You know, I am beginning to believe there really is something to the conspiracy nut ravings about the 9/11 commission being a "whitewash".

Weird times we are living in. Weird times.

2006-10-03 10:27:31 AM
The White House saw this coming. That's why they had their attack dogs(FOX news, etc) start the "It's Clinton's fault" chant.
Now that Woodward's book reveals that the general in charge of the entire Middle East basically agrees with Murtha, what does Hanity do?
Shows an ancient tape of Murtha during the ABSCAM investigation where he doesn't comit a crime.
Asshats.

2006-10-03 10:32:49 AM
So somone in the administration either lied, "forgot" or covered something else up.

What else is new? Did scientists just discover that water is wet? Did someone see a bear shiat in the woods?

2006-10-03 10:38:35 AM
Wow, this administration is really falling apart.

I just read on Fox news where Condi said she offered to resign and Bush said no. She's in CYA mode.

2006-10-03 10:38:39 AM
Oh what a tangled web we weave...

Weird times we are living in. Weird times.

Truer words never spoken. I can't WAIT to see the flames if the Dems take back Congress in November. Get ready for about a MILLION Congressional Inquiries into the MANY, MANY INDISCRETIONS OF this Administration.

Should be fun.

2006-10-03 10:39:19 AM
The upside for her is that her memory problems won't rule her out for a position with Fox news 20 years from now.

2006-10-03 10:40:46 AM
I would say vote DEMS in the next election and throw out all repubs.

Then in 2008, vote 3rd party and throw them ALL out.

2006-10-03 10:41:07 AM
Uh, yea, the warning was the 1993 attack that Clinton ignored. But the election time spin is expected and even works on the ignorant.

2006-10-03 10:41:31 AM
Rummy said this weekend that he is "disappointed" that he never received the briefing. What a douche.

waxingpolemic: I can't WAIT to see the flames if the Dems take back Congress in November.

Pfft.

Only if we transplant spines into them...

Won't happen. I wish it would, but it won't.

First Condi lied about getting a Bin Laden plan from Clinton, and now this.

Hindsight is 20/20 but it is obvious that Condi blew it and is now trying to lie her way out of responsibility.

2006-10-03 10:42:42 AM
Let's not argue and bicker about who killed who; this is supposed to be a happy occasion!

Believe it baby.

They were planning on OBL doing SOMETHING in order to justify an invasion of Afganistan. All part of Dicks "energy plan"

They suspected it would be something much smaller, more in line with the USS Cole.

So you are saying this is not the first time a person in this administration has lied and or corved somthing up? I did hear somthing about the water being wet but I thought that was just some sort of rumor.

2006-10-03 10:43:15 AM
They knew and they did nothing. They are to blame - they had explicit warnings.

2006-10-03 10:43:18 AM
I believe Condi. Shiat, Reagan couldn't remember his last three years in office... whats the beef, sir?

2006-10-03 10:43:21 AM
So if she's not culpable then she's just incompetent.

You're doing a heckava job, Rummie

I will also work on my super rad keyboard skills. corved = covered.

Right.
Six of one, half dozen of the others.
Keep watching the Punch and Judy show, and root for the puppet of your choice.

You folks sure are optimistic. I'll lay my money on the braidead American public rolling over and taking yet another UFIA without complaint. You can't demand a form of government that you are incapable of understanding.

...and could we reword that headline into English, please?

I don't want them to take anything back. The Republicans made this mess, let them clean it up. Bonus: Since they probably won't get rid of the Neocons making policy, they'll make it worse over the next 6 years (I figure give the R's another presidency) and then people will begin to chafe for the good old days. You know, when fiscal responsibility existed and we didn't let morons who can't read a history book create foreign policy based on some fallacious wet dream.

I'm voting Republican this November. I want a nice slim majority so everything in 6 years is their own dumba$$ fault. You see the Republicans are in kind of the same state Hamas is in now. Hamas used to scream at Fatwa. How evil they were, how inept. Now look at Hamas. Not so fun on the other side of the glass...

Actually it looks to me like the spin is finally starting to stop working.

2006-10-03 10:45:41 AM
Now now, lets not dump *all* the blame on Condi.

After all, Rumsfeld and Ashcroft got the same briefing.

