Its my thought that in the far future, criminals of violent crimes will be hooked up to a device that forces them to relive the crime from the victims point of view in their head. It would be the ultimate deterrent. Though in saddam's case being killed thousands of times over and over would probably drive him insane....

2006-11-05 08:06:31 AM
Anyone have the YouTube link of the execution?

How much money does it take to have a former political leader sentenced to death by a phony court?

American Deaths Since war began (3/19/03): 2828
Total Americans Wounded: 21077
(http://www.antiwar.com/casualties/)

Iraqi civilian deaths since war began: 48000
(IraqBodyCount.net)

Saddam is sentenced to death for:

"The ordered executions of 148 males." (CNN.com)

Who is the real criminal here?

I'm sure that when it happens, someone will have it.

Me thinks the proverbial sh*t is going to hit the fan even more than it has been in Iraq.

Or turn him into the world's ultimate supervillain! Though, I suppose, after you've already killed thousands upon thousands of people, there's not a lot of upward mobility in the supervillain department...

That's moral relativist. If it's wrong, it's wrong. I think it's pretty well known Saddam wasn't exactly a nice guy. I think it's also pretty well known that 9-11 isn't a sufficient justification for creating The QuagRaq.

What's even more farked up is that, when he did this in 1982, the USA under Reagan was supporting him in his war against Iran. So we were for the dicatator before we were against the dicatator. Talk about a flip-flop.

Yes, because everything revolves solely around the United States and your pitiful political process.

2006-11-05 08:11:09 AM
And this has _nothing_ to do with the US elections in 2 days, no siree, nothing to see here, move on.

2006-11-05 08:11:17 AM
Ya know, we could use a guy like him!

At first I read it "Saddam Hussein sentenced to death" like some biatches were using grammar on his ass and took care of that fool last night.

2006-11-05 08:12:37 AM
I work for Saddam Hussein and... Wait. WHAT!!

2006-11-05 08:12:46 AM
I will bet anyone five bucks that he becomes a martyr.

2006-11-05 08:13:15 AM
Saddam sentenced to death by hanging

Ah, hang 'em high! Just as they used to do it in Texas. How appropriate... I suppose.

2006-11-05 08:13:42 AM
wow what a surprise....They had the verdict in for almost a month and for some reason (gasp) it came out right before the election.

Do you think that this US formed non UN sanctioned court would delay the release of this verdict to coincide with the election? Nahh.....

Yes, when it was politically expedient for us to do so. At the time, the Iranians were a bigger threat and we threw our support behind the guy who was in the best position to topple them. But, hey, situations change, and Saddam became the new threat, so we took him out too.

The enemy of our enemy is our friend, etc.

As with many of you, I was curious about the timing of the verdict (pre-US elections), but it sounded like whichever way it went there'll be disruption/outrage/rioting over there and we should expect some bloodshed.

/too currently drunk to really sort it out

2006-11-05 08:14:12 AM
Great. Now he gets to become a martyr because our government was stupid enough to not say "let's send him to The Hague".

And the same goes for Saddam.

2006-11-05 08:14:25 AM
The trial was a pointless waste of millions of dollars. Everyone in the world already knew Saddam slayed hundreds of thousands of his own citizens, locked up, tortured, and killed his political opponents, etc.

I'd be willing to make him a ham sandwich for his last meal.

2006-11-05 08:14:40 AM
They should airlift him to the Kurdish Autonomous Region and drop him off. Let the Kurds do whatever they want to Saddam. That, to me, would be true justice.

Still, we had no business being in Iraq in the first place, but since they have all that yummy oil...
