Cops should have to wear cameras whenever they are on duty. If anything happens it will be on tape. If the video "disappears" then person gets off. It's either that or read this piece of paper called the constitution.

I think the people reacting against this don't really know most cops. Most cops don't waste time stopping someone tossing litter. In fact, I'm sure most people can relate a time when a patrol car was close by, and you ran a red or missed a stop sign, and the cops let it go. Sure, there are always asshole cops, but I really doubt most want to fill out paperwork for tossed cigs. And I don't blame the cops for filling quotas, it's the upper brass/city gov't that makes quotas mandatory. Even so, I REALLY doubt a cop will stop innocent people for littering. It happens often enough that stopping innocent motorists isn't necessary.

Although I do think the anti-litter laws are good, there is so much trash on the side of roads. The worst are those scumbags that open a door to drop bottles onto the street. farking trash.

I'm going to take up smoking just so I can begin littering the butts to feed nicotine crazed turtles. They will become mutants. They will eventually move under-ground to the sewer and by the time they are teens, they will learn the ways of the ninja from a rat sensei.

I say, good. A few years ago I worked on the Washington Ecology Youth Corps program for a summer job. Effin pain, we picked up miles, miles, and miles of styrofoam, paper waste, empty containers, fast food cups, pop cans, you name it. Basically the most boring and annoying crap possible.

Not to mention some of the worst stuff. "Trucker bombs" (pee bottles), used condoms, adult DVDs, a plastic bag of crack powder, and even a loaded handgun. Ugh.

Wow, I'd love to live where you do. The cops around here pull you over for no reason whatsoever. They make one up when they have you stopped. If you were to give these asshats an actual REASON to harass you, they'd cream their jeans in joy.

I think Canada pays people to clean up our highways. They are always tidy and clean. I drove 10 minutes into the states, the highways were covered in litter. In fact, I always thought those mattresses on the side of the road were just myths, boy was I wrong!

My understanding is that it depends on the state, and the level of taxation. I found a BIG difference going through Pennsylvania and into New Jersey. Jersey's roads were spotless, and my understanding was the taxes were much higher there. I only saw the northeast corner of PA, so I can't say for sure...
