Obviously you hate God and you are a very sad person. Its people like you that equate abortion with war as if they are the same thing, God knows it isn't. You suck. I wish you would think about what you are saying and how hurtful it is to those that love and worship God. Sure there are some good "atheists", but most of them would rather hang out with Devil Worshippers than true believers and followers of the real God. When people attack us, we should always attack them back and kill them. They hate us for our Freedom and if we don't stop them now, we will all be worshipping Allah and speaking arab in a few short years. So, please let the thinking people do the Lord's work and you can go try to save some trees or otters. Or whatever the hell it is that you Libtards do with your time.

Well, first of all, someone has to stand up to nonsense like, "We've far exceeded pre-war levels torture and death.", which flies in the face of reality. The level of self-delusion necessary to make such a statement is truly scary.

Self-delusion? Try statistical evidence and the opinions of informed experts.

Look, if you want to stand up to those studies, be my guest. But you're going to need to do a lot more than just call people names who quote them in order to do that. What are the specific flaws in the methodology those studies used?

And yeah; we should leave. The Catch-22 is that we can't until the Iraqis can defend their own government.

Which will not be possible until there's one government that most citizens can agree to live with. Which does not appear to be anywhere close to happening.

The guys they've got nowadays are tough (for the most part).

Unfortunately, they're also the ones refusing to do anything about the people lobbing bombs at us. Those who aren't lobbing bombs at us themselves.

There's nothing fancy about it. We prop up the good guys, beat down the bad guys, and get the hell out of the way at the first opportunity.

Who are the good guys? Who are the bad guys? That's the thing about a guerrilla war -- you don't really know!

Oh, wait. "You're".

So then you are saying that Israel DOESN'T work OK with it, since Palestinians, both Muslim and Christian, don't seem to be getting such a good deal.

Democracy in Iraq? What?!

You CAN'T have democracy in your country when you are militarily occupied by the most powerful Army in the world.

What exactly does the "democratic" Iraqi government control? Their exports? Imports? Security? Public health care? Taxation?

They control NOTHING. The USA, as the occupying power, controls the borders, the trade, and the daily public relations. The PEOPLE, who supposedly voted in the cabinet (haha) control NOTHING, not even their own security. Every day they put their lives at risk just going frickin SHOPPING.

It's just all so simple and Dr. Seussian to say "well we brought them democracy". "B-b-but they had blue ink on their fingers!"

You've brought them death, destruction and misery. You've "fought the terrorists there so you don't have to fight them at home". Well unfortunately, those currently being slaughtered and tortured in Iraq probably don't quite see it exactly the same way... Go figure.

I just hope the next Prez can say, "Sorry world, Bush was a colossal fark-up, we're going to try and fix the mistakes he made."

It's amazing how much the love and word of God/Allah can inspire such horrible violence and suffering.

When will the "soldiers of God/Allah" realize that the hell of war is not holy at all. When will they finally see that their struggle is not really to benefit God/Allah, so much as to benefit their own social/economical heads of state, culture and religion. When will the soldiers of religion realize that the engagement of loving, charitable and nurturing activites is the real work of the divine, whilst also finding that the activities of killing, torture and destruction are the tools of the devil.

I think even absent the development of religion, we'd still fight wars. It's more about human nature than anything else.

Another follower, teacher Patrick Hewitt, said the pastor will shortly post instructions, on his website on how parishioners should cast their ballots for the mid-term elections. "I'm going to vote the way he tells me," he said.

Sounds like someone needs to have their tax-exempt status revoked. Oh, wait, there are thousands of conservative churches who do this in broad daylight every week, but the IRS investigates... one liberal church based on a single sermon.

This is disgusting. The IRS either needs to investigate the conservative churches and bust them for electioneering, or all churches should have their tax exempt status revoked (particularly when you have a "pastor" making $1 million yearly...).

In a discussion with a religious guy at work. i asked him if he thought the end days were here and if he thought he would see the "second coming", of course he said yes.

