We were 'moonbats' when we said there were no weapons of mass destruction too, weren't we? We were all insane when we talked about how Halliburton and its subsidiaries would profit from the war, right?

-----------------

No, I never thought of the "there may not be WMD" crowd as moonbats. As far as Halliburton goes, of course they are going to profit from the war. What's your point??

"Dubya's_Coke_Dealer

Then shoe fits in reverse but since you're a leftist partisan, you must have missed that."

Thinking Bush and the current crop of Republicans are more corrupt than Nixon on his worst day, does not make me a leftist partisan. If it does, then 65% of Americans are leftist partisans. Thinking the administration has lied to us about the need for the war and conducted it in a manner guaranteeing its failure, does not make me a leftist partisan. If it does, then 65% of Americans are leftist partisans.

Maybe you need to take your blinders off. But, as a right-wing partisan, you can't tell you're wearing blinders.

It's OK. There's no rule you need to be smart to post on fark, as you are so eloquently proving.

Well, all we have to go by is the theory that the left would have farked up the war in Iraq, allowed an attack on American soil, and not have been able to capture bin Laden. With the right, we have actual proof of all three.

==============================================

The point is, these people had a vested interest in going to war. They had a vested interest in seeing 9/11 happen. The best reason that you have been given for why Osama Bin Laden wanted to ram planes into American buildings is, "he hates our freedom". Man, grow up. You really buy that? Meanwhile, the people who are making money off of this war...the people who gained unimaginable power during this fiasco are, for some reason, above suspicion? Why are you so confident that they would not kill 3,000 Americans in the towers to further an agenda when 600,000 Iraqis and more than 2,500 troops are dead for nothing?

Does make you wonder thoguh. I thought the feds had a fairly serious document retention policy. I know the military does.

That's the question I had as well. If he is shredding official documentation, surely the government has measures in place for not only reviewing, vetting, and disposing of unnecessary classified documentation. I wouldn't think it would be necessary for Dick to pick a shredding company out of the yellow pages and have the SS call for him.

Is anyone aware of the guidelines for destruction of classified / confidential government documents? I would think that this is something that comes up enough that proper people with the proper clearances are doing it, not just some random company.

As I understand it, there are periodic reviews for each official report that tells the people when it should be destroyed, and how long it should be kept. Either the documents are held until a given date (or new revision) and destroyed as soon as they become outdated (aside from master copies that Cheney wouldn't have) or they are destroyed as soon as they are read by the recipient. If he has enough documentation sitting around that he needs to hire a shredding service, would he not have been destroying documents properly as instructed or possibly jumping the gun on destroying documents that shouldn't be destroyed yet?

I dunno, this is probably a big deal - what is being destroyed, but the fact that it's happening isn't really anything important. Hell, Dick probably has enough personal documentation to justify a shredding / disposal service himself...after all, he has to destroy all those check stubs he gets from Haliburton after he deposits the profits in the Caymans. J/k, he got his money of the 3000% increase in his Haliburton options.

Oh, and just a side note on the 9/11 conspiracy. Anyone who says that 9/11 wasn't a conspiracy needs to look up the definition of conspiracy. Now, the big question is who was behind the conspiracy, not that there was one.

EVERYONE who has an opinion about what happened on 9/11 is buying into some conspiracy theory, it is simply a question of which conspiracy theory is more credible...i.e. 20 men and Osama did it all by themselves, the US Government did it and blamed Al Queda, the shadow government did it, Israel did it, etc.

That's right kids, the official 9/11 report is nothing more than a CONSPIRACY THEORY.

It's obvious that if the Democratic party wins control of the House and/or Senate, the Republicans will engineer a terrorist attack so they can prove that the Democrats are weak on defense. I'd stay away from tall buildings for a while.

Hmmm, since the executive and not the legislative branch is responsible for our protection, I see a small flaw in your logic.

See, now I could go along with the popular right wing whine "show me proof that the President had warning it was coming" , but who wants that?

That was also one of bin Laden's first attacks, so to speak. He was much less of a known risk back then. While no loss of life is really acceptable, at least there was much less of a loss of life in the first attack.

Of course, compared to the Bush administration, 1 out of 3 would put me in the hall of fame. ;)

In my studies of fark flamewars, I have noticed the neo-conservative far-right wing (where Bush et al come from) really just are no good a photoshop. You only ever see really poor quality photoshops from the GoP. I attribute this to their lack of something. Democrats are teh 3vil! Libertarians are teh 3vil! Greenies are teh 3vil! Only Republicans can see the Truth® and know how to truly lead our country! All others want to elect Obama Bin Laden!!

Bush is a great leader! True Americans™ support the President and his buddies, no matter what laws he's broken and how much he has betrayed the public trust.

Our forefathers could never have predicted that we'd have other people that wanted to kill us on our own soil, so they made up that pussy Constitution because they were naive and living in Peace Time and thought that we could afford to give people rights and stuff.

Oh you Cons are so great with your "Look over there its Nancy Pelosi BOO" rhetoric. Thats what never gets old, seeing you guys fear-monger for 6 years only to see it blow up in your face. You had a chance, you had the entire government behind you, you had the population behind you (Post 9/11) and all you guys can come up with is to blame other people, 6 years of blame. What are you gonna do for the next 2+ when you might actually have a valid reason for blaming someone when you dont get your way? Hey, who knows...maybe Dick will accidentally shred his pre-signed and undated presidential pardon. Then again, I'm sure he has more than one of those floating around, and he could always just order Bush to give him another one.

2006-10-31 01:54:56 PM
I think it is plausible that if Democrats recapture BOTH houses, President Stoopid and Vice President Evil will try to prevent the 110th Congress from being seated. They'll use "terrism" or some stupid excuse to do this.

They've already vowed to fight a "cataclysmic fight to the death" against a Democratic Congress.

I'm pretty far left on most issues yet I want the Dems to LOSE both houses. Why should they inherit this nearly incomprehensible mess made by W and his daddy's friends?

IF the Dems take back one or both houses, there is no doubt they will then get blamed for some of what's going to go wrong the next few years, even though most of it will be the results of this Administration's utter malfeasance and their ability to bide time.

Dems should say "no thanks." Keep it and we'll see you in 2012, or even 2015 based on the magnitude of how badly Repubs have governed. Winning now is like inheriting a beat-up, '71 Vega with a slipping tranny and 50 payments still left - would you want that?

Not defending this administration. But, with the memo that stated an attack exactly like this was coming crossing the presidents desk and being ignored, I'd say saving face is one possible reason for attempting to stop investigations.

StatJunkie - Why dear God can't we elect someone better than that farkup Perry?

I'm curious, what has perry done that has you irritated?

He has a horrible record on his repeted attempts to fix school funding, he has wasted millions of dollars with special sessions where the reps and sens do not even discuss the issues for which the session was called. He is an inefectual leader in general, and is also more liberal than Ann Richards.

A few years ago I wrote to him concerning school financing and voiced my opinion and support of a bill that would have met the requirements set forth by the courts as well as offered school choice. The reply he sent back was the biggest load of horse crap I have ever seen. He even said that school choice could not be supported because it would not account for the illegal immagrants here in this state.

And now we are looking at several hospital systems in this state that are haveing massive money problems due to the number of illegal residents using the emergancy room for basic health care and no manner set up to deal with the stress on the health care system.

On the issue of Illegals in this state Perry has been unwilling to even discuss any real solutions, instead he talks about putting up web cams and creating a website so that anyone can watch them cross.

I am sure that there is more.
