I'm sure most vice presidents have a giant truck come by to shred up all their "secure" documents. It happens all the time. Right?

The Decider: "Yeah, they are courrupt! Hey, what channel is Deal or No Deal on?"

Get the picture now?

that's not fair! I'm offended by that remark.

Crap...forgot to tape Heroes.

What is the Cheney compound at the naval observatory? Is it a government base or what? Is it his personal home?

There's a house that serves as the Vice-President's residence.

I'm almost afraid to find out what the scum in the White House have been up to for all these years. Usually any revelations that have slipped out before have been even worse than I thought.. I think if we ever get the full truth out of them, I'll puke.

More rats fleeing the sinking ship, this time Mike McGavick, the Republican candidate in Washington and a new ad:
"It begins with McGavick praising Bruce Guthrie, a Libertarian, and Aaron Dixon, a Green Party member, for having the "the guts" to call for an immediate troop withdrawal." Link.

Of course when the brave (cough, cough, cough) McGavick had President Bush, first lady Laura Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney and Rudy Guiliani visiting he somehow skipped this issue. But then they and the Republican party abandoned him.

Vulgar Mind: Awfully lot of details there to be untrue.
If they're covering this up this is
yet one more reason to impeach bushleague and cheney

This is a great site for the latest polls.
The Senate swing states are starting to look mighty good
for the good guys.
http://electioncentral.tpmcafe.com/#block-views-breaking_polls

VA-Senator Rasmussen Oct 31 Webb (D) 51%, Allen (R) 46%
MO Senator Talent (R) 49%, McCaskill (D) 49%
NJ Senator Menendez (D) 51%, Kean (R) 44%
VA-Senator CNN Oct 30 Webb (D) 50%, Allen (R) 46%

TN-Senator Zogby Int. Oct 31 Corker (R) 49%, Ford (D) 48%
I'd still love to see Ford win Tenn., as well.

We all know Cheney is too busy with his weather/typhoon machine to worry about shredding documents.

rose8199: I'd hate to be the guy who's job it is to paste all those little bits of paper back together.

When the Iranians captured the American embassy, the Americans were able to shred a few dumpsterfuls full of documents. The Iranians put them back together.

/that job would suck.

One question: What is the Cheney compound at the naval observatory? Is it a government base or what? Is it his personal home?

Its his hidey-hole. He needs to be protected at all times while he carries out his evil designs by remote contol, like a James Bond villian.

2006-10-31 12:41:13 PM
I have a shredder; every company I have ever worked for either had one or had a service like this dispose of its paper, means nothing w/o a lot more.

2006-10-31 12:41:20 PM
Remember back when it was just a few wackos that assumed that the president and vice president were up to no good whenever they saw something like this? Now it's closer to 50%.

Of course, those 'good ol days' were back in the 1800's...

Of course, the Vice President wouldn't have sensitive documents that legitimately need to be shredded on a routine basis.
He must have the document proving Bush lied about WMD's leading to an invasion of Iraq and a 3,000% increase in his Halliburton stock.

Asshats.

That is the routine stuff, which is why we're worried.

WarpZone: I'm sure most vice presidents have a giant truck come by to shred up all their "secure" documents. It happens all the time. Right?

I wouldn't be surprised. Businesses of all types have document retention and disposal guidelines.

Honestly, I think Cheney is the Devil himself (in an atheistic sort of way), and I honestly believe this administration was purposefully lax in protecting this country which is why 9/11 was allowed to happen, but I see this as a total non-story.

Or, maybe this really isn't Slackfumasta posting, but an apologist imposter!

I think I need to take my meds. Just picked them up after not having them for two days...

There are a couple of cars parked on base that have rabid anti-Bush bumper stickers. Astronomers, I think. It might've been one of them that submitted this to Wonkette.

Please allow me to repost your slashies, since some people probably skipped right over them. For those of you who missed it...
/Using shredding services is common in industries outside of fast food.
//Not that half the people around here would know that.
///Flame on, I'm going back to work anyway.

I use a shredding service because it's a waste of my time to put things through a few pages at a time. I keep a different can for the stuff I need to shred, sort of like a recycle bin. For those of you who don't shred your private documents (anything with your name and address), I suggest you start.

/flame on, I'm going to the bar to throw darts

Shreading truck "heading toward" is not the same as "is at" Chenay's house.

Chenay's house is at the observatory, of couse, so we can maintain contact with the home planet.

2006-10-31 12:50:58 PM
Rather than read the article, does he have these come often? Should he have such unconcerned access to copies, or the originals..., of sensitive information located at his house?

I will not join conspiracy theorists on this, only to say that we should perhaps have much better documentation on what is being shredded and were documents are.

So what do you all think he wants to dispose of?
1. Undeniable proof that the Bush Administration manipulated WMD intelligence in the build up to the Iraq War
2. Undeniable proof that the Bush Administration let 9/11 happen on purpose
3. Halliburton receipts

"Pseudoconservativism is among other things a disorder in relation to authority, characterized by an inability to find other modes for human relationship than those of more or less complete domination or submission. . . . The pseudo-conservative is a man who, in the name of upholding traditional American values and institutions and defending them against more or less fictitious dangers, consciously or unconsciously aims at their abolition. . . . [He] sees his own country as being so weak that it is constantly about to fall victim to subversion; and yet he feels that it is so all-powerful that any failure it may experience in getting its way in the world . . . cannot possibly be due to its limitations but must be attributed to its having been betrayed."

That particular line reminds me of two things:

1. People who are always afraid of terrorism.
2. People who think bush is about to make this country a police state.

Last link has the names of 300 US casualties from a down played attack on US base in Iraq from 2 weeks ago... complete with name, rank, and unit.

Is this being covered up because of the approaching election?

Ok, I just looked at the site posted with the latest polling numbers and it is truly sad.

TX-GOV Zogby Int. Oct 31 Perry (R) 37%, Bell (D) 29%, Strayhorn (I) 15%, Friedman (I) 14%

Why dear God can't we elect someone better than that farkup Perry?

Interesting you should say that. In Nazi Germany, a lot of the politicians were convinced that the WWI German government had been brought down by fifth column activity (by Jews, natch).
