Maybe now we can get Joss to do X4?

2006-10-05 06:43:21 PM
that really sucks. One of the best series and movies I've seen.

2006-10-05 06:45:32 PM
Palsy69

Whedon's doing Wonder Woman next...

What's with Whedon and super-powered women?

Must be like Tarentino with the feet thing..

2006-10-05 06:46:40 PM
:(

I blame Fox for all of this. I hope the station DIAF.

2006-10-05 06:49:20 PM

2006-10-05 06:56:10 PM
It's as if thousands of emo/sci-fi geeks cried out all at once and... yada, yada, yada.

2006-10-05 07:05:32 PM
I cried out.

Damn it!

2006-10-05 07:10:08 PM
Well, sh*t.

I did my bit. I saw the movie four times and dragged somebody different along each time. I bought the movie and the boxed set of the series.

Well, sh*t.

2006-10-05 07:10:40 PM
Alas, we've known this for quite some time. I guess they can't crawl any more.

Still, it is sad.

2006-10-05 07:11:53 PM
I blame SpinStopper. Joss said we had to see the movie 7 times. Seven!!!

2006-10-05 07:13:40 PM
What a shame. Maybe he could get season 2 of Firefly going on SciFi

/I know it is just a pipe dream

2006-10-05 07:15:42 PM
Hallelujah!

Does this really mean we'll never have to hear about this overrated piece of sci-fi tripe and their militant whiny fans ever again?

/not holding my breath

2006-10-05 07:34:59 PM
Dang, now Whedon can't kill off the rest of the cast.

not shiny....not shiny at all.

2006-10-05 07:54:00 PM
Shiat.

2006-10-05 07:56:40 PM
Joss says these rumors are less than true.

2006-10-05 08:16:24 PM
But just think ... in 10 years someone can revive it with "Firefly, The Motion Picture" ... then they can beat it into the ground with 7+ movies and 4 additional series over the course of 25 years.

2006-10-05 11:11:07 PM
that blows.

2006-10-05 11:14:28 PM
I dunno, without Wash, I don't think it would be half as fun. He was a major part of the crew.

2006-10-05 11:25:10 PM
Sure, but Fantastic Four gets a remake.

/d'oh

2006-10-05 11:29:25 PM

Aye, Speedballtucker.

All these rumor of projects or the death of projects... When the two worlds align and something actually happens, whatever it is, you guys know I'll be on this site as soon as I'm allowed to be. And I'll be very very clear. There is no news.

From Speedballtucker's link.

Sure, but Fantastic Four gets a remake.

And "Saw" gets two. =(

worst.decision.evar.

Not from a monetary standpoint, which is all that matters.

2006-10-06 12:24:46 AM
I realize this is going to come across as potential flame bait but, thank you, thank you, and thank you. I didn't care for the television series - and being forced to listen to rabid fans rave all of the @#$#ing time about it, contributed by and large to a founded contempt of the series and the film that followed - that would likely not have existed otherwise.

So, Browncoats? STFU and GBTW.

2006-10-06 12:31:54 AM
Well, that sucks. Still, Trek waited decades for a movie, Serenity made it in just a few. Doctor Who was inactive for years, and it came back. Firefly and Serenity will be around in one form or another (I just heard a new graphic novel is in the works and finally, finally an officially licensed model of Serenity) so while this isn't great news, I'm not too worried. Serenity's worth fighting for.

2006-10-06 12:40:57 AM
You can't stop the signal.

2006-10-06 12:45:21 AM
We will rise again!

2006-10-06 12:55:46 AM
As a huge Firefly fan, I actually think this is a good thing. The movie wrapped up all the storylines for the show, to the point where there was really no where else for it to go.

Better it ends on a high note than hanging around till everyone's sick of it.

/like Buffy
//or X-files
///or Charmed
///Wait, Charmed was always crap

2006-10-06 12:56:57 AM
I loved the show and the movie. He tied it all up pretty well with the movie and I got the closure I wanted.

