(TurnTo10)   God was a little too busy to do anything about Darfur last weekend, but did manage to leave a cross of fallen tree limbs on statue of Jesus in Buffalo during snowstorm there (pic)   (turnto10.com) divider line 577

Maybe Jesus can only affect really minor things. Like in the movie Ghost when Patrick Swayze is learning to touch stuff. Maybe this is the extent of God's powers.

/Just saying that if this is considered a miracle...

It's pretty simple folks:

Good thing happens: People take the credit...
Bad thing happens: Blame it on God....

Yes, of course. God had to protect some idiot in buffalo from a freaking snowstorm. Cuz they are the worst natural disaster known to man. And of course he was protecting just her!

This is just proof that Christianity is the only correct religion, God is on the side of the USA and we should continue bombing the fark out of anyone who isnt us.

Slappy Kincaid

I still maintain that people who need to claim these as signs of Jesus or God existing really need to examine the word "faith" and what it means. Oh yeah, and they should shut the hell up whatever their beliefs are. Keep it to yourself. The world does not need to know how religious you are - bragging about it is directly inverse to what you're supposed to do. Jackasses.

Telling a religious person that you never want to see, hear or deal with their religion and they should practice it in a closet if possible is the same as telling a gay person to be as gay as they want to be as long as they never actually have homo-sex.

A religious worldview effects everything in someone's life just like your (non-religious?) worldview does the same for you.

No kidding.

Life's meaning is what you make of it, really. Who cares what the ultimate destination comes out to be? Enjoy the journey. Stop and smell the roses. That's what they'r ethere for.

"The one with all the crap on the walls?" - so, that narrows it down to, oh, about 150 national chains and most local tavern hangouts right?

I heard that God left the whole Darfur thing in the hands of Chuck Norris. There isn't genocide occuring there, it is a flurry of roundhouse kicks that is wiping out the population.

I'd like to know where exactly the reporter comes from that he finds it acceptable to describe the storm as having "spared a statue of Jesus" when said statue was pummeled by tree limbs to the point of fracture.

2006-10-20 03:02:17 PM
Guess I got outed as someone whose barely seen "Super Troopers"

/I think I saw the opening scene

2006-10-20 03:02:17 PM
A woman who lives nearby said her home didn't suffer any damage. She said she thinks the statue is proof that a higher power was watching over her family during the storm.

Absolutely. Too bad that god was so focused on watching over her that he forgot about the 1000's of children getting molested across the world at the time, the millions starving to death and dying from lack of basic healthcare, and the 4 million kids orphaned in Africa from AIDS. etc. etc. etc.

This psychotic shiat piasses me off because she actually gets to vote.

/And people like her.

at least that's what I'm told.

And y'know- blanket statements and stuff do make the threads entertaining at least.

Peace.

Cue the carnival of wackos driving by to see the "miracle". I can see them now, crying at the foot of the statue, leaving flowers and other offerings. I often wonder if those people have jobs...

2006-10-20 03:02:42 PM
PeopleFirst - I was raised in an Italian American household, guess which religion I am. As I've gotten older, I've subscribed to the motto, "Never let religion get in the way of your faith." I don't discuss religion with people - I've been in situations where fundies have tried to convert me once they found out I worshipped the pope, etc., my reaction was most un-Christ like. I respect any person's beliefs, just don't need to have them try and force them on me.

No, but believing that Jesus was born of a virgin and then died and came back to earth as a ghost does make you more stupid than someone who doesn't believe such nonsense.

You're right. We do. I go to church, I try to be good to everyone, I avoid wearing my religion on my sleeve and I try to be a good person and yet, I get grouped with these people.

How is the submitter an asshole? He's pointing out something we all, including the religious, should know: one person is not the center of the universe.

That's the way life goes, sadly. But hell, we're all humans, aren't we? All related, one way or another, and all stuck on the same rock....so we may as well try to be nice to each other, even if each other stinks.
