They left my name off the list.

Pity,

I was caught at a Skull and Crossbones meeting three times. They were always nice about it and escorted me out without too much fuss. Once they even gave me the job section out of the local rag and said "You are a farking smart guy, why not get a real job". They gave me a bottle of cheap champagne and asked me nicely not to come back. Much better than the other secret societies, I've had a total of five fingers and a collar bone smashed from the other farkers.

Pity, nice place, I took them for just over 200 grand - maybe that had something to do with it.

:)

Ok I'll put on the tinfoil hat...

Kerry did the whole "Insulting the troops" bit just at the right time to give reasonable doubt for when his fellow bonesman Bush and the republicans keep control by having the election fixed with the Diebold machines.

How's that? :P

2006-11-02 06:53:37 AM
Now if we can only get that list of 33rd degree Freemasons of the Supreme Council!!!!

Any secret organization that would allow George W to be a member doesn't scare me in the least.

I think a list of people who actually give a fark would be much shorter....

Not much of a "secret society" when everybody knows about it and a list of members get published.

Essentially, they are an over-glorified frat/greek society (complete with their own symbolism, initiation rites, hazing, standards, etc...)

S&B can suck it.

Pity,

I was caught by Berylman's parents letting him suck my cock three times. They were always nice about it and escorted me out without too much fuss. Once they even gave me the job section out of the local rag and said "You are a farking smart guy, why not get a real job". They gave me a bottle of cheap champagne and asked me nicely not to come back. Much better than the other parents of rent boys I've found on the Internet, I've had a total of five fingers and a collar bone smashed from the other farkers.

Pity, nice place, I took them for just over 200 grand - maybe that had something to do with it.

It would only be interesting if you filtered by people that are actually still alive and then categorized their occupations (i.e. politics, finance, luxury goods, etc.). Then, had summary of any connections with a clickable chart.

You literally would need tinfoil-hat-meeting-buddies to impress anyone with a text printout that took the time to only identify the people everyone could identifiy (i.e. presidents).

/sigh

The Evil Home Brewer: Any secret organization that would allow George W to be a member doesn't scare me in the least.

Also, how evil and secret is this thing if they have like five batrillion members? Weak.

2006-11-02 07:09:32 AM
Not much info on that list. So, there have been a few people that have gone to higher positions, but that can be said of most any list.

We need to be focusing on the big problems here. Such as, should I pick Kitna or Romo for my fantasy football roster this week.

You can also get a shorter list on wikipedia that says some of the members jobs.

Cheney, Ronald Lawton - 1958: On the board of Annie's Homegrown.

Ahh, it is all perfectly clear to me now.

John Kerry is a GOP double agent, who says real dumb things just before an election so that the GOP can postulate:

Kerry = Bad
Kerry = Democrat
Therefore, using transitive associativity:
Democrat = Bad!

Clear as mud, says I.

Stuff like that is just retarded and embarassing, like fraternites and sororities and anything else that people need to make them feel important and set their friends in stone.

I don't trust people who need organizations like this, loose, secret, hardcore, or otherwise. There's something fundamentally wrong with people so desperate to conform and belong that they join things like this.

/one of my sisters joined a sorority -- blew my mind. She let some random chicks who had already joined tell her what to wear and what to do. I was ashamed for her, but oh well, people will do what they want in life, I guess.

They may be organic, but they're not healthy! Their macaroni and cheese and the like have more calories and sodium than even the cheap 3/$1 stuff you can buy at the store. I kind of marvel at that... because people assume organic = healthy, and that's totally not the case here.

Humans look for acceptance through others and form packs based on that acceptance.

Like our not Serp, you do the same thing every day here on Fark. With your devil may care attitude you in turn attract a number of like minded people and conciously or not your ego is boosted because of it and you feel closer to the pack animal you naturually are.

We cannot escape a couple millenia of evolution in the span of a few thousand years of recorded history.

What about all of the graduates of Yale that were not members of Skull & Bones. Yup, I bet they are all pumping gas in NJ.

It is such crap. All organizations from churches, to Lions/Rotary/Masons, etc. try to help each other out. Just in the case of S&B, the members are all extremely wealthy, mostly from very powerful families, and go to a Ivy League school -- so most likely their networking will result in better jobs than say... networking at my happy hour club.

However, networking at my happy hour club will get you $1 drafts and 2-for-1 appetizers.

2006-11-02 08:22:28 AM
One of my best friends was a Skull. Sounds like a great organization if you ask me. What's the difference between this and "hooking all my boys up with jobs?"

2006-11-02 08:27:15 AM
Powerful people in this country would NEVER get together and plan among themselves for certain outcomes. Powerful interests would NEVER operate outside the law and maybe even kill people. Everything our government does is 100% above board and honest and everyone always plays by the rules.

/No, not really

I'm going through the same decision right now. I'm thinking Kitna because I'm a die hard Lions fan and he hasn't let me down yet.

Kitna or Romo? Next year show up in time for the draft.

Well, I enjoy like-minded people, but I spend most of my time alone, and don't join clubs to affirm that we're all the same. Loose associations with like-minded people is different than joining an actual club, in my eyes, because there's no membership rituals, no dress code, no specific ANYTHING, just the occassional person agreeing with me.

In a sense, I will admit,it is nice to not feel completely alone in the world, but I would rather bem truly, completely, alone than have to follow rules in order to have friends or be a part of something, ya know?
