To be fair, AI and bowling alleys don't mix.

Bowling? Man, we're talkin' 'bout bowling!

Seriosuly, i wish the Wolves could sign him. We need a point guard, and we need someone to compliment KG. What would Philly take for him??

Al Jefferson and Sebastian Telfair? Although you dont have those guys.

Why would we want Telfair?

I love AI, but we need to get rid of him and Webber to start this thing over and rebuild.

Panoplos, we'll take every bum you got on the last year of their contract.

I can't claim to have followed the situation very closely, but I remember the rumors at the time were:

Gerald Green
Al Jefferson
-player we'd acquire or draft pick, this is where I got Telfair-

for

Allen Iverson

The problem with Iverson is that he demands to be the central player on your team, but he's basically a 5'11" (if he's 6 feet tall, I'm 7 feet tall) point guard, who really should be distributing to other players, not taking all the shots himself. I mean, every line out of this guy is like 15 for 50. That's not gonna get it done in any significant way.

He's the Michael Vick of the NBA: an "exciting" player who really isn't suited to making his team a winner.

Jake,

Mike Vick didn't win an MVP or carry his team, all by himself, to the finals.

To follow up on my point, can you think of a less-tallented team to ever make the finals than the '01 76ers?

If you subtract Iverson you have:

Aaron McKie
Tyrone Hill
George Lynch
Eric Snow
Dikembe Mutumbo
Matt Geiger
Todd McCulloch
Jumaine Jones

Try to win 30 games with that squad. Try to score over 75 ppg too.

Iverson is the epitome of everything that is wrong with the NBA. And don't give me any of that "heart" crap, he's an arrogant, selfish prick.

yep, that's what needed to be said in this thread...the rest is gravy

Bowling.

The Sixers were lucky he didn't show up. He probably would have assaulted someone with a bar stool. That fine would have been slightly higher.

/John Thompson probably wouldn't have been able to bail him out this time

MugzyBrown: Mike Vick didn't win an MVP or carry his team, all by himself, to the finals.

Mutumbo was there to clean up Iverson's 30 misses a game. Sixers were also decent when Ratliff was getting boards for them.

If Iverson is so great by himself, why couldn't he ever come close to getting the sixers back to the finals again?

So it's Dikembe's 11ppg that took them to the finals? That's laughable.

The reason they couldn't make it back is the team got old, broken, and dismantled immediatly after that run. In fact, McKie and Snow were already pretty severely injured that playoff run.

The team was built on Defense and Iverson.

The next season Iverson & Snow both missed over 20 games, McKie almost 40, Geiger the whole season, Lynch and Hill were gone, and Derick Coleman was on the team.

iverson is the only reason the 76ers win any games. he can do whatever the fark he wants

I wonder if Shav was one-legging it. Duke sucks.

If I was Iverson, and I had to either get fined or bowl with a buncha schmuck corporate sponsors...

yeah, I'd take the fine. I really don't think he's hurting his team here.
