It's obvious that if the Democratic party wins control of the House and/or Senate, the Republicans will engineer a terrorist attack so they can prove that the Democrats are weak on defense. I'd stay away from tall buildings for a while.

Pocket Ninja: the Republicans will engineer a terrorist attack

"The enemy is clearly delineated: he is a perfect model of malice, a kind of amoral superman-sinister, ubiquitous, powerful, cruel, sensual, luxury-loving. Unlike the rest of us, the enemy is not caught in the toils of the vast mechanism of history, himself a victim of his past, his desires, his limitations. He wills, indeed he manufactures, the mechanism of history, or tries to deflect the normal course of history in an evil way. He makes crises, starts runs on banks, causes depressions, manufactures disasters, and then enjoys and profits from the misery he has produced."

The Paranoid Style in American Politics is an essay by the American historian Richard J. Hofstadter.

The Wikipedia article I meant to link to is here (pops).

And it sounds interesting ThatDevGuy.

Last link has the names of 300 US casualties from a down played attack on US base in Iraq from two weeks ago... complete with name, rank, and unit.

Is this being held back because of the approaching election? If this is confirmed this administration must be held accountable. There is NO REASON to cover this up other then political gain.

Don't forget the mysterious fire at Fort Meade.

ThatDevGuy:

You do realize that Hofstadter was talking about Bush voters, don't you?
"Pseudoconservativism is among other things a disorder in relation to authority, characterized by an inability to find other modes for human relationship than those of more or less complete domination or submission. . . . The pseudo-conservative is a man who, in the name of upholding traditional American values and institutions and defending them against more or less fictitious dangers, consciously or unconsciously aims at their abolition. . . . [He] sees his own country as being so weak that it is constantly about to fall victim to subversion; and yet he feels that it is so all-powerful that any failure it may experience in getting its way in the world . . . cannot possibly be due to its limitations but must be attributed to its having been betrayed."

Rush isn't over yet, plus I figure it takes a while to wipe Cheetos-and-Vaseline-paste off their hands and peckers, so they can get back to typing.

Because companies and wealthy individuals NEVER use shredding services.

I'm not a republican, but c'mon. I know all kinds of folks and companies that shred documents. Doesn't mean they are corrupt.

/Vote Independent.

So what do you all think he wants to dispose of?

1. Undeniable proof that the Bush Administration manipulated WMD intelligence in the build up to the Iraq War

2. Undeniable proof that the Bush Administration let 9/11 happen on purpose

3. Halliburton receipts

You mean an executive with top-secret clearance might have things around that need to be shredded? Wow, you guys are on to something.

We have a shredding service come into the lab and office once a week and all we have is data that we don't want competitors to see. I really don't understand why the Vice President of the United States would need with the same service just because he has a need for disposal of ultra sensitive information from time to time just like every other Vice President in the history of the United States.

/Using shredding services is common in industries outside of fast food.
//Not that half the people around here would know that.
///Flame on, I'm going back to work anyway.

PNAC's manifesto

Yea, I guess when those shredding trucks come to work to shred stuff, that must mean we are crooks and hinding stuff! Jeez, maybe they are there actually shredding stuff that needs shredded?

2006-10-31 12:29:16 PM
I think it is plausible that if Democrats recapture BOTH houses, President Stoopid and Vice President Evil will try to prevent the 110th Congress from being seated. They'll use "terrism" or some stupid excuse to do this.

2006-10-31 12:29:19 PM
Cheney must be worried that his veil of secrecy may tear at last. Hell, people might even find out where he is!

2006-10-31 12:29:26 PM
I don't understand. If he's done nothing wrong he's got nothing to hide.

/thinking like that makes my brain hurt

speaking of hoftstader, i actually have to start reading the american political tradition for american history...

Lynn Cheney: I see you liberals are at it again. It isn't 'shredding', it's fighting terrorism.

Im going to go ahead and guess that he's shredding his daughters girl on girl porn action.

2006-10-31 12:30:02 PM
Of course, the Vice President wouldn't have sensitive documents that legitimately need to be shredded on a routine basis.
He must have the document proving Bush lied about WMD's leading to an invasion of Iraq and a 3,000% increase in his Halliburton stock.

Asshats.

2006-10-31 12:30:37 PM
I can't wait. I hope we tie the feet of bush so bad he won't be able to give a speech without speaker of the house pelosis' permission. That block every appropriations bill for the iraq war. He doesn't want leave iraq... so we'll just make them run out of money.

Gee ya think?
Institutions and businesses shredd to protect peoples privacy mostly. but this is likely a case of protecting his own.

2006-10-31 12:32:31 PM
I don't think shredding trucks are going to help them much. There's evidence of impeachable offenses available on YouTube. Like the signing of the bill eliminating Habeas Corpus and removing power from the courts to deteremine enemy combatant status.

Or the one violating the warrant clause of the Constitution. The president took an oath to uphold the Constitution, and he violated that oath. that's an impeachable offense. Also, anyone who voted in favor of that bill should also be impeached, since they took a similar oath.

I don't really know about his job, but I'd guess that my bosses would be annoyed if I brought THAT much sensitive paperwork home with me...

Depends. Is your home also owned by your employer?

Does make you wonder thoguh. I thought the feds had a fairly serious document retention policy. I know the military does.

I'd hate to be the guy who's job it is to paste all those little bits of paper back together.

One question: What is the Cheney compound at the naval observatory? Is it a government base or what? Is it his personal home?

scotttothety: Depends. Is your home also owned by your employer?

Only precariously ;)

Exactly along the lines I was thinking of.
