I was skeptical at first, but the headline seems to be actually true.
2006-11-17 11:04:39 PM
What a sausagefest.
2006-11-17 11:26:26 PM
"A SPICY sausage known as the Welsh Dragon will have to be renamed after 'trading standards' officers warned the manufacturers that they could face prosecution because it does not contain dragon.

/So, who is non-complient, (in someone's pocket)?
//I look forward to sausages on free Sunday mornings. Have slayed my share of dragons, and tollerate those I have to accept.
2006-11-18 12:15:46 AM
Just lop off the "on" on the end of that name, and tell Billy to take one for the team.
2006-11-18 12:25:07 AM
The sausages will now have to be labelled Welsh Dragon Pork Sausages to avoid any confusion among customers.

So they're actually made of dragon pork, right? Man, I'm going to have to go well out of my way to procure such a delicacy. I'll be quite cross and likely pursue legal recourse if there is no true dragon pork involved.

Just dripping with melted cheese, mmmmmm mmm.

2006-11-18 12:28:21 AM
That's mild weaksauce.
2006-11-18 12:28:52 AM
That would explain why my magic potions are not working!
2006-11-18 12:30:27 AM
My guess would be the real problem was that it didn't label them as pork sausages, not that there's no dragon meat in them.

Isn't the Times the more right-wing of the London newspapers? This sounds so much like one of those "bureaucracy run amuk!" stories right-wingers love to tout to try to dismantle good and necessary consumer protection.
2006-11-18 12:31:10 AM
Waiter, there's a leak in my sausage!

...the Welsh Dragon, which is made with chili, leak and pork.

In other news, Sausages affected by Draconian trade laws is easily my favorite (real) headline of the day.

/well done Times, I see what you did there.
2006-11-18 12:33:49 AM
But there is still seaman in ships, right?

/Product labels are such a biatch.
//Still meat in my hotdogs?
2006-11-18 12:35:50 AM
I don't think any of our customers believe that we use dragon meat in our sausages.

well, I'm glad to know that it's just not in the U.S. where the stupid are put in charge of laws.
2006-11-18 12:37:32 AM
C'mon now... next thing you're going to try and tell me is my Girl Guide Cookies don't contain any Girl Guides? What'd be the point then... ??
2006-11-18 12:38:49 AM
But Welsh rabbit will be fine.

/No, it is not rarebit.
2006-11-18 12:41:31 AM

What's the pork to satan ratio in my deviled ham?

I'm thinking I may have a law suit on my hands. I expect a certain amount of pure evil in my lunch spread.
2006-11-18 12:58:22 AM
Great Janitor: I'm thinking I may have a law suit on my hands. I expect a certain amount of pure evil in my lunch spread.

Then I suggest potted meat. That shiat is pure, unadulterated evil. Unlike Vienna sausages, where it's formed into whimsical, sausage like shapes.

I got your dragon sausage right here, pally.
2006-11-18 01:45:55 AM
Your dog wants sausage.
2006-11-18 01:51:17 AM
Sorry, but I'm man enough to eat a sausage without caring what's inside it.
2006-11-18 02:02:35 AM
Welsh Dragon is people!
2006-11-18 02:26:56 AM
I misread that headline and then wondered if "I'd like to show you My Spicy Flesh Dragon" would be a good pickup line.

/somthing wrong with me.
2006-11-18 02:51:43 AM
Spicy Welsh Dragon Sausage... sounds like a trademark pet name for the tool wielded by a porn star named "Llewellyn Evans" or something.

Well, it would make for some good funny dialogue. Until the actors actually started talking in Welsh and covering each other in spit.
2006-11-18 02:53:11 AM
"emulsified high fat offal tube" = "Sausage Anglais"... too obscure?

I just lived in Cali for two years. Ran away ASAP. They could possible jail you for that radical thought!

God forbid they ever find out about Italian sausage and Cajun sausage...

Boo! I came in here on the look out for angry dragons.
2006-11-18 03:26:13 AM
His lawyer needs a better angle. He could use actual lizard blood and get off on a technicality. Or go so far as to say that the-now-dead animal MAY have at some point chomped and accidentally injested lizard blood.

Works in the US, why not there?

/mmmmm. lizard. Best served with picante.
2006-11-18 03:28:37 AM
Wait. That wasn't dragon?

2006-11-18 03:29:59 AM
That seals it. Not drinking anymore Old Git!
2006-11-18 03:49:55 AM
It's not dragon meat, it's just marinated in dragon urine.
2006-11-18 04:58:51 AM
I hope they go after those Pepperidge Farms bastards and their so-called "Goldfish" crackers next. My cat and I agree they taste nothing like goldfish.

(oh, and don't forget there's for more wacky stuff like this)

Is there ham or even meat for that matter in a big mac hamburger?
