How's that working out for you?

2006-11-14 07:36:21 AM
Was it an important act of political protest, or the tragic end of a mentally ill person?

The answer is "B".

2006-11-14 07:36:23 AM
meh

If only he'd waited until Election Day. O the humanity! O the irony! O...whatever.

/Thall shalt not kill thyself either, dipstick.

Wow, how many times have I seen Farkers say "If people dislike the war so much, how come nobody has set themselves on fire to protest it like that monk did?". I am not happy to see that it has finally happened.

2006-11-14 07:37:57 AM
Wow. If he would of just waited until after the election, he would know that the Dems are going to make it all better.

/I keed...
//I'll go with answer B as well

Now if only Freepers were this passionate about their stance on the war.

He already reproduced.

He should have handed marshmallows to the nearby homeless first. That would have made an awsome video.

maybe he killed himself because jazz sucks?

"Sad"?

I think the "Dumbass" tag would have been more appropriate.

Not unexpectedly, the first few posts here on Fark in response to this article show the a total lack of compassion or empathy - a basic sign of humanity, which farkers, and the US in general it seems, seem to lack. You can draw your own conclusions as to why...

It's this same lack of compassion and basic humanity that allows hundreds of thousands to die in Iraq, and around the world, as a result of US terror.

What a sad country. What a sad people.

2006-11-14 07:42:01 AM
I'm sure there's going to be a lot of sympathy for him here...

2006-11-14 07:42:11 AM
I've been kinda half wondering if someone would do this. It happened in the leadup to Gulf War I as well.

It's a one trick pony. So, now what are you going to do 'Crispy'?

/damn shame

It's much less a lack of compassion for a public act, and more of making fun of a dumbass who killed himself.

Strong words. Perhaps you should make some kind of dramatic public statement to reinforce your point of view.

I find it amusing that all these posters, who no doubt originally cheered the invasion of iraq and will have professed their deep deep concern for Iraqis and the people of the middle east , show their true colours here.

You don't care about other people at all, do you fellow farkers. It's hugely revealing. I feel really sorry for you all.

I wonder what his Fark name was...

golo606 -

I don't feel bad for this guy. He's dead. I feel for his family, but for him, meh. He's not here anymore. He doesn't need our sympathy.

/USA!USA!USA!

2006-11-14 07:48:06 AM
yeah...keep going everyone.....

you're just making my point for me.

2006-11-14 07:50:04 AM
Overfiend: I don't feel bad for this guy. He's dead. I feel for his family,

Agreed. He made the choice to set himself on fire. Anyone who thinks that's a reasonable solution to a problem has many more issues than the one they use to justify their action.

2006-11-14 07:50:38 AM
I feel much worse for all of the innocent civilians who die in Iraq every day. They have no choice. This guy picked the time and way of his death.

2006-11-14 07:50:46 AM
Damn, seems like fark woke up on the cold side of the bed and stepped on a callous tipped tack on the way to the pisser.

Nope, not when it's someone so super-smart his plan of action to help change the world for the better is setting himself on fire.

I'm sorry that this guy was such a avante garde asshat libtard. Does that make you feel better?

2006-11-14 07:54:21 AM
It is not funny when people kill themselves. No matter what you say, it will not be funny. Depression is not something to be detested. Anyone who says differently is an absolute prick.

8charlie: I like Fark. It's my barometer of US general opinion. Sometimes I'm cheered, often I'm saddened. It's the level of hate and fear that you see here that makes it so uniquely American.

2006-11-14 07:56:29 AM
Weird that I didn't know:

A) There's some thing that looks like a flame just west of the loop off the Kennedy.
B) Some dude set himself on fire on purpose on the thing.

Maybe I should stop Farking and start watching the local news.

I have deep deep concern for the 3000 innocent dead who did little more than show up for work. I have very little concern for a culture that preaches hatred and komikaze tactics to further a belief based upon a winged horse.
Suck it crybaby.

2006-11-14 07:57:41 AM
That really makes ya think.... about how crazy he was.

2006-11-14 07:57:45 AM
I stand with golo606 on this one.
Perhaps I was wrong when I thought farkers to be intelligent and decent human beings. A man has just sacrificed his life for what he believes, and you laugh as if it's a joke.
If this is a true representation of the mentality of this country, then I am sad to call myself an american.

2006-11-14 07:57:49 AM
Yes golo606, we all know Germans are known for their compassion and empathy.

zachwampler:
It is not funny when people kill themselves.

It is if their method of death is autoerotic asphyxiation, and the open magazine they were obviously using as a "visual aid" is full of midget pr0n.

That would be hilarious.

2006-11-14 07:58:42 AM
I'm with you zachwampler. These idiots know not what they say. They can only pray that if their lives ever become difficult in a manner that's out of their hands, that they'll be shown a little more understanding and compassion than the farkers can muster here. I can't help but picture a bunch of 14 year olds at their keyboards when i read these posts, so maybe I shouldn't get so wound up.

Can't it be both?

So if a guy sacrifices himself for his beliefs that makes it good? The guy was a moron who burned himself knowing ful l well that it would not change anything.

2006-11-14 08:01:01 AM
yes!!! I knew it was only a matter of time before someone brought up the fact that I live in Germany (although I'm not German). A deeply intelligent and relevant comment there, Skeezmo.

remember - the Germans were right ALL ALONG about the war.

It's the US committing the atrocities and genocide now.

Farking my Brains Out:I have deep deep concern for the 3000 innocent dead who did little more than show up for work.

What does that have to do with Iraq?
