Jack Palance didn't die, he just got bored and left to go kick ass somewhere else.

/RIP BIG GUY

2006-11-10 05:46:18 PM
But his brother is still ok, right?

2006-11-10 05:46:53 PM
I thought he died years ago.

2006-11-10 05:46:55 PM
I once punched a guy out for saying that "Hawk the Slayer" was rubbish.

Good for you.

Yeah, thanks. But that's not the point, Tim. The point is I was defending the fantasy genre with terminal intensity, when what I should have said was "Dad, you're right, but let's give Krull a try and we'll discuss it later."

Remember his washed up days?

Looking through IMDB, he was in "Gor" and "Outlaw of Gor," and the latter made it to MST3k.

I never had heard of him until Ripley's... and he got that because he was washed up...

Jack Palance was cool - in a (Palance voice) weird kinda way.

R.I.P. Curly

First it was the GOP. Next, Bradley. Now this.

You make a good point. That could be the complete trifecta.
Though the first one's not really dead yet, only badly wounded. I'll miss the second two, though.

2006-11-10 05:47:28 PM
fark NO!

/mourning this in advance since 97'

2006-11-10 05:48:00 PM
So, who's gonna be the third? Bets?

2006-11-10 05:48:04 PM
Taking bets on who's gonna complete the trifecta.

1. Ed Bradley, journalist

2. Jack Palace, actor

3. ... politician?

One can only hope.

My $$ says....

Hmmm....

I'm gonna go with R&B star Gerald Levert.

2006-11-10 05:48:25 PM
Aw, I liked him.

"Most of the stuff I do is garbage," he once told a reporter, adding that most of the directors he worked with were incompetent, too.

"Most of them shouldn't even be directing traffic," he said.

He is teh awesome.

You're crowdin' my turf, schpedoinkel. Back off or I'll summon Jack back to break your knees. I got here first, and Jack would respect that.

2006-11-10 05:50:45 PM
Damn, a death trifecta, the bet is on for the 3rd.

/Didn't see a mention so I thought I'd do it.

2006-11-10 05:51:13 PM
Count me in with those who thought he shuffled off his mortal coils ten years ago.

Glad he had a long life, and lived it well.

RIP, JP.

Bruce Vilanch,
Paris France,
god we'll miss ole Jack Palance.

2006-11-10 05:52:02 PM
Two things I remember about Jack Palance:

1) As the porno producer in David Lynch's Lost Highway. Great actor + great director = totally believable creepy villian.

2) Palance on the Dave Letterman show, while Dave plays Jack's country album version of "The Green Green Grass of Home". IMO that's the ultimate version of that song. "it's good (breath) to touch (breath) the green green grass (breath) of home." Awesome.

3.Stephen Hawking

Dude, that possibility truly saddens me.

"Few people know that veteran movie actor Jack Palance was a professional heavyweight boxer in the early 1940s. Fighting under the name Jack Brazzo, Palance a product of Lattimer Mines, Pennsylvania, won his first 15 fights, 12 by knockout before losing a 4th round decision to future heavyweight contender Joe Baksi on Dec. 17, 1940. With the outbreak of World War II, Jack Palance's boxing career ended and his military career began. Wounded in combat, he received the purple heart, good conduct medal, and the World War II Victory Medal. After the war he began his long and famous motion picture career."

I just have to echo the sentiments of the "didn't he die years ago?" crowd.

Didn't he die years ago? And isn't there a name for the phenomena of thinking someone died years ago but they didn't really? Unless they did, really.

2006-11-10 05:53:55 PM
call me stupid but...

if he was 70 in 1992 when he did city slickers...

and now it's 2006, 14 years later... wouldn't that put him at 84/5 depending on his birthday?

2006-11-10 05:53:57 PM
Damn, solidshadow has some good taste...

2006-11-10 05:54:16 PM

Whoops, spoke to soon, it was.

Sorry, Dumb-Ass-Monkey, didn't mean to rain on your parade.

Let's see:

Shirley MacLaine is 72, maybe.

or

Gerald Ford is 93, even better.

I'll go with President Ford.

Break out your Official MST3K Jack Palance Impersonation Kit! Raise a glass to Jack's memory, and remember one of his best lines, "Day ain't over yet!"

/now I want a Texas Taco Sandwich.

2006-11-10 05:55:56 PM
His seed pod has finally opened.

"Day four...missed call."

"Excuse my while I go rip my agent a new one."

RIP.

2006-11-10 05:56:02 PM
I remember seeing him claim on Ripley's Believe It or Not that "Ring Around the Rosie" is about the Black Plague.

2006-11-10 05:56:12 PM
wait, DeForrest Kelly is still alive?

Did the great cosmic question of sandwich vs burrito send the whole world out of whack?
