2006-11-10 03:24:25 PM
I don't know about you, but if I was sitting in some guy's house, watching out for things that explode and people that shoot, and I had to do this almost every freaking day in and every freaking day out, I'd probably be a bit fuzzy on my Cabinet minister recall, too.

Lance Corporal James L. Davis Jr. was being "ironic".

Amusing little side anecdote.

I was with the 82d Airborne in the first Persian Gulf War. I was in the first 300 soldiers to deploy, on the sixth plane leaving Pope AFB. During my time there I pulled a lot of guard duty.

At one point, I'd been manning a guard tower in the northeast corner of our compound for a few hours, and got bored enough to start reading the graffiti that others had left behind. It was mostly the completely juvenile stuff you'd expect, but there was one that sticks with me to this day:

"Someday I'm gonna run the farking Army."
-PVT George Bush

/yes, I know Bush Sr was Air Force and an officer.
//it's still pretty damn funny.

The election is over. We can all stop pretending that's what Kerry said.

2006-11-10 03:40:26 PM
im glad the media understands morale is at least 20% of fighting a war...

togamoos: The election is over. We can all stop pretending that's what Kerry said.

Dude, they literally have nothing left. I say we let them pick over Kerry's bones all they want, it may even be better if it keeps them occupied so they can stop trying to hurt the country.

2006-11-10 03:40:35 PM
Wow, the Dems still can't get over it.

2006-11-10 03:40:36 PM
Non partisan comment: Maybe he was just trying to put Rumsfeld--or Kerry--down?

The irony is what Kerry accidentally said was true also: Lower class uneducated people, with few options...yes, will end up in the military, disproportionately.

Seems like common sense to me.

run on that in 2008. You'll do just fine.

And by the way, Germany proves a key point as to why we do not join the International Criminal Court. Unless, of course, you want to allow any old country to sue you at any time they choose, including those that would like wage war on us.

dont they usually take the size of the standing military into account when calculating unemployment numbers?

Yeah... I may be a different story, but I'm in the Air Force, have been for almost a decade. I spent 2 years on techschool alone (paid for by the military) receive free education and have a good paying job I love.
Me thinks you are over generalizing.
Love,

Haha... he didn't know who Rumsfeld was, bwahaha........ Who is Rumsfeld again?

Kerry was quite right, but he's still a dumbass for saying when he did.

Lance Cpl. James L. Davis Jr. looked up from his cigarette. "Who's Rumsfeld?" he asked.

Wow. This guy really isn't up on the news. Cigarettes are out too.

SEMPER FI!!

2006-11-10 03:47:13 PM
He was being philosophical. I mean, who is Rumsfeld anyway?

On a more serious note, I was expected to know the chain of command when I was in the military.

/Damn kids these days!

2006-11-10 03:47:39 PM
Suck it, libs.

2006-11-10 03:47:57 PM
Wouldn't about 75% of Americans get that same question wrong as well?

2006-11-10 03:49:01 PM

My USMC corespondents in Iraq assure me that Rumsfeld is well known, though mostly as a synonym for shiat, and specifically as the thick, difficult to pass shiat that comes 18-24 hours after meal rich in cheeses but lacking any fiber.

For example, "I gotta toss a Rumsfeld but the portajohns are coned out."

("Coned out" was another term new to me.)

spasepeepoles: Yeah... I may be a different story, but I'm in the Air Force, have been for almost a decade. I spent 2 years on techschool alone (paid for by the military) receive free education and have a good paying job I love.

Shh. Everyone knows the most intelligent folks in the military end up in the Air Force. Furthermore, everyone knows that the AF folks end up in the "safest" of places. Alot harder to replace someone who scored a 98 on the ASVAB than someone who made a 23. ;)

2006-11-10 03:49:18 PM
Look. It's just a simple fact. The military markets toward young people, not only because they're healthy, but because they are naive and vulnerable to propaganda.

I know. I'm a vet.

Wow, the Dems still can't get over it.

1. most of the bashers aren't even democrats, they've merely developed an intense hatred of the scumbags that damn near ruined our country (neocon republicans)

2. the republicans have been flaunting their "mandate" shamelessly for 6 years and 3 days into your "loss" you're already whining?

3. people who are hardcore bush administration supporters are either stupid or treasonous or both

2006-11-10 03:50:07 PM
NateGrey: Get over what? Do you mean beating Republicans silly?

No, no... they can't get over the John Kerry "botched joke" that went over so well. So they resort to transfering the blame to someone else (a.k.a. I blame Bush Co.).

2006-11-10 03:50:36 PM
Republicans are rooting for defeat in Iraq so they can blame it on the dems and take back Congress. They would happily sacrifice another 3k troops if it meant they could take the next election.

I have a 19 yo daughter who couldn't tell who Rumsfeld was if you gave her $100.

/Suck it subby
//Those guys have more pressing things on their minds.

I guess the Marines don't teach their troops the chain of command. The Army hammered it in to you. The nice thing way back then was the president, sec of defense, sec of the army and division commander didn't change that much. I did get gigged when I replied "The Honorable James Earl Carter" and it was right after January 21, 1981.

2006-11-10 03:51:51 PM
Nice one subby. Kudos.

2006-11-10 03:51:51 PM
i'm not gonna defend him. he's a lance corporal. lance corporals aren't paid to think.

i always tell my lance corporals that if i ever catch them saying it, though, i'll make them wish they hadn't
