/We take hockey seriously up here, ya know

2006-10-06 02:10:45 PM
Shouldn't he be a Flames fan, what with him being from Calgary and all?

Go, Dougie. GO DOUGIE!

Anyone who cannot be completely impartial in their hockey loyalties has no business being Prime Minister of Canada.

2006-10-06 02:11:49 PM
Very sensible Canadian.

Well played, my good man. I actually came in here for the sole purpose of invoking Godwin. I tip my hat to thee.

What if he's a Vancouver fan, eh?

2006-10-06 02:25:08 PM
The Leafs suck, much like Harper.

/ yay Montreal?

Shouldn't he be a Flames fan, what with him being from Calgary and all?

Actually, yeah.

2006-10-06 02:28:44 PM
He's originally from Toronto, I can't see how he wouldn't be a Leafs fan. Either way, the guy's a douche.

/1-0 Canucks - it's our year, baby! OUR YEAR

2006-10-06 02:29:06 PM
In what will surely be the only time I ever come to Stephen Harper's defence, it's pretty hard to be a Flames fan after last night's loss in Edmonton.

0/8 on the PP?! Are you farking kidding??!!

2006-10-06 02:30:07 PM
Montreal is probably the one team he doesn't cheer for.

2006-10-06 02:32:25 PM
Sure looked to me like he was cheering for the Leafs on Wednesday night.

The bastidge.

2006-10-06 02:33:04 PM
He's a moron, would only make sense that he cheers for the leafs.

Go Sens Go!

2006-10-06 02:34:54 PM
The prime minister, who is a member of the Society for International Hockey Research, is currently penning a book about the pre-NHL history of the game.

This almost makes him seem human and a regular Canadian.

But I still see Preston Manning when I see his beady eyes and cheesy smile.

reFOOOOOOOOOORM!!!

2006-10-06 02:37:12 PM
I gotta say that I used to wish for Tie Domi to be made Prime Minister. But since he's been spotted keeping company with B. Stronach, I gotta withdraw my vote. That being said, GO LEAFS GO!

/Tie, what were you thinking?
//I know it was you, Belinda! You broke my heart!

2006-10-06 02:37:16 PM
This just makes me think how the lowest common denominator sways actual important things.

Only people with higher IQ's should be allowed to vote.

2006-10-06 02:37:21 PM
Yes he's a Leafs fan, and another little known fact that explains it, is that he was born and raised in Toronto.

Although, given all the other perfectly good reasons to dislike Harper, it doesn't make a bit of difference to me.

2006-10-06 02:44:52 PM
It's a PR stunt, trying to make Harper look all warm and fuzzy.

2006-10-06 02:44:57 PM
Of course he's a Leafs fan! Only adds to to my list of reasons for despising him.

/transplanted Oilers fan in Ottawa.
//but cheers for the Sens too.
//does that make me a horrible human being?

Yeah, I don't know what that was all about. Maybe just the solid Oil PK that they showed off all playoffs long. But hey, I'm an Oilers fan from way back, so I'm fine with the Flames losing. Not that the Oilers impressed me terribly last night. Still looking a little ragged and loose.

Also, I would like to see the PMs credit card statements, showing that he paid for all of the costs associated with his trip to the game out of his own pocket, or some proof that the trip was a gift. If even a penny of the cost of this was provided by the taxpayers, I want him tarred and feathered and run out of Ottawa as a hypocrite. Especially since he skipped work to do it.

/Harper's a wanker
// just like 95% of politicians

I am really surprised that the Blackhawks aren't total suck this year...(yet.)

That being said, Go Rangers!

Harper probably doesn't even really like hockey. He probably likes baseball. The Texas Rangers from what I see in his politics.

/Seriously, if you can't take a stand on your favourite NHL team, how can you lead this country?

2006-10-06 02:59:21 PM
Hmm. I smell idle speculation to draw attention to his supposedly forthcoming book, and away from the downgrade of his much heralded "made in canada environment plan" to an incoherent and worthless "approach".

2006-10-06 03:10:15 PM
As a Bruins fan, I'm really getting a kick out of these replies.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to put my head back in the oven.

2006-10-06 03:13:17 PM
I have heard he is both a Toronto and Edmonton fan. Not Calgary ... EDMONTON.

2006-10-06 03:19:30 PM
What I want to know is, what the puck is a canuck?

/saw that at a Kings game once
//yes, against Vancouver

2006-10-06 03:20:05 PM
Oh course Harper is a Leafs fan. You know, Toronto being the capital and all. He became President after Ben Mulroney assassinated Pierre Trudeau during the October crisis in 1976. He was re-elected after Jean Chrétien failed to separate Québec in 1981. Under the guidance of Don Cherry, the Montreal Canadiens won the Stanley Cup every year between 1971 and 1983. The Stanley Cup is named after Lord Stanley, who invented the garage door opener in 1704.

Doesn't matter. See above.

2006-10-06 03:28:20 PM
I'm pretty sure he's a flame fan.. I was in Calgary when they were in the playoffs last season and I vaguely remember something about him supporting them...

mind you the flames choked hard and the oilers made to the final, hence the he's an edmonton fan stuff...

Besides the Leafs handed the Sens there asses last night... so does it really matter?

/Yes I'm a girl with VERY little hockey knowledge...
//oh and dneirkraf... I want what your on...

2006-10-06 03:39:18 PM
As a Leafs fan, I don't really recognize the Senators as a legitimate NHL team.

2006-10-06 03:42:30 PM
What's the greatest similarity between the Blue Jays and the Maple Leafs?

Neither one plays hockey.

I love Canadian politicians, they're all so boring we have to focus on the important issues, like hockey loyalties.

People will do anything to keep from thinking about thorny problems.

BergZ: I hereby nominate that the minimum IQ level, required to legaly vote, should be one point higher than bullock.'s IQ.

Agreed. Poetic justice ftw.
