Dread Pirate Slasher: Damn, and some of our best trolls were from there, too!

We didn't have ANY farkers from Iran. Not that I'm aware of anyways.

2006-12-03 09:41:46 PM
Plus the article says nothing about fark. For all we know, it's completely unblocked.

2006-12-03 09:45:36 PM
Couldn't find a mention of fark.com either. Nice try.

2006-12-03 09:48:26 PM
I would assume with all the past variations of President Aberzijohnmaddentowelhead that have been done in headlines here that Fark would make the nono place list in Iran.

reading your profile.
Once in a great while, a person comes along that influences so many people that humanity must rethink itself. This is one such story...

I was born in Tehran, Iran on January 27th, 1984. Some babies are born with a full head of hair, but I was also born with a full set of teeth and full beard. I was so strong that I busted straight out of the womb like the kool-aid guy busting through a wall. I also slapped the doctor instead of the other way around.

Since I was born during the height of the Iran/Iraq war and since I was such an epic baby, I signed up to fight and protect my country. I was the only member of a super secret baby paratrooper platoon and was soon dropped into Baghdad to change the tide of the war. In addition to killing more than 50 iraqis, I also assasinated Hussian's little known third son, Dooday.

Excellent.

Hmm...if Iran is afraid of the internet, maybe we should find a way to make sure everyone can get around the government censorship.

Blocked out apparently, thought the article doesn't mention it at all, it still gets greenlit.

Here comes the ignorance train, watch how many people make sweeping generalizations, DTRFA, and good riddance posts.

And for the people that are dim and such, before you comment remember Iran is not an Arab country, it is Persian and they generally don't speak arabic, they speak Farsi.

2006-12-03 10:36:17 PM
might as well get in while I can:

The article makes no mention of Fark.com, or if people in Iran can access it

I don't think anyone offically sets off car bombs in the middle east. they sort of form on their own, then blow up at random times.

Everyone in the middle east is innocent. Just like everyone in prison! Just ask them, they'll tell you.

Of course, everyone in the US is guilty. Again, just ask 'em, they'll tell you!

SecretAgentWoman: Ever heard of hyperbole? No?

Hyperbole? It's flat out wrong. Fark isn't an extreme example of what they would block. It would be more effective to say they blocked aol.com or something. This is just wrong, but doesn't seem exaggerated or a stretch. It's something that I'm willing to bet every single person who doesn't read the article (and a few that do) think is true.

Muddie: Okay, you could save with the huge and just vote against the link, k, thanks.

Fair enough. Like the goggles, it does nothing. I'd rather get facts straight in the thread.

Eh, Car Bombs, ok.

Ill just speak on Weaver's behalf. We were on a car trip near Khūzestān a few years ago, eatingthe local chow when he felt ill. Of course, the crappy rental car's windows wouldnt go down and the ensuing SBD's made me wreck the car. Hell, i was happy enough that a window busted out just for ventilation.

He's not too proud of it, but I think he's a real trooper.

Weaps: Facts have nothing to do with Fark.

Good point.

40below: Damn, you people need to rediscover your sense of humour. It's there somewhere.

It's kind of tough, when there's huge public opinion behind starting a war in a country I have family in and can do nothing to get out. Especially when the majority of opinion is based on iffy facts, speculations, false perceptions, and fear. Thats why I don't like seeing headlines like this, especially when they make a claim that isn't supported.

I probably have lost my sense of humor, but I really don't see whats funny. Ha ha! Blocking fark! my sides!

You mean "'Murrican,' just like Jesus spoke?" Yeah, I'll get right on that.

Making headlines about claims that aren't supported by facts in the article is kinda my trademark. You can ask any mod/min about that, they'll back me on that. I'm kind of a dick that way.

Fair enough. I kinda knew that about you. I thought it was submitted by someone with a specific hatred for Iran and submits a lot of anti-Iran threads.

You're an across the board hater, so thats ok. Still, I don't think it should have been greened. But thats sorta your thing, you know exactly how to float them by.

Damn right Frenchie. Next time you decide to upgrade beyond simple algebra, you just remember the Great Murrican Issac Newton who made that possible. Dont even tell me that crap about De cart or whatever you call him. We have rights, based on Murican greats like Loche and the magna carta, so fark off.

You people in Florida spend six months a year looking at fat, elderly, hairy Quececois in their mini-Speedos, so I figure you suffer more than most, and that's all I have to say about that,

The article DOES mention Amazon, Wikipedia, and IMDB, so it's a pretty safe bet that even if Fark isn't blocked, much of what is posted on Fark will be blocked.

That is true. And would have made for a more accurate headline. Though, I'm starting to learn that it probably wouldn't have gone green then.
