The Bratz look like Barbie's younger, sluttier sisters.

2006-11-22 01:28:29 AM
That link isn't directed to the article.

And Bratz or My Scene Barbie are just wrong. I don't know who thought it was a good idea to market skanks to pre-pubescent girls, but they probably got a promotion out of it seeing as how those dolls are so popular.

skanky chicks are cool, wtf are you guys whining about?

2006-11-22 01:50:05 AM
Yeah, Bratz are a good model for young girls *DOUBLE TRIPLE SARCASM*.

There's a time and place for everything, and it's called college.

2006-11-22 01:50:38 AM
The libertarian in me says people should buy whatever the hell they want and we have no right to biatch about something like this and parents should be responsible enough to raise their daughters well...

But damn, thos Bratz dolls are so wrong... so very very wrong.

2006-11-22 01:51:05 AM
good ole flopp we are whining because skanky twelve year olds dressed as teens aren't cool.

/they're entrapment

swahnhennessy: I don't know who thought it was a good idea to market skanks to pre-pubescent girls

Who ever it was, they are a marketing genius. They found an opening and ran through it. Too bad parents don't give a shiat enough to care that the Bratz/MyScene dolls are terrible models for their daughters to model after.

Sigh, guess that means more slutty girls at the bars. Darn.

MGA fought back with a biatchy statement, accusing Mattel of seeking...

Did the author go to the Mad Libs School of Journalism?

If these Bratz dolls can be sold to little girls, I think these need to be sold to little boys.

/would totally buy one

because twelve is so far from thirteen..

Bratz are obnoxious skankmonsters that look like they've collectively lost a fight with RAVE. Enough of them, kthx.

TFA:

Bratz took "girl power" to the doll market and have confirmed MGA as a significant force in the toy industry.

This is a funny yet sad statement on the attitudes of most young women.

linky no worky
/Bratz are so so wrong.
//Anyone remember the street corner Bratz set? 3 girl dolls and one boy doll dressed as, well, a pimp, fedora and all, with a cardboard fold out street corner scene? I saw that in Wallmart a couple of Christmases ago and wanted to pitch a fit.

Who cares about Bratz dolls? It's the BABY Bratz! You have to worry about.

My bad. It was Mattel Flava dolls with the street corner and the hey hey.

I have a 12-year old sister who loves these things. Guess what? She doesn't model herself after them. Guess what else? She plays with them, much like I used to play with my Barbies.

/until I realized how much cooler it was to change their hair colors
//and decapitation was awesome

Kids can sometimes just be kids. Not everything has to be sexual, and, in this case, skanky.

Part of me wants to say this is a dirty trick on Mattel's part (unless the claims are true and MGA is legally liable).

Most of me is cheering because those dolls are awful. Not that Barbie's a saint - but Bratz dolls sure make her look like one.

My soon-to-be-born daughter is never, ever getting a Bratz doll.

2006-11-22 02:34:04 AM
So little girls didn't really want dolls with abnormally large eyes and lips, but no nose?
I guess the Michael Jackson Bratz doll is cancelled then.

Bratz: Barbies for *insert racial slur*

2006-11-22 09:12:11 AM
Ahhh Bratz.

Where else are we going to get our fresh supply of young nubile women for porn stars and strippers.

2006-11-22 09:16:38 AM
There's a "Bratz Middle School Oral Secks Party" playset coming out. That's pretty much what they're training Teh Little Childrenz for anyway.

/Bratz Babies are the most disturbing dolls in the universe.
//Barbie = Lesser of two evils...scary, eh?

2006-11-22 09:17:24 AM
Not that I think Barbie is perfect, but my 3 year old daughter will never (*NEVER*) have a Bratz doll. No skank-in-training toys at my house.

birdistasty: Kids can sometimes just be kids. Not everything has to be sexual, and, in this case, skanky.

Yes, that is true, but in this case, these toys are skanky. If you want to let your daughter play with skank dolls, that's fine, I guess. Like someone above said, the bars of the future still need to be stocked with "loose women."

As Dave Chapelle said, you may not be a whore, but you are wearing the uniform.

2006-11-22 09:29:51 AM
And, as others have said, the Baby Bratz dolls are very disturbing.

2006-11-22 09:37:29 AM
Barbie of course, was based on Lilli, an "adult" cartoon in Germany.

Regardless, Bratz are little whores and my kids don't get Bratz.

InfernalCatfish

And, as others have said, the Baby Bratz dolls are very disturbing.

Yarr. Although it's strange that Bratz dolls spawned Babies after just 4 years (around 8 years earlier than the sort of person on which the dolls are modelled).

/Eagerly awaiting the UK-marketed Bratz 'Outside Lidl supermarket' playset, complete with 3 dolls, 3 buggies, 6 babies and realistic smoking Mayfair cigarettes - Push the button to hear one of 5 foul-mouthed phrases

All I want to know is why those stupid Bratz don't appear to have noses...

I would say the world has enough underage skanks already, but can you really have too many? Where else will we get tomorrow's popstars?

2006-11-22 09:56:54 AM
Damn...I need to read these comments a little closer next time. I'm not a biter, I swear!

2006-11-22 10:06:12 AM
My daughter received two bratz dolls last year for Christmas, and I threw them away without ever getting them out of the package.

She didn't seem to notice.

2006-11-22 10:07:37 AM
Yeah, I never thought of that. Thanks to these Bratz dolls, we should have a bumper crop of sluts in about 10 years.

Awesome!

Would I get sued if I started my own line of "Whorz" dolls?

Whorz?
Horz?
Slutz?
Skankz?

Hmm.

translation- we came up with the idea of marketing whore dolls to little girls.

2006-11-22 11:18:53 AM
Last night I saw a toy tattoo gun advertised on television. Now children can prepare in advance for the most significant thing they'll ever do in their pathetic little lives.

What ever happened to class?

2006-11-22 11:21:14 AM
I actually was talking about the "Bratz" thing with my girlfriend. It combines the baby-like facial features of big eyes, round head and small nose/mouth with the grown up features of a fashion doll. It was a great marketing idea... ever wonder why women like cats so much, its 'cause the facial features resemble babies... there have been studies that i am far too lazy to link to.

Oh and barbie had the whore market cornered decades ago.

Burnman: Oh and barbie had the whore market cornered decades ago.

Yes, but the "toddler whore" market has only recently been tapped.

2006-11-22 11:44:13 AM
Someone needs to market "Rapist Randy" for boys. They need someone to look up to as well!

2006-11-22 11:47:23 AM
Not everything has to be sexual, and, in this case, skanky.

But it can be sometimes, right? Please?

/hate bratz
//the tv show is actually kinda cute
///doesn't make me like the skank-dolls

Man, I put the over/under for a Smithers reference at 10 posts. quarterly finally comes through near the bottom of the page. What gives, people?

2006-11-22 11:58:01 AM
These aren't nearly as bad a as certain childrens clothing store actually marketing Ho clothes to pre-teens on major prime time TV.
I swear I am not making this up, there was a MAJOR retailer last year marketing an outfit on TV that included hot pants and thigh-high nylons. The model was far too young to dress that way, if she was my child I'd have a lawyer going for gold -right now-!

2006-11-22 12:04:13 PM
At least Barbie has a set of life expectations for any girl to emulate. Astronaut Barbie stands proudly on the shelf next to Hot-dog-cart owner Barbie. Those Bratz dolls only offer the aspiration to get in one's shizzle and whatnot.

/keep trying to scale the shape of a Bratz doll up to actual human size. *shudder*
