh.

2002-07-23 05:37:04 PM
Folks, why so much discussion about a bunch of idiots in tights ? Why do you even watch such trash ? Maybe its time we all grow up a bit :-)

2002-07-23 05:45:18 PM
Bruce Willis as The Batman

The Rock as Superman

Christopher Walken should play Ras Al Ghul

2002-07-23 05:51:41 PM
Speaking of idiots in tights, how about the Peter Pan guy as either Batman or Superman, and Bevets as Bibleman - they could team up with Cliche Kitty to fight Domo Kun...

2002-07-23 05:54:06 PM
Y'know, I actually -could- see Bruce Campbell as Superman...

2002-07-23 05:54:40 PM
Keck, the ten-year-old me was a rotten little bastard, but I still like him too much to let him die. While I am busy growing-up, I don't forget to occaisionally practice the skills I learned earlier. Being "ten" every once in a while is good for my psyche.

2002-07-23 06:25:21 PM
Nanook, i broke the neck of this "nasty 10-year old" about a decade ago :-) Maybe i should try to be less serious *gg*

But seriously, i don't think those trash movies are really good for the kids... remember some posts of now grown ups who tried to "fly" down from their garages and broke their legs imitating Superman. Hope next time they try the Empire State Building. Fanatasy is all fine, but mixing fantasy with reality is dangerous i think...

2002-07-23 06:55:08 PM
This thing is gonna ...

SUCK

2002-07-23 07:27:10 PM

I'd pay good money to see [Insert Superhero here] vs. Bibleman, on the condition that BM got beaten to within an inch of his life.

(Hey, we need an out for the sequel.)

Those of you who scoff the Batman vs. Superman conflict are completely missing the point. Batman saw his parents gunned down, and has no faith in anything but his own power. Why should he? Superman was raised to believe in Truth, Justice, and the American Way. To most of us, Superman sounds like a pawn, but consider this: If anyone could establish real justice, it could be someone with Supermans' powers.

So they both fought 'evil', but in Dark Knight it came down to a conflict. The 'authorities' wanted Batman gone. Not because Batman was 'evil', but because they couldn't control him. Superman had to try to decide what was right: Lock up Batman despite Batman's good work, or break loyalty with the 'authorities'?

Fact is, Superman wasn't a complete pawn. He understood that Batman did fight crime well. But he wished that Batman would support 'the system'.

So while Superman equivocated, Batman seized the moment. Superman *allowed* Batman to beat on him for a period of time, because Superman wanted to hear what Batman had to say, and think about it. And in a small way, Superman might've felt that Batman was right, and his own superpowers were a burden to the function of normal human society. After all, what would 'the system' be if Superman hadn't been carrying it all along? Maybe it would be the bunch of hypocritical politicians that Batman always fought against.

Batman taught Superman what it really meant to believe: If you're going to use force, you can't use it halfway. He challenged Superman to the only real fight: Are you willing to die. And basically, Batman won, because Superman knew that he never really risked death at all. Even letting Batman punch him around, Superman learned that he could never really let anyone threaten his life, so really, all his fighting was an abstract force, fought around other peoples' lives and deaths.

Frank Miller's Dark Knight books were not Saturday morning cartoon hero kids stuff. There were real, complex issues of power and morality. This will, no doubt, be lost completely on film. I'm ill with antipathetic anticipation for this movie.

Batman: John Favreau
Superman: Vince Vaughn

What they should instead do is:

A.) Kill Tim Burton to make sure none of his trash gets filmed again...Return to Planet Of The Apes anyone?

B.) Get Kevin Smith to write for a Green Arrow movie. The current Green Arrow comic Smith is doing kicks ass.

C.) Kill Tim Burton's corpse...again.

Props to Githerax for telling the truth about
