"Roeper" always looks like it’s misspelled

I always think that too.

Yesterday when I was watching this unfold live I was yelling at the tv. Every anchor was trying to coerce people into saying, "OMG it's teh 9/11 all over again!!" My husband was yelling at me to simma down but I couldn't help the fear-mongering they were trying perpetuate.

Damn, I was hoping it was the "one-hitter" redlight...

This was the one added by an Admin about 20 minutes after it went green.

I still liked the redlit one that said "Contrary to popular belief, Cory Lidle can hit the broad side of a building"

So, I wonder if Roeper is a farker or just a lurker. He probably likes to waste his employer's money as much as the rest of us. At least he can do it under the guise of "research".

That's a good one labman. Perhaps its time to renew my membership...

Roeper is just a penname for Ric Romero. Don't believe me? Check out this recent Roeper article, which explains that if you read the fine print in the McDonald's Monopoly game, you'll find that your chances of winning the grand prize are very, very small.

Well DUH!

Dick Roeper. sounds like a porno. heheh.

I farted with glee at the first "high and inside" joke from yesterday's thread, but barely managed a "meh..." at the following 10 versions of the same joke.

I haven't farted with glee in a long, long time.

Simma down... yeah, you got to simma down

Cory Lidle should straighten up and fly right.

2006-10-12 09:58:34 AM
I totally stole the "We know ARod was not on the plane because he can't hit anything at all" line last night.

It got a big laugh.

I did not attribute it to Fark.

Because that is the way I roll.

/I also have found myself saying that is "the way things roll" lately.
//please help me.

He also missed the sale at Penny's.

2006-10-12 10:12:45 AM
What's this guy doing looking at Fark all day? He should be working, damn it! Another lazy slacker wasting his life away checking out Fark headlines when he should be producing something. Man, that sort of thing really ticks me off...

Does it really get any better than when I sing "When a Man loves a WOman"?

The "Quick Takes" columnist also seems to rely heavily on Fark stories, although I guess it's possibly a coincidence that more than half the stories he mentions are also posted here.

Too bad he hasn't discovered the Voting tab

No kidding. I think all of these from the Voting tab were better:

"Cory Lidle ends career with one-hitter"
"There's a sale at Penney's"
"Contrary to popular belief, Cory Lidle CAN hit the broad side of a building"
"Cory Lidle has tied Thurman Munson's single-season record for dying in an airplane crash"
"Yankees free up 3.3 million dollars. Steinbrenner buys planes for Ron Villone and Scott Proctor"

Mike_Bolton

I remember going to a garage sale and buying some crappy old rocker for 5 bucks.

I think his name was Eddie Money.

They ladies, they love that Michael Bolton music.

I'm not a Roeper-aficiancado, but can someone explain to me why he's writing about a plane crash that doesn't involve a major movie studio?

2006-10-12 10:58:22 AM
labman owes me a new keyboard and a new pair of boxers.

2006-10-12 11:07:07 AM
djtripod

Because it's Roeper's regular op-ed piece for the Sun-Times (which he was doing long before Ebert & Roeper)

"I'm not a Roeper-aficiancado, but can someone explain to me why he's writing about a plane crash that doesn't involve a major movie studio?"

Roeper's getting warmed up for the Cory Lidle story to be the ABC movie of the week.

2006-10-12 11:17:03 AM
Roeper should change his name to Captain Obvious. Worst "writer" ever.

2006-10-12 11:34:31 AM
Wow, and that was one of the lamest greelit headlines ever. Oh well.

2006-10-12 11:39:40 AM
*phew* For a second I thought you guys actually cared about me trying to build nukes. My fears were unfounded, it seems.

/labman for the win!

That there's worth the price of Total Fark. Where do I sign up?

FTFA: (to this day, Munson's Yankee locker remains empty as a tribute.)

Dude... it was yesterday, not 11 October 1171 AD.

"If it turns out to be something more than that -- and one day, it will turn out to be something else -- immediate local concerns like the gubernatorial race and the weather and the Bears will suddenly seem trivial."

And WHY???? _BECAUSE YOU PEOPLE ARE IDIOTS!!!!!_

If a right-wing nutjob inspired by militia speakers blows up a building or an Islamist nutjob inspired by international jihadistas blows up a building-- the victims are JUST AS DEAD.

We don't count the DC snipers or the anthrax attacks as "international terrorism" so I guess they don't "change everything"

Thurman Munson died in 1979, not yesterday. Cory Lidle died yesterday, but hey, you can pull a Dubya and claim that those small words confuse you.

did anyone else notice that the plane Lidle owned (Cirrus SR20), was mentioned in an article yesterday as being a deathtrap?
