WTF?!? Bond does not drive a POS Ford, but an Aston Martin.

Meh. All plastic and fiberglass. Back in the day my gas-guzzing, smoke belching Chevy Chevelle would have ripped the doors right off that pretty little car and shoved them where the EPA would have not approved.

Yeah, but could your car get you laid AND go underwater? NO, all your car could do well was rust. ;)

ASTON MARTIN DB5, hands down.

what a waste of clicks

2006-11-11 07:10:27 PM
That was stupid, there was only one official Bond car there :(

2006-11-11 07:11:33 PM
My favorite was the BMW 750 from The World Is Not Enough. I've always liked bigger cars and that one was super slick.

I also liked the Aston Martin that kind of looked like a Mustang from The Living Daylights. Or what that a Lotus?

2006-11-11 07:20:50 PM
It was an Aston Martin Volante.

BXRWXR thats my favorite as well, i have an AutoArt diecast of this car. its my favorite die cast i have.

I read that as "Sideshow of James Bond's best spy cars", which would have been very entertaining.

/tell me when to go

2006-11-11 07:41:20 PM
A Mondeo?? Hah!

Though the Jag X-Type was a shared platform with the newer Mondeo... And I liked my X-Type a lot. The local dealership sucked, though. :P

The Contour was from the original Mondeo. I had one of those too; loaded up with the SE sport package, it was decent enough.

3 guesses as to who owns Aston Martin... ;)

Any one except the one with the cloaking device in the last film. POS.

======================

Well, it DID go underwater. Once. The poor beast was never quite the same after that.

As for getting me laid

Well, errr...Ummm...

But...But...But...Clinton!

I still remember what I thought was a really funny comment in Mad Magazine when they were spoofing 'Moonraker'. The higher-ups MI6 were saying that they give Bond all these cool (and expensive) gadgets and he loses them all, yet Jaws goes out there with next to nothing yet never dies, so why don't they hire Jaws to get the job done, as it'd be a hell of a lot cheaper.

2006-11-11 08:41:19 PM
I want my clicks back. Aston of any era. The BMW era was an abomination as the Germans were the first of Bonds many enemies. Kinda partial to the Vanquish though, just for the name. I thought they handled it very well when Brosnan pulled up to the Casino in Monte Carlo and asked the attendant to take very good care of the DB 5. Camera lingered just long enough to make the point.

2006-11-11 08:41:43 PM
gotta go with the astons
//bmws were cool
////lotus is only a 4 cylinder though a smokin 4 cyl-really cheap to buy and horrendously expensive to own
//would prefer to do jinx on the hood of her ford

2006-11-11 08:50:17 PM
Not a single version of the Lotus Esprit anywhere? Bah. Give me V8 Volantes and the Lotuses anyday..

2006-11-11 09:07:37 PM
BXRWXR: I was always partial to this one:

I was just coming here to point out there was no Lotus shown. Plus that one was a sub too!

Good show BXRWXR

That was an Aston Martin V8 Vantage.

Wow, Honor Blackman looks great for her age! Good for her!

/Aston Martin DB5 still the best

2006-11-11 09:29:21 PM
Hug-a-Beans beat me to it. Yeah, Ms. Blackman.

The Aston Martin in the books was a DB3, if I recall. I liked it a bit better than the DB5 used in the film.

Never drove either but I'm told by those who have that they both drive like trucks.

Bond driving a Ford? WTF? Maybe if its a bond girl's car. Another poorly done product placement? Maybe they should ask BMW how well that went last time they did it seeing that it hurt sales in a prime demongraphic with people who were sick of product placements in movies. I was so sick of that crap that BMW lost a sale to me because of it. Here is a list of stuff I won't be buying because of product placement. I'll even start before the movie is finished.

2006-11-11 10:13:48 PM
What about the Dodge Dart? Oh and the article was lame, only one picture of a car actually used by Bond, the rest were recent models. Anyone else read the books written after Ian Fleming died where Bond drove a Saab 900?

2006-11-11 10:30:21 PM
There's a scene in the trailer where his car gets totaled. I was wondering what he would drive after that.

Thanks, that was a pretty cool one. I also made an error, the BMW 750 was in Tommorow Never Dies, not The World Is Not Enough.

The Bond cars probably went off the tracks though, when the last movie has an invisible one. And the horrid Madonna song. But the invisible car was cheesy, too.

Subby is a farking liar, ban him. Try "One James Bond car and a bunch of crap."

The coolest one was the submarine lotus in Spy Who Loved Me. I also liked the one (also a lotus I believe) with the blow the fark up and kill you theft dterrent system.

Didn't Bond drive a Mustang fastback in "Diamonds are Forever"?

Yep. A red 1971 Mustang Mach 1 fastback.

Worse was the Ford LTD sedan he drove around San Fransisco in A View To A Kill. And it was beige. And Roger Moore looked about 175 years old.

2006-11-12 11:09:01 AM
The whole point is that it's Bond. It's fantasy. He's the coolest farker on the planet. So he needs a cool car. And he's British.

Jaguars are not cool. They're built on a Mondeo chassis. Bond should have an Aston, or maybe a Lotus. And fark the product placement fees. I'd rather chip in a quid towards production to keep that shiat out.

2006-11-12 12:22:14 PM
Aston Martin all the way. But, the new Lotus Esprit will be out next year:

img293.imageshack.us

Would be nice for the next movie to include it.

Yup and it had the uncanny ability that while riding on two wheels in a narrow alley to emerge on the opposite two wheels when exiting the ally.

No Z3? Seriously?

What the fark man, the BMWs were among the best Bond cars.

I still liked that little tiny jet plane the best of all the Bond vehicles. It was real and was the world's smallest jet for a long time. The owner would fly it at air shows with the sponsors, a beer company if memory serves, ads as decals.
I don't know why it won't let me link.
