It has been 17 years since the last film, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

OW! A grey hair just poked out of my school.

I finally finished watching the unbutchered trilogy. Maybe it's just the nostalgia talking, but it's amazing how well those films have held up.

He likes architecture, he says, so he started to help design the new USC film school building.

That's cool. Except when, in fifteen years, Lucas will have it bulldozed during classes. "I always intended this area to be a garden, but I didn't have the budget back then."

I'm so looking forward to Indiana Jones vs. Bubba Ho-Tep. Do you think they could get some boring made-up politics in this movie? Or maybe he could drop his dentures and reach through a rapidly closing door to retrieve them. I wonder what 23 year old starlet gets to kiss grandpa?

/Even numbered Indiana Jones movies suck!

submitter: and why he keeps screwing up his old movies

Please. Your childhood is intact.

God, I'm so sick of star wars. Lucas should have quit while he was ahead. Over hyped, and over merchandised.

2006-10-11 12:59:34 AM
How about Indiana Jones vs Boba Fett? Or maybe Darth Vader vs. the cast of American Graffiti. Possibilities are endless.

come up with some new ideas and don't ruin your old ones, assbag

I'd love to see Indiana Jones find a lightsaber. There could be a hidden graphic on the wall of George Lucas just masturbating like all get out.

The new versions of the Star Wars movies are fine. Quit being so freakin' nostalgic.

/if anything, with the touching up of the film quality, sound, editing etc etc they're better
//flame on, geriatrics

Are they talking about the animated clone wars? The first one rocked. It was better than the first trilogy, probably because he didn't have much to do with the animation or voice acting.

2006-10-11 01:08:30 AM
Bah! And the headline is wrong, there's nothing about why he keeps messing with HIS old movies.

2006-10-11 01:09:49 AM
Dear whiners,

Please come up with better ideas if you're so great. Nobody's forcing you to watch the remakes or buy the toys.

Much love,
George

The only thing that will ever make the "Internet Fans" happy is a "Cut and Paste" version of the Star wars films where they can choose their own personal version of the film. Greedo Shooting First, all the enhanced audio effects, the missing sand scene from Jedi...

I may be an overweight Star Wars nerd, living in my moms basement, surrounded by thousands of dollars worth of merchandise, but I truly believe that Lucas can do whatever he wants with his films. No one is forcing the fans to buy additional DVDs, toys, or making them watch the TV series.

If we're into endless possibilities, why not true cross overs? Like Boba Fett versus Batman or something?

what a shock, they wanted tot alk abou tthe movies, but Lucas had his mind more on money.

no way!

2006-10-11 01:40:33 AM
Lucas, Ford, and yes even Spielberg haven't made anything truly worthwhile in the past decade (I'll give a passing grade to "Munich" though). Indiana Jones 4 will suck, especially having the writer of War of the Worlds.

Actually, a good-quality digital transfer of the original films, as they were shown in theaters back then, assembled and restored from the best available sources with no new "enhancements" whatsoever... Just the movies. As they were. That is all any of the "Han Shot First" crowd was ever asking for, and we are all still waiting.

I would turn cartwheels of joy if such a release ever happened.

Twenty bucks a film for a thrid-rate Laser Disk rip which isn't even an anamorphic DVD and is of lower quality than what I can get from torrent files? That, my friend, is a sick joke.

God he's a tool.

Picked the fan movie about buying action figures over all the superior ones in the short films contest too...

Dollar signs are all he cares about.

Star Wars was a really good movie, Empire is one of the best movies ever made, from there on out the whole thing's been spiraling the toilet...

Boba Fett vs Wil Wheaton?

nah, Boba Fett would get swallowed up again. only this time by Wil Wheaton's giant, pulsating vagina.

danduran: if anything, with the touching up of the film quality, sound, editing etc etc they're better

I dunno, I don't think so.

I'm not a Star Wars fanboy by any streth of the imagination, but objectively speaking, the original 3 had much better plot and characters. My main problem with the recent 3 was the overemphasis on the love story, and Annakin's whiney portrayal. It ceased being an epic story about the insidious takeover by the Empire and was instead a romance story about a bratty, impetulent kid who turns to the dark side because he can't have his way. Waaah. It just generally seemed less epic, and less imaginative.

DOn't worry. lucas's stuff is always best in other people's hands - this could be good.

I was talking about the DVD super special remastered editions of the original trilogy. Not the prequels.

JEDIS VS THE BENE GESSERITS? it's ON.

I gotta agree with vid. All we want is the cleaned up video without the special edition crap, anamorphic, and 5.1 sound.

I have the DVDs from last year, they're pretty good, but theres still some of the obnoxious special edition stuff. I just finished my home theatre last week and i watched IV, the only really obnoxious thing was Han still not shooting first and the scene with jabba, which wouldnt have been so bad if the CGI didn't look awful (although it looked better than the first SE). Other than that, the added cgi isnt as glaring as it was in the original SE. The DVD edition is better than the SE, but its still got some annoying moments. We dont need whatever ronto/jawa/IM4-099 comic relief in the background of every mos eisley scene...

But Cyno01 and vid. . . The originals weren't in 5.1 sound. Star Wars was STEREO, baby. And cleaned up? So you WANT it to be tinkered with, just only in the way that suits your desires.

I agree with anamorphic desires though. I hate when movies on DVD aren't anamorphic in this day and age.

Otherwise, why do you complain? I mean, you got the movies as you wanted them, and now you want them to be the originals- but in near-high definition and digitally remastered with the sound expanded to Dolby or DTS 5.1 sound.

What's next? "WAHHH! I wanted 7.1 sound! Lucas raped me again!"

Geez. I like the Special Editions, with the exception of the Han/Greedo exchange (but not because Han shoots at the same time as Greedo (newest version) but because it looks spotty and could have been done better).

Oh, and I do miss "Lapti Nek" even though it's a lame song when translated to English. "Jedi Rocks" just sounds too processed to be a live band in a dank palace. "Lapti Nek" sounded funky and nasty, like something a slimy crime lord might like.

Amazingly, Lucas never corrected the flash of Oola's bare nipple in Return of the Jedi. And you guys complain that he manipulates too much?

this headline is crap, he barely touched the shows and indie 4. nothing new. he'll do two shows and indie 4 - whoopedoo, we knew that already.

also, he says he told his guys the run the show now - GOOD. there is still hope for the two star wars shows...

/clone wars animated series rocked!

Fixing the movie would require destroying all copies in existance.

With blu-ray and hddvd coming out, he'll have another avenue to exploit.

Well done. I snikered a little bit.

Maybe it was the "pulsating" that framed the picture for me.
