I traced a recent bout of diarrhea to the processed grilled chicken atop my McD's Salads. I was eating one a day for lunch.

I stopped with the chicken, it went away. I started the chicken, it came back. I'm not sure how much chicken is in their chicken anyway. It certainly doesn't shred like chicken.

A McD's salad sans chicken is a dollar or more cheaper.

I'm shocked that all those hormones, antibiotics, and other crap could cause adverse health problems.

I never eat at any of those places anyway. I don't like poison.

Before I RTFA:

This has something to do with the idiots who've declared that simply cooking meat suddently turns it into a deadly cancer-causing substance. Trace amounts of naturally-occuring chemicals caused by heat can sometimes slightly increase cancer rates in special cancer-sensitive lab rats when you feed them their own body weight in it!

RTA: Heh... filed in California. Of course I am not surprized.

Well... let's see...

Restaurant owners were probably an agnostic or Atheist as had no consideration of the 'hereafter.' Was a loser at life and figured he was going to get some 'teen ass' before checking out... HEY, you only live once, right?

Why am I saying this? Because this is the end result of living only for yourself and thinking only of what is in Your Best Interests- Extreme Narcissism. We have a lot of that in our society today...

So, does that make him sick or Evil or both... or neither?

Eat veggies! It's safe, and nicer to the chicken population. There's practically no torture involved when harvesting crunchy, tasty vegetables! And it generally tastes better than blood. I advise everyone to try it.

Well, that doesn't prove that the chicken isn't carcinogenic! You know, even when you're paranoid they could still be after you! Uhm, yep.

Man has been using the formula of meat + fire = food for a long, long time. I'd blame the additives put in the meat now days for causing cancer long before I blame the flame.

Ok, well the cancer thing has been beat to death already so...

First, it makes you fat (duh). Or, eating it three meals a day, three weeks a month, makes you fat.

Now, it gives you cancer. Or, all cooked meat contains trace amounts of the same chemical.

Next, it will cause Alzheimer's.

We'll squeeze these bastard fast food joints for every penny they're worth, some day, some how!

"tested positive for a dangerous carcinogenic compound called PhIP" during analysis at an independent laboratory."

I bet you'll find traces of hundreds of carcinogens in any food.

"Grilled chicken can cause cancer, and consumers deserve to know that this supposedly healthy product is actually just as bad for them as high-fat fried chicken,"

That's a very scientific assesment there. No fearmongering whatsoever. Becasue that statement has been proven with a scientific study. Way to pass off your conjectures as fact.

I've given up on avoiding cancer. French Fries, the air at home, the air at the office, the air outside, my clothing, sitting in my car, grilled meats, second hand smoke... etc ...etc all supposedly cause cancer

Seems everyone in North America should have cancer, but we don't. In some of these cases they don't mention how much of these "dangerous" environmental factors we have to be exposed to for it to be a risk. I wouldn't be surprised if you would need to eat 10 lbs or more of grilled chicken a day everyday to get a risk of getting cancer.

These people are as bad as the religious crazies.
By their claim your backyard grill should be sued.

Its not the fast food joints specifically, its grilling itself that causes the chemicals.

You should be more worried about the hormones and antibiotics the jam into mass produced poultry. Or, the nasty filthy conditions they process it in before the kid at Burger King who didn't wash his hands prepares it.

/Since I quit eating fast food all of my gastrointestinal problems went away.

2006-09-29 08:27:08 AM
Every fast food joint in California is in the clear.

They already have Proposition 69 warnings [ Something in this building causes cancer! Guess what it is! ] hanging on the door to every single one.

Said substance was in the news...last year, I think, when they figured out that it came from all methods of grilling, baking, frying, or....well, anything but boiling meat.

1. Shut up and grill the damn chicken, you whiny California asstards (And I normally consider myself a liberal libertarian).

2. If you're going to biatch and moan about this crap, spend your time looking into the significantly more important issues surrounding the growth conditions of our country's livestock. Antibiotics, steriods, %99.9 corn diets, and absurdly inhumane conditions worry me a hell of a lot more than the tried and tested formula of "Food + Heat = Cooking"

Judging from the resteraunts I see every day, I'd argue chicken here is at least as popular as beef--and perhaps moreso.

%99.9 corn diets

Or bloody well get rid of that corn syrup crap that's in everything. I'm starting to get really really sick of it.

Well, they can feel free to offer poison, in my view; whether or not people choose to eat/drink that poison, however, is entirely their choice.

Just because something is available doesn't mean you are forced to acquire it. That's my basic idea of freedom; some people just don't trust themselves enough to make educated decisions, I guess.

Christ on a crutch! Stop with the farking lawsuits already. Hey guess what, since man has discovered fire, he's been grilling on the back yard BBQ. So, don't eat fried meat, don't eat grilled meat, don't eat fish..... sounds like a Vegan group to me. So let's eat some fresh vegetables instead... oh wait, those have recently had e-coli and hepatitis.. Well folks, just don't eat. Let's all die. Where's the happy gas so we can all stop what we're doing and just die out. Farking stupid.

From the ActivistCash.com overview:

http://www.activistcash.com/organization_overview.cfm/oid/23

"The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) is a wolf in
sheep's clothing. PCRM is a fanatical animal rights group that seeks to remove
eggs, milk, meat, and seafood from the American diet, and to eliminate the use
of animals in scientific research. Despite its operational and financial ties to
other animal activist groups and its close relationship with violent zealots,
PCRM has successfully duped the media and much of the general public into
believing that its pronouncements about the superiority of vegetarian-only diets
represent the opinion of the medical community.

"Less than 5 percent of PCRM's members are physicians," Newsweek wrote in
February 2004. The respected news magazine continued:

[PCRM president Neal] Barnard has co-signed letters, on PCRM letterhead, with
the leader of Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty, an animal-rights group the
Department of Justice calls a "domestic terrorist threat." PCRM also has ties to
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. An agency called the Foundation to
Support Animal Protection has distributed money from PETA to PCRM in the past
and, until very recently, did both groups' books. Barnard and PETA head Ingrid
Newkirk are both on the foundation's board.

New York Times columnist Joe Sharkey put it more crisply in a November 2004
piece about PCRM's annual airport-food ratings. "The physicians' committee has a
PETA link," he wrote, "and its food rankings reflect that agenda."

OH NOES! TEH CANCER! SUX0R!

Seriously, is there anything that doesn't cause cancer?

/This just in: living causes cancer!
//Quick, everybody! Kill yourselves!

2006-09-29 09:29:59 AM
Oh, please. The government said that it's "reasonably anticipated to be a human carcinogen" based on animal studies, not that it definitely is a dangerous carcinogen.

http://ntp.niehs.nih.gov/ntp/roc/eleventh/profiles/s092vhca.pdf

"Although evidence suggests that consumption of well-done or grilled meat may be associated with increased cancer risk in humans, the data are insufficient to support the conclusion that this risk is due specifically to PhIP present in these foods (NTP 2002)."

This lawsuit will be thrown out in no time.
