2006-09-29 01:01:14 PM
uh oh! The liberals liked him until he went after their smokes!!!!

2006-09-29 01:09:47 PM
Uh-huh....typical "developing" story by Drudge...

aka worthless dribble

2006-09-29 01:14:01 PM
Whoah, there, Al. You're looking pretty, uh, "prosperous," there. You might want to stop going to Alec Baldwin's favorite Italian restaurant for a while.

2006-09-29 01:19:23 PM
And yet, a news search for al gore cigarette smoking yields no stories about this. None. Not on any wire service. Sounds like Drudge must have been the only one who heard this.

I call shenanigans.

This is interesting:

"What I have discovered while researching this issue is that the corporate funding of lobby groups denying that man-made climate change is taking place was initiated not by Exxon, or by any other firm directly involved in the fossil fuel industry. It was started by the tobacco company Philip Morris."

Can anybody find this alleged quote in a real news story?

Still doesn't show up on a news search. He allegedly said this last night, but no wire service has picked it up? Seems hard to believe, and Drudge doesn't provide a direct quote, and the only alleged quote of Gore's words is that he said something--who knows what--is a "significant contributor to global warming." Yet, even that phrase does not appear in any current wire service story relating to Gore.

If Gore really said this, and if he said this in the context that Drudge claims, I'm going to have to see it from a real source. Until then, I'll have to assume that this is typical Drudge spin and not factual. If anybody has any evidence to the contrary, I'd be happy to see it.

Global warming is caused by trees.
I know this to be true because Rush Limbaugh said so.

Really, he did.

2006-09-29 03:50:37 PM
No....Druge SAYS Al Gore says cigarette smoking causes global warming.

Who to believe?

Cyberluddite: Can anybody find this alleged quote in a real news story?

NewsMax is the closest I can get.

2006-09-29 04:14:29 PM
This wouldn't be a problem if smoking was still 'cool'.
I blame society

2006-09-29 04:14:45 PM
Chiggity Chza, I just want to let you know someone else recognized your Mulder ref.

/X-Phile

2006-09-29 04:14:52 PM
I think he is right. Last year they banned smoking in bars...... and the last couple weeks it feels like its getting cooler.

2006-09-29 04:15:35 PM
What Mr. Gore should say is that if the Bush family hadn't stolen the 2000 election.....
We wouldn't be in this global war mess.

2006-09-29 04:16:09 PM
Actually I was thinking.... what if global warming and all the carbon dioxide in the air is simply because of people breathing in and out?

2006-09-29 04:16:19 PM

Interesting, I did not know I made a Mulder reference. I do not watch X-Philes.
If it's about the cow flatulence, I heard it somewhere but I don't think it was X-Philes since I do not and have not evar watched that show.

Hurm...

Politician says something controversial which would gaurantee press coverage while simultaneously cracking open cases of his new book to sell...

Yeah, this one is hard to believe. Obviously faked.

2006-09-29 04:18:15 PM

Cigarette smoking causes global warming, I'm super serial.

Manbearpig has gone to the sidelines for a while.

2006-09-29 04:18:46 PM
Smoking is actually likely to save you from experiencing global warming. Death by lung cancer will make ice cap melt down seem like thing of no consequence.

so Al Gore gave the same speech he gives all the time, with the same charts and the same warnings, but this time throws in that cigarette quote?

I would bet any amount of money this is a lie.

2006-09-29 04:19:23 PM
That's no moon, it's Al Gore!

The michael moor look does not include a nicely taylored suit, but rather a grungry tshirt complete with mustard stain, halfway tucked in.

"The planet itself will do nicely, thank you very much what is at risk is human civilization,"

seems to me that the problem will eventually solve itself.

2006-09-29 04:19:31 PM
Ah, first Gonzolves gets a hero tag for ignoring separation of powers and now this link from Drudge. It's good to see that the Newsmax editorial board found the password to the moderator account again.

2006-09-29 04:19:45 PM
Except......... he didn't say that. What is it with these people constantly trying to put words in Democrats mouths that they never actually said?

BTW, Gore never said he invented the internet either. Just another "quote" that they repeat over and over until ignorant people take it as gospel. It's disgusting.

Do trees still cause pollution?

/obscure?

2006-09-29 04:21:02 PM
It's so nice that the Democrats have such miniscule, odd stories on Fark as compared to the extremely dangerous criminal acts of the GOP that consume the rest of Fark.

2006-09-29 04:21:25 PM
You know, I'm gonna have to go with the BS on this one. Gore is a pretty intelligent guy.

I seriously doubt he said that.

Drudge on the other hand, not so intelligent.

2006-09-29 04:21:41 PM
we gotta calculate the central tendency of the yield carbon mon- and di- oxide from the cigarettes and then multiply it by the amount cigarettes smoked per year. can anyone help me with this ?

as a rought slash - - > we could assume that 1/2 the weight of a cigarette is carbon and that 1/2 of that becomes liberated co2 ? anyone got a cigarette and a balance handy? (cut off the filter.)

2006-09-29 04:21:43 PM