Before everyone reads The God Delusion, I recommend that they read:

www.houghtonmifflinbooks.com

He warns against the plague of regularly recurring fiction. I wonder what he thinks of the Harry Potter books, and the X-Men comics and movies? Some quotes from the Grand Arbiter of Truth:

"The cult of The X-Files has been defended as harmless because it is, after all, only fiction. On the face of it, that is a fair defence. But regularly recurring fiction - soap operas, cop series and the like - are legitmately criticized if, week after week, they systematically present a one-sided view of the world. The X-Files is a television series in which, every week, two FBI agents face a mystery. One of the two, Scully, favours arational, scientific explanation; the other agent, Mulder, goes for an explanation which is either supernatural or, at very least, glorifies the inexplicable. The problem with The X-Files is that routinely, relentlessly, the supernatural explanation, or at least the Mulder end of the spectrum, usually turns out to be the answer. I'm told that, in recent episodes, even the sceptical agent Scully is starting to have her confidence shaken, and no wonder.

But isn't it just harmless fiction, then? No, I think the defence rings hollow. Imagine a television series in which two police officers solve a crime each week. Every week there is one black suspect and one white suspect. One of the two detectives is always towards the black suspect, the other biased towards the white. And, week after week, the black suspect turns out to have done it. So, what's wrong with that? After all, it's only fiction! Shocking as it is, I believe the analogy to be a completely fair one. I am not saying that supernaturalist propaganda is as dangerous or unpleasant as racist propaganda. But The X-Files systematically purveys an anti-rational view of the world which, by virtue of its recurrent persistence, is insidious."

-pg 28

And from the same book, the Grand Arbiter of Truth tries to shatter a six-year-old girl's belief in Father Christmas:

"I remember once trying gently to amuse a six-year-old child at Christmas time by reckoning up with her how long it would take Father Christmas to go down all the chimneys in the world. If the average chimney is 20 feet long and there are, say, 100 million houses with children, how fast, I wondered aloud, would he have to whizz down each chimney in order to finish the job by dawn on Christmas Day? He'd hardly have time to tiptoe noiselessly into each child's bedroom, would he, since he'd necessarily be breaking the sound barrier? She saw the point and realized that there was a problem, but it didn't worry her in the least. She dropped the subject without pursuing it. The obvious possibility that her parents had been telling falsehoods never seemed to cross her mind. She wouldn't have put it in these words but the implication was that, if the laws of physics rendered Father Christmas's feat impossible, so much the worse for the laws of physics. It was enough that her parents had told her he went down all the chimneys during the few hours of Christmas Eve. It must be so because Mummy and Daddy said it was."

-pg 141

In all fairness, though, I'd say the professor won that debate. What a CRACKPOT! HaHaHaHa!

2006-10-30 04:18:03 PM
siener, Riche:

Maybe they should begin with something a little lighter. Maybe a commentary by the man.

Dawkins describes how evolution is a predictive science:

Contrary to what is sometimes alleged, evolution is a predictive science. If you pick any hitherto unstudied species and subject it to minute scrutiny, any evolutionist will confidently predict that each individual will be observed to do everything in its power, in the particular way of the species - plant, herbivore, carnivore, nectivore or whatever it is - to survive and propagate the DNA that rides inside it."

Although not an evolutionist, I'm confident of the following predictions: In addition to doing everything in their power to survive and propagate, I predict that ONE DAY EACH OF THOSE INDIVIDUALS WILL DIE. And also, on that very day, THE SUN WILL RISE IN THE EAST. Remember, you heard it here first.

CRACKPOT! HaHaHaHa!

Gos needs money

"They condoled with him and comforted him for all the evil which the LORD had brought upon him; and each one gave him a piece of money and a gold ring." (Job 42:11 NAB)

Burn Children

Later on God tested Abraham's faith and obedience. "Abraham!" God called." Yes," he replied. "Here I am." "Take your son, your only son - yes, Isaac, whom you love so much - and go to the land of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains, which I will point out to you." (Genesis 22:1-2 NLT)

Oh man,

After hearing all of this it makes me wonder if we should be classified with the chimps. Religion is a waste of time. Jesus Christ in my opinion, was the first friendly hippie on Earth. All he wanted was for everybody to respect each other and love each other. Throughout the centuries and millenia, that message has been perverted. If you want to be religious, then go back to his original message (if it can be found), and start all over. But in my humblest opinion I quote Jesse Ventura (Former Governer of Minnesota):
"Religion is a crutch for the weak-minded"
