Some folk'll never lose a toe,

Like Cletus, The slack-jawed yokel.

Hey, I can see my house from here!

Chewing on sugar coated hypodermic needles, my favorite snack as a kid...

2006-11-12 11:35:52 AM
And sadly, Sandy Springs is one of the better areas of greater Atlanta
2006-11-12 11:39:42 AM
Good grief, WTF is up with Sandy Springs these days? My grandparents used to live there - it used to just be a quiet little suburb with nearly nothing going on - frankly, it was one of the only redeeming areas in Atlanta in my eyes.

DomRoark - with you on the DIAF sentiment.
2006-11-12 11:39:54 AM
And sadly, Sandy Springs is one of the better areas of greater Atlanta

Roswell Rd. is not one of the better areas of Sandy Springs.
2006-11-12 11:41:00 AM
Assfarkers should be brought out back and executed. Who treats kids like that??
2006-11-12 11:41:25 AM
20-30 years ago, Sandy Springs was called "The Golden Ghetto".

Now it's mostly a ghetto.
2006-11-12 11:42:55 AM

Someone please make these farking smileys shut the fark up.

Oh my God! No way!
2006-11-12 11:43:55 AM
Depends on what part of Sandy Springs, really

Directly off of Roswell Rd, yeah it is pretty nasty. I cannot remember the exit past Roaswell rd, but it is still Sandy Springs and very nice. At least it was when I lived in Atlanta.
2006-11-12 11:46:53 AM
My son is five months old. I won't leave ANYTHING on the floor, not even a bottle cap. Hypodermic needles on the floor of an apartment with a seven month old, not to mention a LOADED GUN?? I can't eat cereal without my son getting his fingers in it, and he can manipulate object extremely well. If he had a loaded gun in his hands, he could certainly pull the trigger unknowingly.

Should be tied to an anchor.
2006-11-12 11:47:29 AM
I know this is off topic but....anyone who submits a headline that is pre-written like this should be banned.
2006-11-12 11:47:47 AM
And I was going to let them babysit for me this weekend. Well Now Fark..I guess I'll just have to get a pregnant inner city 12 year old to do it. Who's "Sugar Daddy" will just be asking for more money for "Dat Ass".
2006-11-12 11:48:30 AM
They should both have their reproductive equipment removed -- with no anasthesia -- and he should have all his teeth broken to prepare him for all the BJs he'll be giving in prison. Break her teeth and stick her in the men's prison, too.
2006-11-12 11:51:16 AM
I have more dangerous stuff in my apartment than that: draino, household cleaners and a loaded shotgun.
2006-11-12 11:54:10 AM

Wait a minute, in the video he says it would be "virtually impossible for a child not to come into contact with a 'used meth needle'".

2006-11-12 11:54:19 AM
Good case for manditory sterilization.
How much you want to bet the parents have more then 19 alleles in common? The inbreeding coefficient, is one minus the observed frequency of heterozygotes over that expected from Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. In any event they created a hazardous material zone like a scaled down nuke zone. There goes the neighborhood. You got your ground water contamination, your brown/grey soil, you got your solid waste tank to empty and dispose of properly, unless it went into the common drinking waste water cycle, plus, you got your bio-haz-mat kids left behind.
Lovely. And for the defenders of these criminals in your law offices, y'all jist keep mashing down on them there buttons on your cornpewters, and git fixin' ta deefend them there rascals. I knows ya kin dew it. I sone seen Judge Priest, so I knows slick talking jewboy lawyers ain't gonna tear them sweet li'l chilluns from the teat of their sweet sainted mommy.
2006-11-12 11:56:11 AM
Wow, I live in Sandy Springs. Maybe I oughta go give 'em what for.
2006-11-12 11:57:09 AM
One word, Smurfark,
2006-11-12 11:57:41 AM
pisceandreamer: Good grief, WTF is up with Sandy Springs these days?

A: Gentrification in the City of Atlanta.