2006-10-03 10:45:54 AM
Yeah, but they made up for it in their swift response to Katrina, right?

2006-10-03 10:46:13 AM
her memory is only getting worse
www.thespoof.com
"I don't know that this meeting took place, I can't remember any of it. I recall bright lights and being trapped on some kind of examination table by force fields," explains Secretary Condi Rice.

"This sort of selective memory loss could mean only one of two things: Condi Rice, our Secretary of State, is in cohoots with the Republicans to deny all of their overwhelming advance warning of 9/11 and pin it on President Clinton."

"Or, space aliens from the future are using lasers to erase Rice's memory cells and they won't stop until her body is little more than a pod, unleashing a cannibalistic alien vampire into the White House with an insatiable appetite for human brains."

2006-10-03 10:46:16 AM
Rice should know better than to lie for her current bosses if there's even the slightest possibility of getting caught.

She should instead be looking to the future, keeping in mind how Powell's credibility suffered when he took one for the team.

2006-10-03 10:46:30 AM
I think it's a pretty big jump from "ignoring warnings" to "allowing an attack". I'm not a fan of this administration, but I think more signs point to gross incompetence rather than willful negligence.

2006-10-03 10:46:56 AM
Wait -2001 (from the article) is REALLY 1993?

What a retard.

"Uh, yea, the warning was the 1993 attack that Clinton ignored. But the election time spin is expected and even works on the ignorant."

Aw, poor guy. Your spin gland is all tuckered out. That was just stupid.

2006-10-03 10:47:49 AM
Wait a minute. If the 9/11 Commission heard this evidence from Tenet, then why wasn't it covered in the Commission's report, as Bob Woodward pointed out?

This just gets stranger and stranger...

After all, Rumsfeld and Ashcroft got the same briefing.

Do they remember it either? Or did they just ignore it?

You know- it's times like this that I really wish we were living in a real democracy- where we could oust our leaders when we know that they're lying to us

I ran out of fingers counting all the capitalization errors and misspellings in the headline.

2006-10-03 10:49:15 AM
Uh, yea, the warning was the 1993 attack that Clinton ignored.

Is there any way douchebags like you can be made to know that the perps in that attack were arrested and jailed?

Maybe you have too much of Bush's cum pumping around in your brain so you can't think straight.

Or maybe the asshole you support suck so bad at what they do, you're forced into a "but theb dems!!!".

You are as weaselly and craven as the Admin. you support.

2006-10-03 10:49:22 AM
Ah, the Patsy. This looks like a setup on Condi to make it look like she was the lynchpin that failed to stop AL-Qaida.

She'll be able to find work in the Private Sector, no worries mate.

/Golf Clap on this one.

Really? I don't. Not when it is your sworn duty to protect this country I don't.

If you smell smoke, you should at least look for fire, not figure out how you will spend your insurance money.

inglixthemad : I think you might be wrong. Because as far as I can tell, Bill Clinton is going to be responsible for eveything that goes wrong for the next 2000 years. In fact I understand he was really Pilate AND Herod. And Hitler.

Highly recommended. 600+ pages, but very good reading on the background of Al Qaida, UBL and American policy with respect to Sunni Islamic extremism.

Anyone watch Chris Matthews on Leno last night? You could tell he was pissed about all this Iraq war stuff. He basically told the viewers:

If you like how the war in Iraq is going, then vote for the Republicans.

If you don't like how the war in Iraq is going, then vote for the Democrats.

I really enjoyed it....

You mean the one where the culprits were caught, tried, and are now sitting in prison? That one?

TFA:

One official who helped to prepare the briefing, which included a PowerPoint presentation, described it as a "10 on a scale of 1 to 10" that "connected the dots" in earlier intelligence reports to present a stark warning that al-Qaida, which had already killed Americans in Yemen, Saudi Arabia and East Africa, was poised to strike again.

Wow. If that isn't criminal negligence I don't know what is.

2006-10-03 10:51:08 AM
My joy is seeing that the truth is coming out. My despair is KNOWING that the dems are somehow going to let this opportunity to shake the country awake pass, and they will lose this election. And the next one.

/now more than ever this country needs a leader

Why do you have America?

...Stalin ignored the warning signs about Hitler's imminent invasion as well...