I think fans begging for more Tv or film out of this franchise, flailing away at this point like Kathy Bates on James Caan makes little sense. The situations and characters were never going to last as that happy group forever anyway, they'd have had to change and grow. Look at Gilligan's Island: it doesn't matter what order you show it in because nothing ever changes, no one dies, no one gets rescued, everything remains the same. Fans who want another movie seem to me to be wanting to condemn the characters to that same kind of existence. You can't stay in college all your life, you get your four years and then you leave the cinderblock and pine board stereo shelves behind and move on to a job and new experiences. You can't go back to that summer romance with your first girlfriend, no matter how good it was or how bad you want it. But you move on, you keep the good memories and you go on and you meet someone else, and eventually you have a new love and new good times and new memories. That's living. To sit in some bubble reliving the same old glories is not really living... it's Trek fandom...( I KEEEEDD!!!)....

anyway.... The show is gone, the movie is done and done well and the threads of the plot and characters are resolved. You can imagine what happens to them next all you want. But the characters and setting can live on in graphic novels, in books, video games, etc. You have those as long as you want them, and if you really want them that badly, well, write yourself a show or book or comic or radio play or MMRPG environment or whatever. That's what Joss did, after all.

But don't make the man sing the exact same song for the rest of his life just because it was a good one, let him find new tunes, new chords, expand the catalog. Maybe he can find another hit and we'll have this conversation all over again about some other thing he's done.

That's life. Live it.

2006-10-06 01:23:37 AM
...and as anyone who's seen the film knows, the exit of certain characters and the resolution of key storylines makes it difficult - or impossible - to recapture the chemistry of the excellent-but-short-lived series.

I still don't know how I feel about the way he went about killing off certain characters. The death of the leaf on the wind seemed particularly pointless.

Wow, aren't you cool. Here's a tip: there's probably a reason why women won't touch you. And it probably has something to do with the fact that you're a Tool.

Why come here just to act like a biatchy little coont? It's a farking television show douche. You can easily not watch it, as well as not participate in threads regarding it. Methinks you have some anger issues based on some personal faults. Projection just lets others know you're miserable.

2006-10-06 04:11:45 AM
Apparently subbie didn't RTFA. He said there isn't a sequel currently under development. Not that there will never be one.

Oh, and the article is wrong. Serenity is just barely in the black atm cause of DVD sales. Whedon said so. Want proof? Google it.

/will never stop believing

I thought serenity was terrible.

:|

Seriously, it wasn't good.

2006-10-06 04:37:12 AM
eversman, I know you're just trollin' for a Browncoat to bite yer head off. But, eh, to each his own.

I would suggest that you ask a friend who's really into it to watch the actual series (if you haven't already). If you can't sit through it straight, no harm, this type of stuff ain't for you.

/Yeah, go back to yer CSI: and Survivor: West Nile, pal! :D

2006-10-06 04:38:22 AM
You mean "The Wire" and "Studio 60"?

As well as other shows that are....good?

Okay!

Jawohl, mein Internet Fuhrer!

Hahaha! Seriously though. Why even try, dude. I posted my opinion and responded to one other post aside from this. Sorry if you don't like me posting. Too bad. So sad.

That's funny, I blame all the people who didn't see the movie or buy the DVD, because the first film actually lost money for them. And the movie was made for only $40 million. That's kinda sad.

2006-10-06 09:49:54 AM
I liked the series, but I didn't like the movie. There I said it.

Mal was too much of a buttmunch during the opening part. It seemed way out of character. The only reason I can see was to get the Tam's to leave the ship so River could freak out.

Also there was not enough of Shepard Book. He was a meat shield for most of the movie. We never got to find out for sure why he had pull with the alliance.

Then there was the whole Wash dying thing...

2006-10-06 09:51:13 AM
I don't mind so much that there won't be more Firefly movies, Serenity left on a high note and tied things up well.

I am somewhat irked that one of the best shows of television couldn't draw the ratings necessary to stay afloat. FOX is partially to blame but mostly I loathe all the dumbasses who'd rather blankly stare at yet another season of Survivor.

EdVenture:

Seems to me that Shepard used to do what that one no-named assassin guy (can't recall what his name was) did...