The low income folks who had been living in the city are being priced out by yuppies and retirees buying up intown homes, fixing them up, and causing rent and property values (and thus, property taxes) to increase. So they move into whatever low cost housing they can find, which more and more is older apartments and rental houses in the suburbs. This is just the tip of the iceberg. The one good thing for Sandy Springs is that it is in close enough that the gentrification forces will spill over into at least the southern parts of the city.
2006-11-12 11:58:55 AM
Was Ted Haggard there?
2006-11-12 12:06:40 PM
A roughly similar thing happened up here a few years ago. A young lady was heavy into meth and had paranoid delusions. In January, she broke the windows in her apartment. She couldn't afford to pay the heating bills and even though the utilty companies continue to supply service until spring (by law), she turned the heat way down.

She was busted for shoplifting and spent the day in jail. At the jail, she didn't once mention she had left an infant alone in her apartment. In the meantime, a representative from the utility company came and knocked on her apartment door to discuss payments. He heard a baby crying and the door felt cold. He got the manager to open the door and they found this lady's infant girl laying on the floor with her tears frozen to her face. She was alive and was rushed to the local hospital and treated for hypothermia. The doctors estimated the little girl was about 20 minutes from dying.

The lady signed papers to waive parental rights and the little girl was adopted. A better ending than a lot of kids in this type of situation.
2006-11-12 12:08:16 PM
See, this is why cocaine and meth are illegal!

/ Sick of the superlibertarians saying we should legalize all drugs.
2006-11-12 12:09:32 PM
Looks like whatever Florida's got is contagious. Creation of a Georgia tag is long overdue, IMO...
2006-11-12 12:13:27 PM
This is Sandy Springs' punishment for remaining unincorporated all those years. LOL! Seriously though...the part around Chastain Park is deluxe...Roswell Rd. has just become far too commercialized and overdeveloped. The concept of a "greenbelt law" is foreign to Georgia politicians apparently. One more reason I remain delightedly here in Vermont.
2006-11-12 12:15:47 PM
utter_bastard: the exit past Roaswell rd
Glenridge. Then you're getting into Dunwoody where there's more money.

EngineerAU: which more and more is older apartments and rental houses in the suburbs.
You're exactly correct.
2006-11-12 12:18:35 PM
At least they had the decency to leave the kids some pot.
2006-11-12 12:20:24 PM
Glenridge? I thought it was riversomething.
2006-11-12 12:23:48 PM
If you're going west, it's Riverside Dr. If you're going East, it's Glenridge.
2006-11-12 12:31:00 PM
Yeah Riverside, Heards Ferry, those are some nice houses. Their housecleaners come from Roswell Rd.
2006-11-12 12:32:21 PM
Man, I live in Sandy Springs and this is just freaking wrong. But, happens everywhere.

And I agree with EngineerAU, In-town yuppies are pushing low-income folks out of the perimeter. It seems that, mostly, they bypassed areas of Sandy Springs/Dunwoody for a while and moved directly to Roswell, but it looks like they are starting to fill in the gaps along the way.

I really don't want to have to move to Alpharetta. That place is a suburbanite hellhole (my brother would know, SUCKER!)
2006-11-12 12:39:14 PM
Fella could have a pretty good weekend in Vegas with all that.
2006-11-12 12:46:52 PM
Sim Tree

Ya because it's much better to have a black market worth billions, having more people in prison for one crime than any country in human history, and wasting billions of taxpayers money just to keep the stuff illegal when this crap happens anyway.

/Sick of the superconservatives and their drug war
2006-11-12 12:47:10 PM
the other stuff's bad, the gun's okay!

Heyyyyyyyy, it's not that bad. Yeesh.
2006-11-12 12:53:34 PM
From TFA:

The smell inside the Roswell Road apartment - according to two maintenance men who were there to check out the damage - was terrible.

Wow...maintenance men doing their jorb. Who'da thunk?
2006-11-12 12:56:24 PM
Alpharetta kicks ass - you slackers south of here are just jealous.

/does not have to drive GA 400 to get to work
2006-11-12 12:58:12 PM
Well, at least there wasn't like 200 cats. Trying to find a silver lining...
2006-11-12 01:09:14 PM
Well, what can you say? They've lived almost 400 years in this country, had all of the freedoms, all of the advantages, but they just can't seem to get it together.

Must be tough being born with white skin.
2006-11-12 01:13:51 PM
200 Meth Cats
good name for a band.
2006-11-12 01:16:35 PM

They should play some kind of odd music, like on propane tanks and ammonia jugs, and pipes.

2006-11-12 01:26:35 PM
