Greenlit? The farktard didn't even stand underneath the jet *which was obviously NOT using its VTOL capability to land*

Go watch "Pushing Tin" again, Mod. Maybe next time, you'll try this yourself and we'll get something INTERESTING approved.

Great angle.

Back, and to the side.

Back, and to the side.

Back, and to the...oh, wasn't this where we debated the angle of the bullet that killed JFK?

I am waiting for the story where they talk about playing "Catch" with live hand-grenades!

2006-10-12 08:27:52 AM
-And if the jet was using VTOL the soldier would have been killed, right? Is that what it takes to rate a greenlight around here?
Totally nonsensical post, guy...

Don't remember too many boring days in Kandahar

They stopped this practice of standing at the end of the landing strip about 6 months ago. Danger wasn't from the jet wash but from snipers.

Now all they have is Camilla [a really cute sheep] for fun...or you can ride the camel into town.

Did they eat breakfast, 400 yards away?

Crap that's an old video that has been on YouTube for months. Is it fake or what?

FarkinNortherner
I can't see the video in that. The sound works but no video (great video site they got). Tried Linux and Windows, neither worked.

2006-10-12 09:25:05 AM
yeah same here video didn't work but the sound did.

Well, personally, I think the guy was a puss'. It's one thing to duck if you don't know it's coming. Sure it scares the hell out of you and you duck. But this guy saw it was coming.

Admittedly though, it is a good way to break up the boredom.

Dog's breakfast? Behind the post xchange near the MWR tent, down Warrior Way & turn left @ the gift shop. About 10,500 feet at the other end of the landing strip from where the guy is standing.

lego addict:
Have your seen the Afgan women when the burka comes off? برقعة,and sheep usually don't carry weapons.

And the oh-so-evil-sniper is...where, in relation to the guy showing his buttocks to the Harrier?

Weird. Try here (NSFW language). Quite old, but worth a watch.

jook:
There is a berm & some scrub brush @ the SW end, from the video looks like he's @ the NE end facing SW [towards the snipers], everything else is pretty flat desert for miles & miles & miles [bfe]. There is a range to the south but getting off a clean shot from there is pretty remote. Night is alot different, they can come from any direction.

Or was that a trick question?

2006-10-12 10:32:35 AM
Not at all, FLYNAVY.

It suggests something good: the military put some fear into you, about the "boogeyman": protect yourselves.

But the boogeyman ain't there. He's not going to go there. He can't get a good shot, and he certainly can't take out anyone other than some jackass trying to earn his macho stripes.

The "terrorists" aren't stupid....which is a tragic mistake our military (and the U.S. Gubment) have seemed to made.

and if a tragic circumstance occurred and one of those folk mooning a Harrier were actually shot by a sniper, I hope you won't label him a hero, forcing him into martyrdom...because I'm getting weary of it.

I don't care how bored you are, playing chicken with turbines or snipers doesn't inspire support from me.

/off the high horse and onto THE STEEL RESERVE

flipknob

So, how many times have you stood still and let a massive and incredibly powerful (and armed?) fighter jet fly 15, hell even 50, feet over your head?

2006-10-12 10:52:03 AM
Well its agood thing to see we're paying for jet fuel for all the right reasons

I don't think they really care either way. Just trying to have some fun in an othewise dismal place.

Whether you agree or not that we're there, you still have to support the people that are.

2006-10-12 10:54:05 AM
Agree, playing chicken with a military aircraft is incredibly stupid but some of these guys, especially the reserve Army units, are stuck there for 12 months with alot of time on their hands. It's like anywhere else, 19-20 year old guys are gonna find some fun. When you live in a stress environment 24/7 they don't always pick the safest way to relieve the tension.

These guys, however, do deserve your support just for being there & serving their country. They are all hero's in my book, even the dumb ones.

2006-10-12 01:42:12 PM
Heh, why is it that whenever you get a group of guys together with expensive toys, we figure out how to do the stupidist thing possible with it?

2006-10-12 02:39:51 PM
This is old. They're not bored now. Afghanistan is the most intense and sustained infantry fight the British army has seen since the Korean war.

2006-10-12 11:00:26 PM
plane fly low good practice. Jook is retard

2006-10-13 01:48:31 AM
I misread the headline as "checkers" instead of "chicken".

I was thoroughly disappointed.

2006-10-13 06:27:12 PM
this will all end in tears...haven't any of them ever read catch 22?
