Poor spermies... :(

Man: Don't worry, baby, I'm on the pill. Woman: Yeah, right.

SpongBub: Man: Don't worry, baby, I'm on the pill. Woman: Yeah, right.

However a study published in the British Medical Journal in 2000 found that only two per cent of women said they would not trust their partner to take a male Pill.

2006-10-31 08:33:16 AM
So, how long until the unintended side effects show up?

SpongBub: Man: Don't worry, baby, I'm on the pill. Woman: Yeah, right.

Nailed it right there. The only people who use this pill will be married couples, and even in those cases there will probably be resistance. It will be a complete failure as popular birth control for dating couples and young singles, because no sane woman would believe the man is actually using it.

Intersting--this is obviously the male version of "Norplant"--

The chemical implant acts as a contraceptive but does not change the balance of a man's sex hormones--but the article, the title, and the accompanying picture imply that this is an oral medication.

Naughty reporter!

This is only going to be worthwhile for people in committed, monogamous relationships who want to avoid conception. Doesn't do ANYTHING to prevent disease transmission. SO--under those conditions--yeah, I'd believe my partner.

2006-10-31 08:41:51 AM
Actually, it will be extremely popular because women who don't want kids but who are afraid to tell their husbands, will purchase it and bake it into their husbands' dinner, thus preventing pregnancy while being able to honestly say that they are not on the pill.

Yes, like most TFers, I believe Desperate Housewives is a documentary.

?

Or guys who don't want to be caught in the "IT'S A MAN!" trap.
I would think married couples would have established enough of a bond that if kids aren't in the big picture it's either pill all the time for her or a trip to tie up some loose ends for either one. I could be wrong, that's just my general impression.

Believe it or not, women have been known to lie about being on the pill in order to get a guy to stick around.

2006-10-31 08:42:54 AM
Haha, birth control. You heterosexual people are so funny.

So how does that change anything? If you're gonna have sex with somebody you don't trust, then I'd say you probably deserve what happens to you....

On the other hand, maybe they should make it have some physical effect showing that the dude is actually on the pill... like, uh, polka dots on your sac or something.

2006-10-31 08:45:18 AM
You're a chem major. This could be your big break mocking guy who..mocks.

That was for you Aurric :) Get rich off of this. It's still a few years in the making.
Somehow I think it's going to be in high demand

Andric: On the other hand, maybe they should make it have some physical effect showing that the dude is actually on the pill... like, uh, polka dots on your sac or something.

It has to be visible. Think of it as marketing. It will be a lot easier to pick girls up in a bar if they know there won't be any long term consequences because you have polka dots on your face.

2006-10-31 08:52:49 AM
A few years? I'm gonna be neck-deep in babies by then. Maybe it'd be better if I just had the gear disconnected.

.

2006-10-31 08:54:28 AM
Look, we all know that women are the whores, and therefore contraceptive responsibility falls upon them and them alone.

Sweater_Girl "Or guys who don't want to be caught in the "IT'S A MAN!" trap."

Oh God I am envisioning the end of the "if the man says he doesn't want the baby then he shouldn't have to pay support" argument and it is sooooo sweet.

I kinda thought so.

I'm actually a chem minor, but have done some work in a chem lab arleady, so it is a possibility. It's a growing field, and there are lots of opportunities that pop up, especially in something like this.

With medical advancements being made on a near-daily basis, it's amazing what we can do with drugs now, isn't it?

2006-10-31 09:01:12 AM
I would so use this. Hormonal birth control has been horrible for my partners, and all I want is something that prevents pregnancy, that I can take. But the sex hormone ones scare me, implanting female hormones that you have to take an injection of testosterone to counteract.

2006-10-31 09:04:32 AM
I realize female birth control works with womens' cycle... men don't have cycles... seems like the potential for long-term damage would be higher.

2006-10-31 09:09:05 AM
BigBen: why would this not work for non married couples?

Because even though the guy you met last night in a bar says he's been on the man-pill for 6 months, you have no way of knowing... so a woman is playing russian roulette unless she can be sure the guy is telling the truth.

What does one have to do with the other?

