Their suckiness cannot exceed that of a Detroit - St Louis series.

Can it?

I dunno, that Bob Saget was pretty funny in "The Aristocrats".

the tigers deserve a quick win.

-to those of you who do not care...they had an awesome season.

they really did.

they will be formidable for the next five years if their pitching holds out.

all of these guys could have sold out to the evil yankees...but they didn't.

and they probably won't.

-that is why they are 'my tigers'.

you can't buy some things, greedy america.

If you are whinning about the Tigers and Cardinals in the series Tommy LaSorda is right you're a big baby. This baseball for christsakes and these are two exciting teams and this should be a great series.

/whiny west coast/east coast bandwagon fans can go suck a used jockstrap

It's nice to see Anita Baker rebound from that Clarence Thomas fiasco and start up a fine singing career.

I am a National League fan. I think that the AL is the devil incarnate via the DH.

That being said, I will be rooting for Detroit as they have been in the black hole of suck for so long and I always pull for the underdog.

That and because I hate the Cards....

Submitter must be a New York fan...

The Tigers have worked incredibly hard to get into the Series.

I'm not making any predictions so as not to jinx the games.

Don't worry, smitty. When you see the ratings, you'll find that not much of the country will be suffering.

Bauer: all of these guys could have sold out to the evil yankees...but they didn't.

Huh? Which of the Tigers could've sold out to the Yankees? Most of them, especially on the pitching staff, haven't been eligible for free agency yet, and the Yankees (to my knowledge) never expressed interest in any of the ones that were.

Not that I would've minded if they'd pursued Todd Jones or Sean Casey when they were free agents, but they didn't.

Unless you mean that they could've curled up and died when they played the Yankees in the ALDS, but that's not "selling out."

The fact that you combine Yankees and Mets fans shows you know little about baseball.

/I kid
//but seriously it must be easy to hate teams from New York b/c they usually don't win the WS.

Anita Baker,
for some reason I thought of Tammy Fae Baker,
her makeup all running down her face as she sings
the anthem.

weird

Detroit rock city! Bob Seger rocks.

Maybe Kid Rock and Joe C will join him up on stage.

Anita Baker is a fantastic entertainer but very loopy. She once bought a restaurant just so she could tear it down. She might feel the 'need' to do something wonky given the biggest audience of her career.

Seriously though, what the hell is up with every comment on Detroit baseball being so goddamn negative on Fark?

I belive the admins can go fark themselves. Detroit is a city that, with all of its lows, deserves a good (non-drug induced) high now and then. God knows they aren't going to get it from the Lions.

Seriously, like Lexington, Farking-Kentucky is the best place in the world. Get over it. Detroit has awesome and (occasionally) lights-out pitching. Their offense isn't too shabby either. Everyone is entitled to root for 'their' team, but the Detroit negativity on Fark is unbelievable.

detroit has a lot of pride in our (shiatty) sports teams, it's a big deal for us when things go well. i live 15 miles outside the city, and on every taco bell, wendy's and big boy (PLEASE hold your comments!!) there' a GO TIGERS. it's good for our self esteem.
so, uh, go tigers!
/and take the lions with you! wakka wakka wakka!

Bob Segar and Anita Baker are awesome. I'm glad about the whole thing. If you don't recognize the stellar singularity of their voices, you don't get any supper. They do not SUCK. YOU suck (if you indeed think they suck). So shut up.

2006-10-20 04:27:17 PM
No hate for the tigers from this farker. I'm usually a staunch "If my team ain't in it pull for the NL without their pansy DH rule" but my hatred of the Cardinals runneth over.
Plus seeing your turn around over the last couple years gives this beaten and battered Cubs fan a reason for his perennial hope, and a reminder that "wait till next year" can really happen, and isn't a pure delusion (well...maybe not NEXT year, but maybe the one after that...).
You know, that and you've got a genuinely good team up there.
/won't start rooting for UM however, don't push this goodwill too far you Michiganers

Tigers in 4.
If you have been watching the games both these teams play well and smart, but The tigers are the better team. To bad the Lions suck.

Anita Baker is one of the best singers of the last 30 years. Recognize and respect the talent.

/seger is money as well

2006-10-20 05:46:18 PM
It'll be a fun series. Just because it's two smaller teams, so what? Those can make for great matchups. It continues a nice millenial run of underdogs winning titles, that's a good thing.

Seger's been good for Detroit, he's always loved and championed his hometown, it's a deserving call to let him do this.

Cake Hunter: It's nice to see Anita Baker rebound from that Clarence Thomas fiasco and start up a fine singing career.

That almost made me spit some Dr. Pepper. And I'm not even drinking Dr. Pepper.

/and hey, who put a pube on my soda can?