Sweater Girl: I would think married couples would have established enough of a bond that if kids aren't in the big picture it's either pill all the time for her or a trip to tie up some loose ends for either one.

Some women can't take the pill for health reasons. I've got a younger brother because of that. But I digress...

As for tying up loose ends, a male "pill" has the added, very significant, advantage it can be discontinued if a couple wants to try for kids again. Undoing vasectomies and tubal ligations is a much bigger deal.

I think my husband's going to be tickled pink. He's going to have to find his own ob/gyn, though. Going to mine would just be creepy.

2006-10-31 09:34:55 AM
Problem is, the pill isn't taken orally. You put it in your shoe and it makes you limp.

/old joke

Isn't she already? Who knows if he has the herp or not?

Burn_The_Plows: Isn't she already? Who knows if he has the herp or not?

Indeed. You won't get arguments from me on that. I was just replying to BigBen's question.

It is:) Anyone who has the ability to master chemistry has the keys to the kingdom, imo.

That's an excellent point LyleDAL. Didn't even think of that. No side effects and no long lasting repercussions.
Win win

Sweater Girl: That's an excellent point LyleDAL.

Yep. I was well on my way to being a spoiled rotten "only" but mom had to go off the pill due to it driving up her blood pressure. Dad comes home on leave and TA-DA! I have to start sharing my toys!

If ONLY this treatment had existed 33 years ago!

/Actually likes my little bro. He sucks a lot less now that I don't have to share my stuff with him anymore!

2006-10-31 10:02:20 AM
Ha! My mom was done after 4 boys
so she thought.
They never shared their toys though.

Then again we're of the age where back then unless hee haw or Brady Bunch was on..there was no other entertainment.

Hrm. Sounds intriguing.

`Hello dial-a-nurse? I seem to have a pill jammed in my urethra .....'

2006-10-31 10:09:45 AM
Just do what I did and go for the 'no-scalpel' vasectomy. Twenty minute outpatient procedure, two days of moderate swelling and pain, never again have to worry about your woman catching the most dangerous STD.

I like to think of the vasectomy as paying for the first two abortions up front and getting all the subsequent ones for free.

So why are you sleeping with him if you don't trust him?

Yeah like some guy is going to pay for that shiat then actually take it on a regular basis. Worst idea ever.

2006-10-31 10:10:54 AM
'Bout time.

Pill taking is in the hands of someone I can trust.

Cmon...The real question here is that are women going to like the taste of the seminal fluid in their mouth/throat with no actual sperm present?

/wife is actually concerned about that
//also how it tastes when she goes down on a woman after I've been there...
//TMI?

2006-10-31 10:15:49 AM
God--: TMI?

Yes.

Some of you are very dense. This is freedom for men. This will empower men to make reproductive choices and it will be the best thing ever.

As a man you have 2 reproductive choices, No sex or use a condom.

You would think by now men would be sick of not having any say in reproductive choices that could affect them for 18 years or more.

Women have the pill, IUDs, sponges, abortion, norplant, pills etc. Hell, they can even have the baby and dump it off at a fire station or hospital and never have any obligations. But men can't.

This is your best defense against psycho women. You want to sex them up but you don't want to have to cut them checks for 18 years every month, take a pill!

I love it. Sign me up. I will no longer have to worry about stupid biatches tyring to trap me or my money.

2006-10-31 10:16:51 AM
Yeah!!! More promiscuious sex without the need for condoms.

2006-10-31 10:17:53 AM
it is likely to be an implant rather than a pill as the tablet would be broken down in the digestive tract.

That's good because I know I'd be retarded enough to forget to take it.

2006-10-31 10:18:45 AM
What single guy would not take this? I will be double dosing these things. You can never have enough safety measures when it comes to creating kids.

Well this is great!

So long as you're in a committed monogamous relationship with an STD-free partner...

/get back to me when the pill works as well as a condom

2006-10-31 10:19:37 AM
'no side effects'. that's what all pharma companies say 10 years before the lawsuits pile up and become class action.

Ummm no. If it truly has no side effects, I'm in!
Or what, you like risking the chance that a woman calls you up with "It's your baby!"

2006-10-31 10:20:13 AM
at the disease thing, not the baby thing...this would probably work more reliably than a condom in that department
